Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 7/23/2012

Nas achieved the fifth #1 album of his career this week. By a 70,000 unit margin, Nas’ Life Is Good assumed the spot at the top of the charts. Beating out last week’s winner, Zac Brown Band, the Def Jam Records release followed 2008’s Untitled, which sold 40,000 more first week-units.

While The Alchemist’s Russian Roulette missed the Top 200, veteran Pomona, California singer/emcee Kokane strangely got a huge second week boost on his July 1 project, Dr. Kokastein. The Bud E Boy Records retail mixtape also saw a push in Mr. Kane’s 2011 album on the same label, The Legend Continues. The ’12 effort, hosted by DJ King Assassin, features Young Jeezy, E-40, Tha Alkaholiks and the late KMG.

Life Is Really Good For Nas

With a #1 album, Queens, New York’s Nas did it again. The conceptual album, Life Is Good paired the lyricist with mentor Large Professor and late ’80s/early ’90s peers DJ Hot Day, D.I.T.C.’s Buckwild and the late Heavy D on the critically-acclaimed LP. Nas also worked with No I.D., Salaam Remi, Rick Ross and Noah “40” Shebib on the project. Backed off of the single “Daughters,” the highly-personal album is largely based off of Nas’ public and messy divorce with R&B singer Kelis.

Kokane Has His Best Week In A Decade

Once a solo artist on Ruthless Records, Kokane seems to be finding his best solo success in since the early ’90s courtesy of Bud E Boy Records. The longtime Above The Law affiliate and collaborator with Dr. Dre, Tony Yayo and Snoop Dogg sold over 5,000 units last week, of a mixtape and an album. The spike comes less than a month after the death of A.T.L. member KMG, who suffered a fatal heart attack July 6.

    1. he could had done way more if defjam would put this nigga songs on the radio instead of so much focus on 2 chains weak ass

    2. Great job for Nas. The album really deserves to be #1 and that’s a strong first week for someone like him in this climate of sales.

      Haters and trolls arrive in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

    3. u think nas sold well really i would so flop yall talking like this is it was written or sumthing that shit droped wud sell bout 400 000 thoudand in this ages still its not bad album but no one of his best why sales are ok but not great good sale for nowadays would be 300 000 first week

      1. stop talkin stop typin YOU, yes YOU, sound stupid. learn how to speak. are you retarded, or are you just learnin english? lame ass haters, postin shit anonymously, you a bloggin tuff guy huh? this is yerm C. bingsley so you know who said it bitches!

    4. Funny how all the little swaggots on here were sayin, “nas aint got sale, he gon flop, blah blah blah…” All u lame ass cornballs, peep game!

    5. Good to see Nas’ success in only a week. Goes to show that real music can still thrive and get it’s credit that it deserves.

    6. Congrats Nas! These are decent numbers considering this day in age, Nas’ age and longevity, and they type of music he puts out. Great Album.

    7. The people have spoke. YMCMB>>>Nas.

It’s pretty obvious that all of the people who hate on YMCMB are broke. YMCMB stay getting paid and all of you are mad. You guys can relate to Nas cuase he’s broke too. So he’s one of you guys. Maybe if some of you went to college and got a real job, you could support your favorite artist and he wouldn’t be broke. YMCMB fans tend to be much more affluent, intelligent and hardworking than Nas fans.

      1. FUCK YOU AND YMCMB. Baby buys Waynes records and NO ONE in that camp will ever be as legendary as Nas. Nas is the 3rd greatest of all time, behind Jay-z and 2pac

      2. Do you have any idea what substance in music is? Probably not. Too worried about corny punchlines

      3. what does college have to do with music dumbass your gay dick riding general lil wayne aint even educated like Nas is and Nas is a dropout too. Some people like you and wayne are meant to be stupid theres no shame in that, don’t feel bad.

      4. Then why do YMCMB affiliate themselves with Nas? He was on Wayne’s album( and left Wayne in the dirt lyrically) as well as Nicki’s album. YMCMB have a healthy respect for Nas, which is fine, but it makes me question fanboys like you who are so obviously ignorant of the clique they “support”

      5. “Nas is the 3rd greatest of all time, behind Jay-z and 2pac”

Says all anyone needs to know about you. If you think Jay-Z is better than Biggie, then you aren’t qualified to opine on hip hop. You were probably introduced to Jay-Z through Heinekin commercials in 2004. I doubt you listen to hip hop. Go back to the techno music message boards. You might find a boyfriend there.

    8. WOW! So Nas has real life fans? 149k is pretty good(maybe he bought his own shits, lol) did more than Chris Brown and that AIDS having fag(insert name)

    9. Breaking 100k the first week is big in the day of the download. I’m glad to see NAS do these numbers. Now he needs to tour and promote to get a gold record in 2-3 months. I’m pulling for him. Do ya thang my dude!

    10. Good to see Nas do some good numbers but even if if would have sold 149 copies, it’s still a bangin’ album. He will eventually go gold. How soon depends on long Def Jam keeps the machine behind him which I doubt will be much longer. I predice Nas will hit gold by the end of December.

    11. y’all remember what Nas said on Testify,

“Don’t buy my songs, y’all don’t roll with it
Coming to concerts singing hoe’ing shit
Fuck y’all lil’ lil’ hoe bitches
      I don’t need y’all, I’ll go GOLD with it”

    12. haha, yeah congrats nas! NOT! he didn’t pull off nicki and drake numbers. sorry he still flopped. let’s see how long it takes for this loser to go gold.

      1. lol, you got the wrong the category “YOUNGSTA”, don’t you know by now them fools is HIP-POP

      2. So you cosign niggas who get play on Z-100…word? Them niggas must be super thugs on some Nore shit. They got to be the realest.

    13. Mad props to NAS

Great to see real hip hop alive and well, and people supporting it.

NAS is one the last great 90’s rappers still doing it.

      1. ^^ Another testament to Hov being by far the greatest ever. Internet cocksuckers don’t go out to buy your album, Nasir.

    14. 149,000 isn’t bad. On the other hand, Kokane is blowin up the charts. He’ll be at diamond status in no time lol

    15. I was only more proud of a rapper when I heard Jay-Z was gonna be a dad. I’m my opinion Nas truly is the greatest of all time! He’s managed to stay relevant for nearly 20 years all the while being himself and staying true to his fanbase. No other rapper is this candid regarding their personal life and so emotional open about it. Truth be told it takes a bigger man to admit to have loved and lost than it does a man to say he makes it rain in the strip club.
While listening to this album I’m constantly catching new lines and shaking my head with a smile on my face. I once thrived to be an emcee through inspiration from Nas and to this day he’s still my favorite emcee hands down. He’s proved the haters wrong (and they’re pissed off about it) time and time again. Truth be told, Nas wasn’t the first person to call himself the best rapper. That respect came from his peers. He let the music speak for itself and for that he deserves admiration. Phat shout to Nas! A 40 year old veteran who’s better than he was at 21 (as we all should be). Like the man “The king is back! Where’s my crown at?!”

      1. Co-sign 99% of that.

BUT how the fuck can you say that he’s ‘staying true to his fanbase’ when he’s featuring OFFICER RICKY on his albums now?!?!?!? Would that fat fraud have made it onto Illmatic? no fucking way.

      2. Rick Ross’s last album Teflon Don was actually a pretty good album, Stalley’s Last physical release-Lincoln Way Night was an excellent realease & Wale’s first album attention defecit was good, I don’t understand why people think rick ross sucks when the quality is there. I think people just dislike his persona

      3. Fish, that’s a feature man. Nas’ lyrics are what we expect from him. He’s not capitulating and talking about the nonsense these other artists talk about. Also, what’s great about this album is that he’s only featuring 1 other rapper. All these albums nowadays play more like compilations than they do solo projects.

      4. Nas stayed true to himself? Revisionist dickriding bullshit. He betrayed his original fanbase by putting out IWW. LMAO. He stayed true to himself by featuring all those ringtone rappers after he created the controversy about HipHop being dead, huh?

    16. man just give props whocares if you think they flop nas and mmg numbers are good at times like this

that nas album not all that killer mike rap music album is way better imop

      1. ^^^ i mean that in a good way you hip hop heads need to fuck with mike he got every angle covered he got that political rap hustle music and just straight hip hop

    17. maybe since rap sales are at a all time low now we can get some classic music without most of these rappers thinking about going pop

    18. wayne proved that garbage can be sold you just have to do alot of extra shit to do it like rock women pants skate board and release a justin beiber like single

      1. ymcmb sells records at universal studios and the disney parks for a discounted price like 5 bucks im surprised you people didnt know this do you know how nmany tourist reach those places

      2. @grandhustle Wow. Is that really true? If so man that was some interesting information that the rest of hip hop fans have NO clue about.

      3. Is that so? Why didn’t Nas benefit off this by appearing in Nicki’s video, praising her to the max and being on Wayne’s album?

    19. Why are so many message board prognosticators overly concerned with sales and money? Do any of us benefit from our favorite rappers being worth $50,000,000? Celebrating another man’s income seems odd to me. Especially when it doesn’t benefit you in the least.

      1. Because we associate numbers with greatness and it’s easier for people to understand and cosign. It’s like what you’re taught in 1st grade about numbers— 10>9,so its ingrained in people that bigger numbers mean better quality for some reason. I don’t get the wealth part either,he’s rich you’re not but you got a stiffy about his cars and jewels and the clubs he doesn’t invite you to. Sounds like some closet shit to me.

      2. i agree with your comment, but it also means nothing to call an artist garbage when the person who is saying this is doing moves to get that paper. AT THE END ON THE DAY, STILL ITS ABOUT THE MONEY. PLEASE SHOW ME A BROKE MAN THAT IS HAPPY!!!!

