Hip Hop Album Sales: A Tribe Called Quest, Rihanna & Kevin Gates

In this week’s album sales, Gwen Stefani garners her first No. 1 album on Billboard’s Top 200 chart with This is What the Truth Feels Like. The project sold 83,797 album equivalent units and was streamed 3.8 million times. In Hip Hop sales, A Tribe Called Quest reappears on the charts in the wake of Phife Dawg’s death Tuesday (March 22). Rihanna lands at #3 in ANTI‘s ninth week on the chart. Kevin Gates, Bryson Tiller, The Weeknd and G-Eazy all land in the Top 15.

A Tribe Called Quest Keeps Phife Dawg’s Memory Alive

As many mourned the death of Phife Dawg, two A Tribe Called Quest albums appear on this week’s Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The Anthology, the 1999 compilation of greatest hits, appears at #109 on the chart with 5,939 album equivalent units and 2,488,656 streams. 1991’s Low End Theory sits at #121 with 5,506 units sold and 2,321,529 streams. The project’s single “Check the Rhime,” which features the signature exchange “You on point, Phife?” “All the time, Tip” between Phife Dawg and Q-Tip, lands the last spot in the genre’s digital singles sales chart.

Rihanna’s “ANTI” Continues Strong Sales

Rihanna’s ANTI lands at #3 in its ninth week on the chart. “Work” with Drake remains at the top spot of the genre’s digital single sales and holds the crown on the Hot 100 singles chart. ANTI sold 52,471 album equivalent units and was streamed more than 35 million times, the most of any project.

Kevin Gates’ “ISLAH” Falls Out Of Top 10

Kevin Gates’ ISLAH lands at #11 in its eighth week on the chart. The project sold 26,734 album equivalent units and was streamed 16.9 million times. The single “2 Phones” is #4 on the genre’s digital singles sales.