    20. after a month Chris Brown can barely sell 200,000 copies … woooooow.

Drake push 650,000 in the FIRST week.

      1. Who gives a fuck? This is not basketball what do those numbers mean, quality>quantity is how we should judge artists and music. Milli Vanilli,mc hammer, and vanilla ice all had successful albums commercially. Doesn’t mean they were good just that people bought the crap

    21. damn you put your heart into a album and it dont move big units not enough to make any real bread we win he lose

    22. for a 20 year vet hwho will not crossover this some damn good numbers its the type of album that will move units all year

      1. What u talking about willis ??? Gotcha GRANDMA on my DICK !!!! You Know What It Is… Rack City Bitch!!!

    23. all of these major albums and nobody hit game up for a feateure when he had the entire industry on his thats fucked up hiphop

      1. yeah, on RED album and all those mixtapes leading up to it he had EVERYBODY who’s a somebody in the rap game and no one puts him on their shit

      2. sorry game fan but they only did it because interscope put the bread up for it nobody fucks with game outside of his own projects

      1. Nas aint looking for no label yunging, from Columbia/Sony to Defjam/Universal is whr its at right now.

Three hit singles, four big fanbases…

      Can’t wait to see it!

      1. u sick as hell… u got “How To Love” on repeat huh.. fuck boy.

eminem outsells ur boo on his worst day

    27. Nas pulled over 100k is unexpected. Atleast fans came out & supported an albulm dat is way better than alot of these mainstream albulms 2day.

      1. What did you expect? The majority of his “fans” are nothing but fake ass internet dickriders, nobody, aside from his delusional hardcore groupies, is supporting this wack sellout anymore.

      1. true, lil wayne dresses like a bitch and he sells lmao… so, what u sayin is, “gay is tha new cool”?

    28. ITS EASY TO GO NUMBER ONE WHEN NOBODY ELSE IS AROUND HE SHOULD HAVE DROPPED IT THE SAME DAY ASS ROSS IF HE A DON

      1. if self made 2 came out the same day as the new nas album it wudve been outsold easily…self made is at 179,000 after a month, nas is at 149,000 in a week, so go suck a dick nigga

    29. If you consider the huge amount of cocksucking Nas’ received through the internet for the past 2 years, he should’ve sold AT LEAST 350k.

    30. Wut up world its cha boi back at it. yall crazy if you actually think nas is number 1 album. its a proven fact that this clown has his record company buy 40-50,000 albums just so he comes out on top. this album a flop. it wont even hit 250k. not to mention its his worst album of last 15 years. bitch life is bad.
i gotta pay respect to waka though. hes one of teh realest ppl doing it. and its offical his album is a smash! check tha number. the highest independent album this year! Brick squad baby.

    31. NAS THE MOTHAFUCKIN DON! still relevant and outselling most of these cats hes the greatest off all time and is neccessary in the game!

    32. sales are wack right now…BUT NAS JUST DID IN A WEEK WHAT IT TOOK MMG TO DO IN A MONTH…REAL HIPHOP IS TAKIN OVER AGAIN

    33. MMG GOT WAY MORE VIDS AND PROMOTION/RADIO PLAY THEN NAS FOR THERE SELFMADE ALBUM AN WHAT DID THAT DO? SHIT!

    34. 150,000 is good for just about anybody now a days. unless your lil wayne buying your own shit haha

    35. Wow, I’m actually impressed. When an actual good Nas album comes out I doubt it’ll get it’s due though…

    36. Esco Is in tha bulding bitchazz from life’s a bitch to life’s good thats whats up QB STAND THE FUCK UP

    37. YESSSSSSS!!

Another #1 album from one of the GOATs in hip-hop. Nas doing 150k first week are good numbers from a vet.

Another thing, no YMCMB on the charts? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!! What an epic fail. I guess the little kids and dumb bitches forgot to buy their favorite artists’ albums.

      Nas winning.

      1. ^^ idiotic Nas cocksucker. Nas worked with YM to save his career and because he was dumb enough to think that YM’s fans would go out to support him. Why is the so-called real artist scared of true competition though? Jay was brave enough to trade bars with Em, Nas was murdered by Cormega, G Rap, Raekwon, Ghostface, Common, AZ, Killah Priest, Jay himself and Scarface. Wait, ain’t Nas the dude who kicked out Cormega because he couldn’t outshine him and decided to scrap his own verse because he was completely humilated by Canibus? LMAO. The mad loser that didn’t acknowledge Elzhi because he surpassed him? Or is he still sad that Rakim straight SHITTED on him? Who won’t feature Lupe because he knows he can’t hang with him, haha.

      2. it’s obvious you’re a hater. Nas is one of the best rappers alive and you can’t do a thing about it.

    38. Whoever dats stil replying to the 30 yr old anonymous bleeding bitch or rex that constantly spews ignorance on a Nas post is just as dumb as him.

    39. LMAO. Jigga’s proteges outselling Nas with ease. What a fucking L.

Nigga should be a mogul, biggest underachiever of all time.

    40. All these so called hip hop fans talking about sales like they’re A&R’s and shit. Lmao! stupid ass low budget critics.

    41. all that young money and MMG dickriding for nothing lmaooooo.

This nigga Nas does 2 songs with Nicki Minaj, and Drake and WAYNE and he still flop.

    42. I SPIT WITH THE WICKEDNESS OF THE WITCH IN SLEEPING BEAUTY / IM BACK FROM BAND CAMP, DICK RIDING AND LICKING BOOTY

in a day when niggas do fag shit to sell them
        YMCMB are fucking bunnies, Easter
See how i slay their groupies, ether

      3. @anonymous

How the fuck does Iamhiphop have better bars when that nigga basically used what young money always does, those stupid ass punchlines. His bars were wack too. Niggas be lame tryin to drop bars on a comment forum.

        Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      4. IM THE GOAT, JUST WAITIN FOR A NIGGA TO DROP THE SOAP / SO I CAN STROKE & CHOKE WHEN I DEEP THROAT / I DONT VOTE, BUT IM DOPE WITHOUT THE COKE / YOU HAVE NO HOPE WHEN I COWBOY EM AND GET A ROPE

        UNDENIABLE BARS..

Hmm, I should’ve seen from the start, you’s a mouse
Quit trying to battle me bitch, you should stay up in your house

      10. Dog, quit barking or I’ll put you to sleep
You must be high if you think your shit’s deep
Your raps are corny and and looks ghost-written

Anytime you come out, jo, I’m a talk about you
Until you let that bitch in you, walk up out you

      1. if he has no fanbase, he wouldn’t have sold 149k 1st week and have the #1 album in the country, dumbass.

      2. Exactly. NOBODY in the hood is bumping Nas.

stupid ass nigga. it’s obvious you’re replying to your own comment to make yourself look smart when it makes you look stupid, because some niggas in the hood DO bump Nas.

      3. ^^^ Its obvious that this whole convo was made by one crazy person named Anonymous … right ? 😉

      4. The ONLY place where I see Nas getting praise is the fucking internet. And people really wonder why he ain’t won a Grammy yet. Watch these losers say Grammy’s don’t matter, but your comments of sucking him off matter, huh?

      5. Dumbass, a lot of great rappers never won Grammys. Pac, B.I.G., DMX, etc. Also, Nas gets a lot of praise from a lot of people outside of the internet. A lot of great rappers praised Nas.

      1. Idiot. Nas never did Jay-Z numbers because he’s not a pop artist like Jay. These numbers for Nas are good, especially in a time when people DL more shit than actually buy albums.

      2. LOL. Nas is a pop artist, just like Jay. He just wasn’t able to succeed at that level like Jay did, due to his hitmaking disability. BTW, all the GOATs are pop artists, you have to be able to master both audiences. I’m sure you discredit MJ because he was a pop artist, huh? Do you even know what pop means? Popular, haha.

      3. LMAO. Adele’s on to sell 20 million, but people don’t buy anymore, right? What are you? A fucking internet commentator, Jay has millions of TRUE fans behind him.

      4. Where did you defending Nas against comments of people justifiably comparing him to Jay come from? You won’t see Nas getting measured like other GOAT contenders? Take him out of the conversation then. There’s no GOAT who only has an internet fanbase. Well, to some delusional, internet-living idiots he is, but not and never to the real world.

      5. ^^^Exactly. Those are good numbers for Nas, and he has never been a person to just make music that sounds like every other artist, so a lot of close-minded folks who buy music aren’t gonna buy it. They’ll DL to check it, but then make bs comments because it doesn’t sound like 80% of the shit out there.

I own albums from both Nas and Jay, and I prefer Nas over him anyday. Nas is better plain and simple.

      6. It’s obvcious you’re a retard. Nas is one of the most influencial MCs in hip-hop; Q-Tip said that “he’s your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper.” Also, if Nas only has internet fans, he wouldn’t have 6 #1 albums and still be here after 20 years. You’re a dumbass. He is one of the GOAT alongside Pac, Biggie, Jay, and Em.

Also, pop IS a genre of music, dumbass. it’s not just another way of saying popular. if it’s not a genre of music, then what do you call Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney Spears, Christina Augilera, Lady Gagag, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, etc.?

      7. why are you comparing nas numbers to jay??nas and jay beef was over years ago they are two of the best that ever did it period!!eric b and rakim, krs 1 big daddy kane never went platinum but vanilla ice and hammer sold over 10 million records a piece what that being said numbers dont mean your better than a nother person

      8. ETHER? What is that? The Ether that had absolutely ZERO affect on Jay’s career? How did that single W for Nas turn out though? Should I remind you? Nas swallowed his own pride and words (“Def Jam is evil”) by signing to Jay. LMAO. Fucking delusional ass dickriders.

Stop that BULLSHIT ass argument with Vanilla Ice and shit. Nas SHOULD be on Jay’s level, there’s NO way around it. Both are on the same skill level, both are critically acclaimed, what should you do if you wanna make out the real GOAT? You LIKE Nas more? Well, that’s an OPINION, the FACT is that Jay has 14 Grammy’s and 11 number albums. Let Nas stans champion popular opinion to put him over Rakim, Cormega or G Rap, let a Jay fan use FACTS and the shit yall use in other arguments be damned. Fuck outta here. All I see is fucking dickriders.

      9. STFU, Nas hater. You’re dickriding Jay Z.What you said on that first paragraph was true. New Yorkers agreed that Nas had the better diss. Even Jay admitted that Ether was fire.

    43. When Jay drops an album its big news, when Em drops an album its news, heck even when Wayne drops an album its a headliner … Nas is just another artist, he’s no icon.

      1. Word. A dude, who is so fucking overrated on the internet, will NEVER be the GOAT. Why’s there such a huge discrepancy between Nas’ internet praise and his actual movements in the real word? LMAO.

    44. Yall can’t be seriouse right? Nas been putting in work way before half the niggas in the game and as far as pop lol how u figure nas is pop didnt understand that but anyways may I recall half he industry took some swag from nas ……nas did his first album at 18 illmatic wit no famouse guest appearances bak when snoop dre and the west coast was popping jayz is not on nas level Plc stop comparing learn ur hiphop which half of u clearly don’t know and realize nas is hiphop!

      1. What do you know? Fucking idiot. Nas took his WHOLE style from Tragedy Khadafi, Rakim and Kool G Rap and jumped on the mafia train after it was made popular by Jay and Raekwon. NOBODY was giving a fuck about Illmatic when it dropped, so Nas decided to get a made up, more commercially accessible persona in order to sell. Who’s the real sellout now? What are you? Another internet cocksucker who says Jay ain’t on Nas level? Do you ever go out? The WHOLE world thinks otherwise.

      2. Both of you are fucking idiots. Nas has his own style. It’s JayZ Z who’s unoriginal and biting styles.

      3. I never said Jay started it, but Nas followed through after seeing others being more commercially successful than him. So he got at Steve Stoute, who created a fake ass, made up mafia image for him. He praised himself for having no famous guest appearances on his debut, but got at Lauryn Hill to get commercial attention. He traded Large Pro, Pete Rock and Q-Tip for overproduced, polished Trackmasters mainstream trash and kept a few Premo beats to make his sellout itentions not so blatantly obvious. Nas has his own style? You just exposed yourself, bitch ass loser. Rakim, G Rap and Khadafi gave Nas his whole style, he just dumbed it down to make it more accessible for the commerical audience and run with it. The Ether he got from R wasn’t undeserved.

    45. finally all you Nas dick riders can shut up about him being king of hip hop… all 150,000 of you.

      1. Album sales dont mean shit you brainwashed piece of shit. No one expected him to sell that many physical copies you brain dead hater. Go dick ride someone else for their money and fame.

    46. It seems that Nas’ dickriders aren’t there when it comes to supporting their hero. Wow, the dude who dropped Illmatic can’t sell more than 150k in the first week? Dude should be at Jay’s level. What can these cocksuckers say now? Jay stayed popular by being only himself, while he birthed several legendary careers. What did Nas do? He maneuvered his ass to his long, underwhelming career while using countless gimmick and appearing under multiple, current trendy personas and chumming himself to all the critics with his following album.

      1. Already knew there would be a faggot like this in the comments lmao. Dude who gives a fuck? Only like 3 people have went platinum this year and one of them bought half the units themselves. Most people prolly bought this digitally or just downloaded it, either way like I said. WHO GIVES A FUCK?! SHUT THE FUCK UP!

      2. Oh, I see Jay fans destroying Nas groupies with ARGUMENTS and what are these dumb ass Nas stans capable of? “You’re a hater.” Fuck outta here, because you clearly can’t deal with the truth. You attack the messager because you can’t deny the essence of the message. Off yourself.

    47. And may I recall as far as the album sales for 1st week that’s amazing numbers considering it coming from a hiphop artist……jayz lilwayne get surpassed #s we understand but they not hiphop artist! So for a real hiphop artist o get #1 album is amazing u don’t see that often…hiphop is back

      1. LMAO. Jay signed Nas, J. Cole and Jay Electronica, he is more critically acclaimed than Nas and got 14 Grammy’s. BTW, he gave that lame ass Nas a style with Reasonable Doubt.

      2. You’re a dumbass. Nas has his own style. Jay Z doesn’t have his own style. besides, having a grammy doesn’t make you the best rapper.

      3. Yes, he did. And he himself admitted it several times.

But I got your point, Nas is the beginning of Hip Hop and absoluteley flawless. Everytime he opens his mouth, he creates a classic.

    48. NaS tried to sell out so many times so to do 149k is actually quite bad, however this album is pretty good, I’d suggest buying the deluxe edition (3 of the 4 deluxe tracks are better then almost the entire regular album,) and I’m glad theres only 1-2 fail sell out songs on this album unlike alot of his other albums

      1. ^ You’re a fucking dickrider. Your opinion doesn’t hold wore weight than a white guy calling Eminem the GOAT.

    49. Nas fans honestly can’t be happy with his career. He constantly shits on you guys be co-signing all these wack mainstream acts but he himself can’t even sell records.

His whole career is just a big contradiction.

    50. It’s a waste of time y’all clearly don’t have knowledge! Nas been king he proved it wit the battle wit jay and jay still on his dick be serious

    51. Young Money dick riders are flocking all over the comment section hahahah. Fuck niggas have nothing better to do!

      1. why would YM fans hate on Nas ?

NAS CO-SIGNS ALL THEIR WACKNESS AND DOES TRACKS WITH THEM BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    52. You guys are fucking delusional. Did your punk ass sell 150,000 albums in one week? NO. Acting like thats bad or some shit lol, you clowns are hilarious.

    53. Pretty good numbers considering he had no hit singles…Chris brown had like 3-4 hit songs and grammy buzz and he only did 130K first week. Unlike other flavor of the month/year type artists, Nas actually has a real fanbase who will always cop.

    54. ALBUM FOR ALBUM jay-z>>>>>>>>>>>nas.Now this is not a diss to nas its the truth jay-z has 5 to 6 certified classic albums and 4 to 5 near misses

      1. What means lyrical though? Subject matter? Nah.

G Rap, Black Thought, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco are all lyrically better than Nas. So, I’m sure you take them over him?

And NO, lyrical ability is NOT the only thing that matters, you fucking idiot. This is MUSIC, if you didn’t get it yet. How about reading poetry? While you could make a case for Nas having a more diverse subject matter, Jay is actually better in all aspects of rap. Better song structure, far superior flow, more complex rhyme-schemes and better double-entendres. And a storytelling song in Meet The Parents that rivals Nas’ best work.

      2. He has 3 certified classics, RD, BP & Black Album, I’d also argue for Vol. 1. Nas has 3 as well, Illmatic, It Was Written, & Stillmatic, I’d also argue for The Lost Tapes. They both have several great albums as well. I do agree that Jay’s discography is better, but Nas is the better rapper, especially after Jay’s unretirement.

      3. Let me see Nas coming up with somehting along the lines of Grammy Family Freestyle. He won’t, because he’s still riding the legacy wave of Illmatic.

      4. “Jeah, look
I’m so far ahead of my time, I’m bout to start another life
Look behind you, I’m bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I’m fast, niggaz can’t get past my past
How they propose to deal with my perfect present?
When I unwrap “The Gift & the Curse” in one session
Ain’t no livin person can test him
Only two restin in heaven can be mentioned in the same breath as him
Seven straight summers, critics might not admit it
But nobody in rap did it, quite like I did it”

Nas doesn’t have a DECODED to his name. Comprehend Jay’s verse on Shiny Suit Theory before you come up with another failed dickriding attempt.

        “Tears on the mauseoleum floor
        Blood stains the coliseum doors
Lies of the lips of a priest
        Thanksgiving disguised as a feast
        Rollin’ in the Rolls-Royce Corniche
Only the doctors got this, I’m hidin’ from police
        Cocaine seats
All white like I got the whole thing bleached
        Drug dealer chic
        I’m wonderin’ if a dove’s prayers reach
It’s pious Pius, the god loves Pius
Socrates asks, “Whose bias do y’all seek?”
        Or for Plato, the screech
I’m out chere ballin’, I know you hear my sneaks
Jesus was a carpenter, Yeezy, he lay beats
Hova flow the Holy Ghost, get the hell up out your seats
        Preach”

Jay: “I father, I Brooklyn Dodger them. I jack, I rob, I sin. Aww man, I’m Jackie Robinson ‘cept when I run base, I dodge the pen”

        “Suckers
        Get your weight up
        Not your hate up
        Jigga man is diesel
When I lift the eight up”

“The theme song to The Sopranos
Plays in the key of life on my mental piano
Got a strange way of seeing life like
I’m Stevie Wonder with beads under the doo-rag
Intuition is there even when my vision’s impaired, yeah
Knowing I can go, just switching a spare
On the highway of life, nigga it’s sharp in my sight
Oh! Keen senses ever since I was a teen on the benches
Every time somebody like Ennis was mentioned
I would turn green, me, being in the trenches
Him, living adventureous, not worrying about expenditures
I’m braving temperatures below zero, no hero
No father figure, you gotta pardon a nigga
But I’m starving, my niggas, and the weight loss in my figure
Is starting to darken my heart, ’bout to get to my liver
Watch it my niggas, I’m trying to be calm but I’m gon’ get richer
Through any means, with that thing that Malcolm palmed in the picture
Never read the Qu’ran or Islamic scriptures
Only psalms I read was on the arms of my niggas
Tattooed so I carry on like I’m non-religious
Clap whoever stand between Shawn and figures
Niggas say it’s the dawn, but I’m superstitious
Shit is as dark as it’s been, nothing has gone as you predicted
I move with biscuits, stop the heart of niggas acting too suspicious
This is food for thought — you do the dishes”

“I’m from the place where the chruch is the flakiest
And niggas is praying to god so long that they Atheist
Where you can’t put your vest away and say you’ll wear it tomorrow
Cause the day after we’ll be saying, damn I was just with him yesterday
I’m a block away from hell, not enough shots away from straight shells
An ounce away from a triple beam still using a hand-held weight scale
Your laughing, you know the place well
Where the Liqour Store’s and the base well
And Government, fuck Government, niggas polotic themselves
Where we call the cops the A-Team
cause they hop out of vans and spray things
And life expectancy so low we making out wills at eight-teen
Where how you get rid of guys who step out of line, your rep solidifies
So tell me when I rap you think I give a fuck who criticize?
If the shit is lies, god strike me
And I got a question, are you forgiving guys who live just like me?
        We’ll never know”

“I’m from where the hammer’s rung, New’s cameras never come
You and your man’s hung in every verse in your rhyme
where the grams is slung, niggas vanish every summer
Where the blue vans would come, we throw the work in the can and run
Where the plans was to get funds and skate off the set
To achieve this goal quicker, sold all my weight wet
Faced with immeasurable odds still I get straight bets
So I felt some more something and you nothing check
I from the other side with other guys don’t walk to much
And girls in the projects wouldn’t fuck us if we talked too much

I don’t know what the fuck they thought, those niggas is foul just like us
I’m from where the beef is inevitable, Summertime’s unforgetable
Boosters in abundance, buy a half-price sweater new
Your world was everything, So everything you said you’d do
You did it, Couldn’t talk about it if you ain’t lived it”

“This shit is wicked on these mean streets
        None of my friends speak
We’re all trying to win, but then again
Maybe it’s for the best though, ’cause when they’re seeing too much
You know they’re trying to get you touched
Whoever said illegal was the easy way out couldn’t understand the
        mechanics
And the workings of the underworld, granted
Nine to five is how to survive, I ain’t trying to survive
I’m trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot
        Life ills, poison my body
I used to say ‘fuck mic skills,’ and never prayed to God, I prayed to
        Gotti
        That’s right it’s wicked, that’s life I live it
Ain’t asking for forgiveness for my sins, endz
I break bread with the late heads, picking their brains for angles on
all the evils that the game’ll do
It gets dangerous, money and power is changing us
And now we’re lethal, infected with D’Evils”

“My mind is infested, with sick thoughts that circle
like a Lexus, if driven wrong it’s sure to hurt you
Dual level like duplexes, in unity, my crew and me
commit atrocities like we got immunity
You guessed it, manifest it in tangible goods
Platinum Rolexed it, we don’t lease
we buy the whole care, as you should
My confederation, dead a nation, EXPLODE
on detonation, overload the mind of a said patient
When it balls to steam, it comes to it
we all fiends gotta do it, even righteous minds go through this
True this, history school us to spend our money foolish
Bond with jewellers and, watch for intruders
I stepped it up another level, meditated like a buddhist
Recruited lieutenants with ludicrous, dreams of
gettin cream let’s do this, it gets tedious
So I keep one eye open like, C-B-S, ya see me
        stressed right? Can I live?”

You don’t know shit about real lyrics.

    55. “1 HOT ALBUM EVERY 10 YEAR AVERAGE”

We’ve been waiting since 94′ … when are we gonna get that hot album Nas ???

      1. It’s obvious this guy lives under a rock. he hasn’t heard IWW, Stillmatic, HHID, God’s Son, Untitled, Lost Tapes, and Distant Relatives.

    56. Whoever dats stil replying to the 30 yr old anonymous bleeding bitch or rex that constantly spews ignorance on a Nas post is just as dumb as him. Why dnt y’all just let him continue to reply to his own post like d lunatic he is instead of fueling his stupidity.

    57. dude has no huge singles and still sells almost 150k, damn Nas did it, much better then Untitled album

    58. Hip hop fans can be embarrassing sometimes. I vow to stop reading comments posted on Hip Hop sites for the sake of my own IQ and mental stability.

      1. so you bought two hiphop albums and a pussy ass R&B album. you made a big mistake for buying Take Care, unless it’s for your daughter.

      2. ^^^oh you one of those to hard for females type or you must dont get pussy i know you not fucking no chicks

      3. What? I thought you meant Life Is Good with “soft ass R&B album”. Damn, some of you take music way too seriously. Very insecure.

      4. dumbass niggas. you’re assuming that just because a nigga don’t listen to Drake, that means he don’t get pussy? you drake stans are so dumb. and to the guy below me, Life Is Good is far from R&B. I’m talking about Take Care.

      5. dumbass nigga. you’re assuming that just because a nigga listens to Drake, that means he’s gay? you drake haters are so dumb. and to the guy above me, Life Is Good is actually filled with R&B elements. LOL. You’re using the same stereotypes that you tried to avoid when people hit you with the truth about Nas. Fuck outta here, you dumb fuck.

      6. What? I don’t even listen to Drake, you fucking loser. All I seen was Nas starring in Nicki Minaj’s video, desperately crying for attention. And yet, he failed to sellout for ANOTHER time.

Fuck it, I don’t even care about Drake, it’s just pure fun to piss off you disgusting Nas stans, it works everytime. So easy to get under yall over-sensitive ass groupies skin.

You’re doing exactly the same things that you accuse other people of. No wonder though, Nas is the biggest hypocrite to ever walk on earth, so I didn’t expect his fans to act logical.

      7. So what if he was in a video with Nicki? He obviously got paid for it. Nas never attempted to sell out. You’re just talking outta your ass. If you don’t like Nas so much, why are you here?

      8. Fans and critics feared that Nas' career was declining, artistically and commercially, as both I Am... and Nastradamus were criticized as inconsistent. says:

Because I can voice my honest opinion? If you don’t like Drake, why are you so obsessed with him? I’m NOT talking out of my ass. I was there when Nas’ career happened, I’m not some dickrider like you that got put onto him after I got access to the internet. You just REPEAT what you heard everywhere else.

“Music writers criticized its mainstream, R&B and pop-leaning sound, as well as the enlistment of a top production unit and popular guest artists. The album’s lyrics and themes were also poorly received and heavily dismissed as an attempt by Nas to follow the popularity of gangsta and mafiaso rap. Rolling Stone’s Mark Coleman wrote negatively of Nas’s themes and called it “the latest blatant example of trashy tough-guy talk”, writing “Certainly he strikes a note of creepy realism in his stories of heavyweight dealing and literally cutthroat competition. ‘The Set Up’, ‘Shootouts’ and ‘Affirmative Action’ […] are chilling in their how-many-grams-to-a-kilo detail and utter amorality. On ‘Watch Dem Niggas’, Nas cites as inspirations both the boxing coach Cus D’Amato and the murderous drug lord Pablo Escobar. What is this guy thinking?”

Learn something before you decide to dickride an artist that you don’t know shit about.

      9. “Nas has been disappointing people nearly half his life. By now, the passion play of raised and swiftly dashed hopes that occurs whenever he announces a new album has repeated itself enough times to officially qualify as farce. You’d think he’d be exhausted by now, and there were times over his last three sleepwalking efforts when he sounded just that: a guy wearily familiar with his own towering mythology, and increasingly disinterested in living up to it.”

“Not that it’s going to matter. Whether Nas intended to actually follow through with his incendiary, original album title, he’s been treating his own self-fulfilling martyrdom as the record’s main goal. (See the claim on “Hero”: “Try telling Bob Dylan, Bruce, and Billy Joel they can’t sing what’s in they soul/ So Untitled it is/ I never changed nothing.”) Whatever the unfettered vision for the record, through masterful PR work, Nas has given ample reason for listeners to blame everyone but himself for his most cynical and arguably worst album yet. At least Nastradamus was up front about being a shitty crossover bid.
The most frustrating thing is that this could have been a solid record. But now, how is Nas going to come off like he intended Untitled to be an unflinching look at race relations and yet somehow leave off the track he did with stic.man? Worse still, the righteous message of “Association” (strength through interaction with those who inspire you) is forsaken for the stilted, spoken-word ramblings of “Testify”, in which Nas accuses white downloaders of being unwilling to “ride” with him for whatever reason. And what about the hallucinogenic “Esco Let’s Go”, where he fantasized about “[writing] hood movies like Posse and Five Heartbeats” while summoning Elizabeth Taylor for career advice? Instead, we get an elderly German rhyming “knotty head” with “Nazi sled” (“America”), “Breathe” and its boring consumption rhymes (“First I cop/ Then I yacht”– do go on!), and the gutless “Make the World Go Round” in which Nas, Chris Brown, and Cool & Dre top even Fat Joe in terms of trend-hopping insincerity, toasting to ballers, gangstas, hustlas, and the very same ringtone rappers he was willing to throw under the bus just two years ago when it was convenient for his public image.”

“When caught up in the increasingly antiquated promotional cycle, Nas is more likely to rely on ugly manipulation of people who tend to care way more about his work than he apparently does, and accomplish the exact opposite of what he presumptively set out for– see how Stillmatic took advantage of those who needed to believe that it had equal footing with The Blueprint (illustrated by The Source’s hilariously opportunistic 5-mic rating). See how Hip-Hop Is Dead took advantage of people willing to believe that Nas had anything trenchant to say about a game that increasingly sounded like it didn’t need him anymore. Thanks to about a half-hour’s worth of music made nearly 15 years ago, Nas will never lack a following, and the press battles surrounding Untitled will keep his name hot enough so we can do the same thing all over again in 2010, when he announces the release of his new album, McCain Killa.”

      10. so you’re just using reviews from his two worst albums. what’s the point? every rapper has one or two terrible albums. it doesn’t affect his legacy.

    59. 1. If you let sales numbers determine who is dope and who is not, your opinion is invalid.
      2. Concert money >>>>>>> Money off album sales.
      3. Selling 100K+ should be considered a win in this climate. He was projected to sell around 120K and came out with around 150K, that’s not bad. I saw someone mention Adele going on to sell 20 million (!!) copies of her album but that leads me to…
      3. Hip Hop fans are some of the most self-righteous cats on the planet. Demand quality, download the shit out of music, demand free music in the form of mixtapes, then DON’T EVEN BUY the albums of the artists they “support”. Answer me this: What other genre of music do artist give away shit for free? Adele gotta new mixtape dropping between projects? Fuck. No.

You guys can go back to the pointless Nas/Jay argument now.

      1. ^^ Thanks. Calling me a troll is synonymous whit admitting that everything I said was true.

People are hit with the truth, they’re trying to attack the guy who says the truth instead of the message.

    60. look this is a dope album its deserving of the no. 1 slot. What other album that came out this summer, matter a fact since WWT that’s better than L.I.G. Nothing. Real Rap don’t be a dick rider close your eyes in listen Good will always be Good No matter if hip hop , rnb, rock, country, jazz, fusion, if it’s good music you can’t front on it.

    61. Nas haters get extra heated when Nas has success. They’re posting here more than Nas fans. 149,000 is a solid outing for music with 0 promo and airtime. Sure other rappers sell more but be happy that your favorite artist is affluent rather than dissing another artist. Where do any of us benefit from Nas’ or Drake’s album sales other than the one copy we own? If you’re a Drake or Lil’ Wayne fan just know that they’re gonna put up big numbers each outing but will never be heralded as the best to ever do it. If you’re a Nas fan just know that you’re gonna get music that’s critically acclaimed but may never go Gold. That’s just how it goes nowadays. Now, stop arguing like high school cheerleaders bickering about who gave the team Quarterback better head.

    62. ANOTHER failed sellout attempt for this fucking clown. I bet Kelis is really disappointed at these sales, she was hoping to get some real money. This loser whores himself through the whole ringtone industry, gets the hottest rapper of the moment, does a HORRIBLE sellout track with Swizz Beatz and STILL fails to sellout. What an embarrassing piece of shit.

      1. HATER FAIL. Nas got the number 1 album in the cuntry. he was projected to sell 120k 1st week and ended up selling 149kk. this is not a sellout attempt, dumbass.

      2. ^^ DICKRIDER FAIL. Nas is a legend, should be a mogul by now. You lost by default. All I see is you sucking off Nas all over the whole page. Does it affect you psychologically when somebody insults Nas? Get some fucking help. Damn, I’m sure you’re alright with Nas fucking your mother, to tell you the truth, he doesn’t like all that gay shit you’re doing here, hence the homophobia in Ether.

      3. MORE HATER FAIL. You spend your entire day talking shit about Nas. Does it hurt you when Nas gains success? The only thing you bring is insults and I answer back with facts. You Nas haters need to be lined up in a public park and get shot in the head one by one.

BTW, not every hip-hop legend is destined to be a mogul like Jay Z. Nas is at a point in his career where he can do whatever the fuck he wants.

      4. Oh, wow. You’re capable of the same trashy tough guy talk that Nas perfected on IWW? Everything I said was true, you just trying to handaway facts by discrediting me. I hope Nas rewards you some day for all that dickriding.

      5. Nigga, nothing you said was true. besides, every rapper talks trash. if you’re gonna single out Nas for that shit, you might as well single out every other rapper.

      6. I find it funny that all of the people hating on Nas (or any rapper for that matter) are all named Anonymous. Fuckin’ clowns.

    63. To all of the Nas haters, who has the number one album in the country this week?

I didn’t think so. Fall back.

      1. The made up mind of a retard has nothing to do with the truth. Life Is Good is shitty, horribly executed R&B album, filled with wack beats and terrible rhymes.

      2. See, that’s where you’re wrong.

“shitty, horribly executed R&B album, filled with wack beats and terrible rhymes.”

You’re thinking of Take Care. Life Is Good is far from that.

    64. “besides, having a grammy doesn’t make you the best rapper”

It only means you’re popular, bankable, and viewed by the music industry as being one of the elite.

    65. To all you Jay-z assclowns:

STOP w/ the revisionist history ‘oh Jay ethered himself w/ the Supa Ugly diss’ bullshit. Notice how the root word of the verb you used is ‘Ether’? LOL… ask Em, Jada, Fat Joe, Beans, HELL THE WHOLE ROC TEAM WHILE JAY WAS SITTING IN THEIR PRESENCE… Jay got bodied. Not too mention him crying on Hot97 like a little bitch… ‘Ehh… (sob) (sob) that was just far man… very vulgar’ GTFOH. Ether not factual? Guess Jay never was on Nas’ jock for samples and features on albums he later claimed to be wack, guess he didn’t constantly bite BIG while claiming to be better, guess he never said he did tae bo, never got roasted on Renegade, never took the blame for stabbing Un Rivera. On another note… GUESS NAS NEVER DISSED JAY ON HIS OWN TRACK

Right… actually all of those things happened… and apparently 1 hot album in 10 years is factual too, even though IWW is as good as or better than any disc in Jay’s entire catalogue… LOL

Fuck off with your tired rehashing of the beef anyways cause no one cares… WTT? BP3? Kingdom Come? I got weed plates on my coffee table that get more play than those wack ass discs… but at least Jay is staying relevant by having Kanye carry his washed up ass LOL… plus dropping heat like that ‘3 KINGS’ verse right? That shit makes Oochie Wally look like a classic

I have said this many times and I will say this again… CATALOGUE IS WHAT MATTERS… Illmatic, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, IWW, Godson, and LIG put those up against Jays six best discs and tell me Nas doesn’t own his ass

LOL… Hov is in my top 5 but keep his fucking name out of this thread… I know you Jay stans are feeling sensitive since Nas dropped another classic… then you act like Nas stans are the most disgusting group of people cause they defend him when you faggots catch feelings like ‘oh that LIG is tight better degrade Nas to make myself feel better about liking Jay’… and then you act like Nas stans have the inferiority complex… you realize you can like both MCs at the same time right? Didnt think so

      OH BEHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAVVVEE

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH choke that rod til it pokes out the back of your threat fuckboys

      1. @Coma, Cosignee to the fullest, u just ethered these lames and i must tell u its just one anonymous bitch that bleeding un contralably on a Nas post whenever he drops a gem on his fav rapper which happens to be Jay, Vakil n Cormega, lool. Some peeps dont deserve response so i just watch d bitch make a fool of himself

      2. “Right… actually all of those things happened… and apparently 1 hot album in 10 years is factual too, even though IWW is as good as or better than any disc in Jay’s entire catalogue… LOL”

That is your biased opinion. You’ll find thousands of others who’ll put Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime Vol. 1, The Blueprint, The Black Album and American Gangster or WTT over it.

“Fuck off with your tired rehashing of the beef anyways cause no one cares… WTT? BP3? Kingdom Come? I got weed plates on my coffee table that get more play than those wack ass discs… but at least Jay is staying relevant by having Kanye carry his washed up ass LOL… plus dropping heat like that ‘3 KINGS’ verse right? That shit makes Oochie Wally look like a classic”

You apparently care because I see you crying about critique against Nas everytime. And you try to dismiss it with the same dickriding ass rhetoric over and over.

Distant Relatives? Hip Hop Is Dead? Untitled?

But at least Nas is staying relevant by featuring all the artists he threw under the bus and doing an album with Damian Marley, who reminded him of what quality beats were.

How would Jay look by not working with Kanye, one of the greatest musical minds this genre has ever faced? You just mad that Nas is still choosing that Salaam Remi trash instead of Kanye producing something that would eclipse his entire catalouge.

Plus Nas dropping heat like “Another Girl Lost”, right? Shit makes the “3 Kings” verse look like “Where I’m From”.

“I have said this many times and I will say this again… CATALOGUE IS WHAT MATTERS… Illmatic, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, IWW, Godson, and LIG put those up against Jays six best discs and tell me Nas doesn’t own his ass”

Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime Vol. 1, The Blueprint, The Black Album, American Gangster and WTT, all of which make Nas’ catalouge look even weaker musically and lyrically than it already is.

“LOL… Hov is in my top 5 but keep his fucking name out of this thread… I know you Jay stans are feeling sensitive since Nas dropped another classic… then you act like Nas stans are the most disgusting group of people cause they defend him when you faggots catch feelings like ‘oh that LIG is tight better degrade Nas to make myself feel better about liking Jay’… and then you act like Nas stans have the inferiority complex… you realize you can like both MCs at the same time right? Didnt think so”

Nas is in my top 5, but stop comparing him to Jay. You Nas stans are just overly excited because Nas dropped his first hot album since Stillmatic, which is the testimony to Jay’s 10 year old claim. What’s happening now the is the same exact fuckery that occured when Stillmatic dropped, people dickriding and overrating the fuck out of Nas because he made a decent effort after all his prior albums were complete trash. You overestimate this album because it’s that rare, lightning in a bottle moment where Nas groupies can be confidenet his work. This is Nas’ American Gangster, enjoy that album and the moment, stan, it will be another 10 hunger-filled years ’til you get another hot Nas CD.

        I’M ON MY LILO & STITCH/
        KELIS AIN’T A POLITICIAN, HONEY’S A POLE-TICIAN/
        HATERS CHEAP AS LIMOUSINE LIQUOR/
MY PISS YELLOW LIKE THE HAIR ON A MALIBU SURFER/

      3. fuckas sayin this is his hottest album since Stillmatic…..

WTF do u call God’s Son? trash?

Get Down? Made You Look? Revolutionary Warfare? Last Real Nigga Alive? Warrior’s Song? I Can?

what album were u Jay-Z stans listening to?

      4. Have you not been listening to Jay post-retirement? Not doing so well on the features… Ye has killed him repeatedly, Pusha T has as well, Nicki Minaj, even ALICIA KEYS TRUMPED HIS ASS ON HIS OWN RECORD… this dude is clearly not operating at a high level

And you know why I can rip Jay based on his using Kanye as a crutch? Because Kanye is quite arguably a better artist than Jay and probably the best producer ever… dude is nice and Jay hasn’t had a verse as tight as new god flow since the diamonds remix… the way Jay is looking? Ye is keeping him on life support and Nas is doing his best not to hop on tracks with him to spare his stans the embarassment

See Nas isn’t defined by any other artist like Jay is bud… need I mention the countless BIG rhymes, hey even a few nas ones… but hes no biter I know

Has the dude ever made a record where the majority of his themes don’t involve yay slinging, clowning hoes, fashion, or being better than everyone else? I have listened to all his records and yes his wordplay is ultraslick and the double entendres can be exceedingly clever BUT ITS ALL ABOUT FLOSSING KIDS… wait but I thought Jay did it for hip hop [and got owned by Nas and Luda]? Or did he do 5 mil and not rhyming like Common since? I’m confused… or maybe Jay contradicts himself

Jay is incapable of making records like IWW or LIG because his subject matter is hardly multidimensional and his concepts are nonexistent [cue the predictable grammy family freestyle bullshit I know]… is this seriously something you have failed to notice? Does subject matter count for nothing?

Even if nas takes 10 years before another classic it will still be delivered before Jay can come through… and putting WTT in that list of the best six albums is preposterous… Vol.2 and Dynasty best that shit any day of the week… I knew I was a more astute Jay fan than this dude

      1. Little to no promotion? You must’ve had no internet connection for the last six months. All the features he did don’t count? You forgot the failed radio singles “Summer On Smash” and “The Don”? They were leaking one song after another, hoping one would fucking stick.

      2. But that’s due to his own hitmaking disability (Summer On Smash).

Why did he get at No I.D.? Because he saw Common and Jay getting praised for working with him, another example of Nas’ being an insecure assclown who deals with identity crisis.

      3. There you go again lying. Nas was never the guy to sell singles. In fact, he sold more albums than singles. Not every rapper can sell singles like Flo Rida.

And you bring up one of the only two wack songs on Life Is Good (the other one was Accidential Murders w. Rick Ross). You’re the epitome of a retarded hater.

      4. I’m not lying, I only typed up facts, acknowledged his greatness (Illmatic, Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes)

You fuck the shit outta him and act like he’s absoluteley flawless.

And why are so obsessed with pop trash (Flo-Rida, Drake)

So to go back to my point, he COULDN’T sell singles, that doesn’t mean that he DIDN’T TRY. What is so hard to get about that? I Am and Nastradamus are the absolute worst, shitty crossover bids I’ve heard in my entire life. Nas is just an insecure, confused trend-hopping clown in disguise who appears to be a real rapper, only to land another flop with his next, formulated sellout attempt.

BTW, only real rappers are the ones on an independet basis.

    66. Well, Nas doesn’t care one bit about his dickriders. He won’t work with Premo, he won’t give AZ a place on his album, he gave Raekwon an old verse, he proudly works with all the artists that Nas core fan base hates. He ethered himself by putting out a compilation that is superior to 90% of his albums.

But, he’s insecure and cares about all his haters, hence him falling for the trap of critique, resulting into him being confused as fuck, he’s rotating personas for every trend, he contradicts himself with every album, because all the criticism got under his skin.

Finally, Jay is responsible for his second best album (Stillmatic).

      1. All I see is you calling EVERYTHING that isn’t preferable for Nas untrue.

Him not working with Premo anymore ain’t true? Him scrapping AZ off Life Is Good ain’t true? Him handing Raekwon the verse he already dropped on Sha Stimuli’s song ain’t true? Him working with YM, that all of Nas fans hate on ain’t true? Him going from the crime-glorifying don to the africa-loving philanthropist ain’t true? Him COMPLETELY changing after Takeover ain’t true? So, he didn’t need Jay to remind him of his old self, because I Am and Nastradamus were his two best albums, right?

Damn, there’s no word in the english language to describe your level of delusion accurately.

It’s just ridiculous at this point. Your whole perception is fucked up, you’re drowned in Nasir’s cum.

      2. You lost, bitch. You AVOIDED every single of the hundreds of arguments I made and everytime you was hanging in the ropes, you got back at me with the same tired ass insults, it’s written out, human L, you can’t turn that one around. I tried to tell you the truth, but you wouldn’t listen.

Just tragic that this didn’t happen on a real forum, I have a history of ripping overly sensitive Nas groupies apart.

      3. Dude, you lost. You’re basically a hater who hates seeing other brothers succeed. You knock Nas for trying to get his money and spew hatred all around. Nas is one of the best MCs in hip-hop history and there’s nothing your hating ass can’t do about it. Kill yourself.

      4. so who was responsible for the success of God’s Son? like dude said above, think before u speak….

      5. jay got one hot album out of four you listed, easily american gangster is the best one of those albums, the rest where garbage, kingdom come was really trash, blueprint 3 was trash they just sold well, doesnt mean they were classic, Get off the Hate nas bandwagon Life is Good!!! Ha Ha!!

      6. Well, Life ain’t good for Nas because he’s crying all over his album, can’t get over his EX and is rapping in a highly depressive manner. Covering it up with more celebratory tracks (Nasty, The Don, Summer On Smash) ain’t doing it, boi.

    67. It’s hilarious watching the same 2, 3 Jay-Z stans getting upset whenever Nas wins. People like his song? They get cussed out and called dickriders, he has a number 1 debut? He didn’t sell enough…Why are you so insecure? lol I rarely ever see Nas fans basing Jay on articles. Are you that mad that he lost the battle? Damn, it’s not that serious. Nas and Jay got over it, why can’t you? Maybe you should consider getting a life.

      1. There’s nothing to mad about, Jay’s career is alive and well, bigger than ever, Nas’ is nearing it’s end. And you making a diss track the crowning achievement of Nas’ career says more about Nas than it says about Jay losing that one battle (that had zero affect and gets only recited by deluded retards)

      2. You’re the retard here. Nas’ career is doing well, also. Gaining another #1 album is far from the end for Nas. Think before you speak.

      3. Hip Hop Is Dead – 355,880
        Untitled – 187,078
        Life Is Good – 149,000
        Distant Relatives – 57,000
        Up next – 120,000

        Kingdom Come – 680,000
        American Gangster – 425,861
        Blueprint 3 – 476,000
        Watch The Throne – 436,000

Summer On Smash – Double wood
Empire State of Mind – 3 Platinum

You don’t see the difference, do you?

        Fucking idiot.

Stay reciting Ether that had no affect. In fact, Jay turned out to be even more successful after it.

Jay made Nas his bitch by signing him and bounced to leave his wack ass rot.

      4. In this climate, EVERYONE will get a number 1# album, shit means absolutely nothing, while Jay will hit plat with every single album til’ he retires.

      5. You’re the fucking idiot here. Nas’ career is doing well. That’s a fact. Everything you said aside from the sales (except for that Swizz Beats song which was never released as a single, but a leak) is untrue and irrelevant. Go trolling somewhere else.

      6. You stay shitting on yourself. Everything I said was true, being proved by the fact that you try to dismiss it with a following, biased comment, that only proves my stance further. A liar wouldn’t get so much attention, would he? A lie doesn’t need countless novels to be exposed. People hate to be confronted with the truth and the word “hater” is the last straw you deluded ass dickriders got.

Just to make you lose some more sleep, I’m going nowhere, you sad, little cocksucker.

      7. Of course Jay Z will sell a lot of albums; he’s a pop star. Nas is not that; that’s why he doesn’t sell as much as Jay Z.

      8. @Anonymous

Everything you said is far from the truth. You have nothing better to than bash a dude who has more success than you and at this point, you’re trolling.

      9. You trying to make Nas look more relevant by hinting at half a decade old albums makes Nas career look even more desperate. You working backwards, b. Why you even bothering anymore? You will be taken to school time after time again. But your masochistic, insecure ass loves the ego-crushing, soul-burning uppercut that hits you everytime I comment, huh? Stay dickriding a dude who isn’t aware of your existence. But I tell you one thing, if you ever meet Nas, don’t appear in the way you do now, cause Nas doesn’t like that gay shit around him.

      10. I SEE 7 PAGES OF ANONYMOUS INTERNET NAS STANS HATING ON JAY-Z SUCCESS IN THIS COMMENT SECTION ALONE. GTFO NIGGA

      11. Fuck you dickriding motherfuckers. Nas went pop(ular) as soon as he released IWW, which was filled with cheesy hooks, glossy Trackmaster beats and horrible materialistic, tough talk rhymes. He bascially contradicted himself and all the things he said on Illmatic by trading reality-based content for made up mafia stories, brought to you by Steve Stoute. Betraying what you stand for (QB poet) dumbing down your content, bowing down to mainstream media, is the absolute definition of sellling out. Just because Nas didn’t succeed at the level of Jay doesn’t mean that he ain’t a sellout. Retard.

Nas ain’t mainstream, right, that’s why he got huge press coverage in the biggest mainstream outlets.

Well, Jay could convince millions of people to buy his albums everytime, so what is you saying they’re trash worth? Nas couldn’t convince his fanbase despite leaking his whole garbage R&B attempt.

You guys turned this into Jay and Nas because you needed to point the attention to somebody else, I was just typing up facts about Nas and him being overrated as fuck. I don’t even like him, but I be schoolig his biggest stans of whom most didn’t even buy the album. Guaranteed.

    68. HIPHOPDX, you missed out on one album that charted this week. “KB”, who released his album debut, “Weight and Glory”, a hip hop album, sold 9,700 in the first week. KB is apart of the Reach Records camp (Lecrae, Trip Lee).

    69. To all of my fans,

Thank you for another #1 album. I really appreciate the support. Fuck the haters. One love y’all.

      #LifeIsGood

      1. Breh, why you always listening to these haters instead of pleasing us? You’re more bothered with shutting down your haters than supplying your loving fans.

        I LOVE ya.

      2. Fake. We know you care about us to release another great album. Keep doing you.

        Sincerely,
        Nas’ #1 fan

      3. Damn NAS? u once rap: FAKE THUGZ NO LOVE U GET THE SLUG CB4 GUSTO U LUCK THO I DIDNT KNOW TILL I WAS DRUNK YO!!! FAST FOWARD 2012 AND U DO A SONG WITH THE REAL MC GUSTO OFFICER RICKY!! DAMN I FEEL LIKE COMMON “I USED TO LOVE H.E.R. RIP HIPHOP!!!!!!!!!

    70. For the haters:

“Maybe niggas could see too much of they failures through a nigga who realer
I don’t like you near bruh, but I need you to…
      Stay”

    71. Why is anybody in his right mind stil responding to the one and only anonymous bleeding bitch?
Whoever dats stil replying to the 30 yr old anonymous bleeding bitch or rex that constantly spews ignorance on a Nas post is just as dumb as him. Why dnt y’all just let him continue to reply to his own post like d lunatic he is instead of fueling his stupidity.

      1. You ever thought about getting off my dick, bitch? Don’t get your hopes up, faggot, I’ll proudly continue to shit on you disgusting ass Nas stans and the human L you lonely ass 150,000 champion.

      2. Also, I love Nas and serve as his personal urinal, I will clap anybody between him and me, Kelis is away, so my cum-guzzling ass got finally next.

      1. WROOOOOOONG!!! NAS DOESN’T HAVE A BIG RADIO SINGLE AND HAD LITTLE PROMO. SO 149K 1ST WEEK IS GOOD FOR NAS, FAR FROM A FLOP.

      2. Nicki sold alotta copies the first week, and struggled 2 obtain gold status the following weeks after. Her album is what Rosenberg called it….bullshit.

      3. ITS NOT NICKI FAULT NAS CANT MAKE A HIT. NAS NEED TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND DONT SAY NAS AINT HAVE ANY PROMO NAS FLOPPED

      4. @YESSIR You wanna know why Nicki sold more than Nas? She’s a pop artist, like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. She’s not hip-hop. Hip-hop artists don’t sell a lot of albums unless they’re Jay Z, Kanye West, and Eminem. Nas didn’t flopped. Why? Little promo, no radio singles, and expectations. We expected Nas to sell around 120k and he did 150k. Meanwhile Nicki flopped because she was expected to do big numbers her first week and did less than expected.

      5. you cant be serious sayin some shit like that! so you think nicki’s pop album is better then life is good? what the hell you smoking!! all that money nicki spent on features on every song and all that radio play and promotions she paid for. hahah u think the hip hop dj’s played her shit cuz they liked it? my homie is a dj for hot 97.5 the record companies pay to get there music on the radio.

      6. Nas whored himself through the whole pop indsutry, got No I.D., got features from Swizz Beatz, who created a horrible sellout attempt for him, Mary J. Blige, was bigged up by every Hip Hop outlet, got sucked off on every forum and still couldn’t sell shit. Now, you got his insecure stans acting like they weren’t expecting more, I said a few months ago that Nas would sell 150k AT MAX and got deemed as a hater, just because deluded people couldn’t see the difference between internet buzz and real hype.

The story of Nas’ career, little dumb fuck failed to sellout his whole life. He would’ve been better off by staying in G. Rap’s lane before he embarrassed himself in the round of big guys like that.

Watch these lames coming up with decade old numbers. 🙂

      7. Not to say that they leaked the whole album, hoping they could convince people to buy that horrible R&B trash, nigga was riding Kelis’ coattails, but even his most deluded stans saw through that bullshit. The left groupies of him are the ones still buying that horrible garbage.

      8. Yessir, I have NEVER seen one good comment from you EVER. You don’t know what the fuck you are talking about, man, you really dont. Nas could give a fuck about sales, where has Nas been the past few years? Not in the spotlight, so he’s not gonna sell crazy. 150k first week without a hit single and not being on the radar for awhile is goddamn good to me. Especially when it’s all real hip hop. Nicki Minaj tried to go pop as fuck and she still flopped! Now THAT is embarassing!

      1. Don’t get it confused, the only one bleeding here is you, cocksucker. How does it feel to be in a collective for the first time of your life, you mentally challenged piece of shit? Did your Special Ed teachers put you on Nas? Is listening to Nas and defending him like a family member some part of your therapy? Well, take it at this, you’re standing for something the first time in your life. Even if it’s for someone that would prolly be disgusted if he’d ever read your pitiful comments.

    72. Niggas in here be stupid, how the fuck does Nas keep winnin and Jay taking Ls. last time I checked Jay had a hot wife and gone platinum on every album, got stacks and probally the biggest name in the game. Stop hating and dickriding nas and realize Hov owns him.

      1. c’mon son jay dont owe nas. LMAO both are in the top 10 if not the top 5 of all time. what the fuck does beyonce have to do with Jay or Nas’s rappin skills. hahah and yeah Jay has more money then nas what does that have to do with rappin skills?

      2. All I see is Nas’ cum squeezing in between these comments.

Jay has more money and more defined rapping skills. Nas’ flow is pure trash and he couldn’t come up with a half decent double-entendre to save his life, Jay’s song structure is superior, he rips the beat to shreds in countless different styles while Nas sounds the same on every song. He owns half of Nas’ entire discography with one freestyle and got better written tracks in The Dynasty Intro, Where I’m From and Pray.

U can tell Jay-Z stans….first thing they do is pocket watch. “Jay got more money than Nas. Jay sold more records than Nas” FOH wit that shit!

        Critically Acclaimed LPs:

        Nas: 10
        Illmatic
        It Was Written
        Stillmatic
        Lost Tapes
        God’s Son
        Street’s Disciple
        Hip Hop Is Dead
        Untitled
        Distant Relatives (w/ Jr. Gong)
        Life Is Good

        Jay: 6
        Reasonable Doubt
        Hard Knock Life
        Blueprint 1
        Black Album
        American Gangster
        Watch The Throne

I could give a fuck less about sales. The quality of albums is what makes me BUY, not download off datpiff.com, their albums.

Both MCs are nice, but Nas connects more to me than Jay….IMO

      4. @ J.J Have you ever heard of trademark sounds/flow. Nas’ flow is refreshing. Yes it haven’t changed or switched but his rhyme execution, his rhyme scheme and his pen game is unparalleled. Jay-Z’s ability to change his flow is amazing and his pen game is also unparalleled but he doesn’t connect to me the same as Nas. Both of them are in my top seven MC’s of all time, but the last anon is right. Nas has 10 critically albums and Jay has 7. Why do people pin Jay-Z and Nas against each other like they are still beefing? What are you guys their A&R’s? I have eight Nas albums Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, God’s Son, Street’s Disciple, Hip Hop is Dead, Untitled and Life is Good. Also I have six Jay-Z albums RD, In My Lifetime Vol 1, Hard Knock Life Vol 2, The Black Album, American Gangster and BP3. Why can’t y’all shut the fuck up with these asinine comparisons and enjoy these living east coast legends. Peace.

      5. Someone said Nas has a trash flow?? What the FUCK are you smoking? He’s known to have an ill ass flow, much much better than Jay Z’s. Nas has always had a smooth ass delivery. you’re stupid as shit.

    73. AYE REX

      YO FRCUKNUGGET

      U SAD

      U NEED HELP

U GOT SOCIAL MANNERISMS LIKE THAT THEATER SHOOTER

      GO GET HELP PRONTO

    74. Albums just don’t sell like they used to and the reason is piracy is so easy to do now. The only people that sell like crazy are popular artist aka pop artist.(Beyonce,Adele,J.Bieber,Katy Perry). People like this sell alot because they have young fan bases who get their parents to go out and purchase or they do their self on itunes.

      1. Well, J. Cole sold 218,000k first week, so what is your point?

Stop excusing the weak support of Nas’ stans, because his fanbase is much bigger than 150k.

      1. One hot album every 10 year average. Lost Tapes don’t count.

u keep forgetting God’s Son, and Lost Tapes does count.

        just kill the bullshit…

      2. God’s Son had great tracks (Get Down, The Cross, Made U Look, Last Real Nigga Alive, Book Of Rhmyes, Dance) problem is, four tracks were average (Mastermind, Heaven, Revolutionary Warfare, Warrior Song) and the rest was some of the most corny garbage I’ve ever heard (Zone Out, Hey Nas, Thugz Mansion) that doesn’t make for a well even ALBUM.

See the 2Pac feature, Nas gets a pass, I have nothing against him at at all, it’s just the hypocrisy surrounding his every moves that pisses me off as fan of HipHop. Other rappers get sonned for the same shit, but Nas is above critique, as it seems.
        That’s jut someting I can’t stand.

The Lost Tapes is his second best effort to me, probably even better than Illmatic in some parts.

Don’t remember Jay fuckin with No ID until Kanye told him 2. And the last time I checked, No ID is an exec at Def Jam, which is Nas’ label…..

fuck outta here, pocket watchin ass niggas

    76. yep just like i predicted. the album is a critically acclaimed success, so the haters can’t say shit about it.
the only other thing they can hate on is album sales.(no.1 bitches!!)
by the way, if you check out metacritic, in the 2000 era nas has released better-rated albums than jay-z.just stating truths. jay may have sold more, but we know where the quality is. Untitled,HHID, even Streets Disciple-all critically acclaimed by both hip hop and mainstream publications. go check it out anonymous!!respect jay, but don’t come on this site and try to rewrite history!!

      1. Get some sense. Street’s Disciple? Pure garbage, about 5 worthwile tracks, one of the worst double albums ever. HHID? Mediocre as fuck. Untitled? Gimmick driven, unfocused, confused, uneven piece of trash.

      2. You’re thinking of Rick Ross’ entire discography, because Nas isn’t even that close to what you say.

    77. Nas 1st Rapper 2go #1 solo albums in 3decades

      Lost Tapes – Universal Acclaim
Life Is Good – Modern Day Classic

No other Mcee has a better Discography

    79. Up yo catalogue dog mine is worth too much…Nas [Success]

And still my talent is yet to be challenged… Nas [Usual Suspects]

Pardon the rest of my n***z but i’m the best who ever did it..Nas [Ido it 4Hiphop]

      1. “I never asked to be top of rap’s elite”

        Hypocritical asshole.

By your logic, Wayne says he’s the greatet rapper alive, so I guess he is?

    80. couple of points:

      1) where are K.R.I.T. and Spitta?
      2) Flo Rida and Wacka Flocka flopped.
      3) who the fuck is Matisyahu?
      4) why do people buy Chris Brown music?

    81. they wanna , let em hate
      want can i do
      but keep gettin money, funny,
i was just like you …
      (hate me now, nas!!!)

    82. ayo rex and anonymous, look at all the facts people are posting. nas is critic’s wet dream!!! dude new album is fire!!!

      1. Nas really IS a critic’s wet dream, because dismissing him and exposing his fake ass intentions is child’s play for an expierencced writer.

    83. I have’nt heard Life Is good, just some singles/leaks, I didn’t like them. I like IWW, and Illmatic has some dope tracks on it. mostly play it cause of the excellent production. I think Reasonable Doubt shits on Illmatic. Jay’s second album is dope too, and Blueprint and especially the Black Album (a big fan of the dirty beats on it) Death of Autotune is dope as fuck and WTT has some nice tracks. As for Nas, only album I fuck with besides his first two is Distant Relatives but only beacuse of Damian Marley’s mic precence and his brother’s beats. Nas has like two good verses on the album and gets outshined by Jr. Gong on every track except As We Enter. It was hilarious when Nas was bitching about niggas being bitter on Leaders (i think it was leaders).

      Just my opinion but Jay-Z>Nas.

    84. Nas fucked up the haters this time! 150k first week with no radio song! No. 1 album with critical acclaim.

Nas the GOAT. And for those crying about Jay-Z, his blueprint 3 was bullshit compared to Life is Good.

      Locomotive>All of blueprint 3

      1. Who’s crying about jay z ? Jay outsold nas by far he moved 1 mill on hes album not under 150k. However Life is good is a good album and i’m glad Nas is selling, he’s really underrated if you ask me.

      2. If BP3 was trash, why did Nas go at No I.D.? Blueprint was just that, a good ass, beautifully produced mainstream album (something Nas failed to do, see I Am, Nastradamus and Hip Hop Is Dead) that got Jay covering all bases and just having fun, freestyling and flowing over differnet beats like a god, because he doesn’t care about this rap shit anymore, he already impressed the nerds, the critics, the mainstream audience, the Grammy’s, the fucking Australians and everybody else. He’s an icon he passed the level where he needed to impress people a long ass time ago (The Blueprint) Nas feels that he needs to prove something, nothing wrong with that, just two different lanes. Jay’s focused on flow, cadence, breath control, wordplay and great music and Nas is putting all his effort into writing dope lyrics.

      3. It was NEVER intended to impress any of you fucks who read lyrics on RapGenius instead of actually LISTENING to music. The reality is, Jay doesn’t give 2 shits about you nerds, he put out enough albums to satisfy you (Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime Vol. 1, The Blueprint, The Black Album, American Gangster) he’s on to bigger and better things.

    85. Even in the light of Nas’ releasing a good ass album, his stans can’t stop thinking and writing down novels about Jay. Sad.

    86. Don’t understand all the back and forth bout Jay-z and Nas. I am a Nas fan don’t have any idea what Jay-z’snumbers are could care less. I do know a lot of his music is not good for us like the rest of this rap trash, on the other hand Nas can make a variety of music. I know you are going to say but he contradicts himself. My point is I don’t know whatJ does because I don’t follow him, so if you people hate Nas so much why do you know so much bout him HMMM!

      1. I was a huge fan of Nas, bought every album to Hip Hop Is Dead ’til I started to see through his fake ass bullshit and the ugly manipulation he relys on. He always TALKS about what others should be doing, but NEVER does something positive. He’ll present himself as anti-materialistic, humble guy only to brag about criminals and posessions on Nasty. Jay visited Africa several times, is donating a shitload of money, inspires people to do better, he’s the living American Dream, don’t you think kids in the ghetto want to hear a real story of one of them beating the incredible odds they are up against? Do you think they always want to hear negative music about how poor, worthless and mistreated they are by the greater half of society? Damn, wake up. You didn’t LISTEN to Watch The Throne, huh? Jay’s making EMPOWERING music.

      2. As I said don’t listen to Jay-z so no I have not heard Watch the Throne. Check you facts Nas has been to Africa and had a scholarship fund set-up for under privilege kids in America as well damn he just never puts himself out like jay-z does because he doesn’t have that type of ego. When is th non-sense going to stop?

    87. Breaking 100,000 in the first week is feat in today’s hip-hop climate. Mad happy for Nas. It’s good to see authentic New York hip-hop on top. And for those of you arguing over Nas and Jay stop. They both are incredible artists. But Jay def has more commercial appeal therefore kills Nas in sales.

      1. Agreed to the fullest. Didn’t you dumb fucks see Jay in Nas’ arms at his release party, talking and laughing? LMAO.

    88. CAMEL WARRIORS OUT IN FULL FORCE. DAMN. cannot let these nas fans enjoy the man’s achievement without bringing jay into the equation. as someone who enjoys both their music, just wanted to tell all y’all how stupid you all sound especially since these two dudes don’t give a fuck about this bickering. just last week both were celebrating nas’ achievement. both legends, both will come up in a top 5 doa convo, both rule different lanes and both happy with that. now camel warriors, let the nas stans enjoy this moment. DAMN!!!

    89. Gynecologist urgently need for the anonymous bitchy Rex b4 he bleeds o death. Stope writing novels cos ur fav got shitted on and go get medical treatment. #fucking clown

    92. I’m struggling to understand how Alchemist’s dope new album didn’t even crack the top 200. Any one who doesn’t appreciate this breed of music is not a true hip-hop fan.

    93. JAY WAS @ NAS’ B-DAY PARTY

JAY WAS @ NAS’ ALBUM RELEASE PARTY

      THEY COOL

WHAT DA FCUK IS YO PROBLEM?

      U DON’T EVEN KNO THEM N!GGAS

    94. “see Jay in Nas’ arms at his release party, talking and laughing?”

Jay just wanted Nas to know Drake was dating Kelis now.

    95. “I’m struggling to understand how Alchemist’s dope new album didn’t even crack the top 200”

When a CD isn’t sold in major retail stores then there’s an excellent chance it won’t debut in the top 200.

      1. Alchemist’s “Russian Roulette” sold 929 copies first week, 17% of which were physical. It needed 2,596 for #200 on this week’s Billboard 200 🙂

If anyone’s curious, Public Enemy’s new one sold 984 copies, all digital.

    96. WHOA ILL GIVE IT TO YA NAS… I DIDNT THINK ANYONE STILL LISTENED TO YOU LOL I KNO I DNT CUZ HIS SINGLES LIKE THE DON N DAUGHTERS ARE MORE LIKE A LULLABYE TO MAKE ME GO NIGHT NIGHT

    97. the album was really nice! much better than i thought it would be. and i thought it wouldnt sell more than 120k. well done Nas.

    98. First off this is Nas 6th number 1 album. I don’t understand why some of you internet guys hate Nas and claim that he doesn’t sell. All of his albums have plaques while 9 out of 10 rappers don’t break 300k. Illmatic dropped 18 years ago and he’s still selling and still making dope music. All hail the king.

    99. word. i didn’t know little white girls listen to pray, no hook or ignorant shit. fuck outte here whit them dumb ass excuses.
