GoldLink Implies He Threw His Phone When He Saw YBN Cordae’s Grammy Nomination

GoldLink apparently wasn’t impressed with the 2020 Grammy Award nominations for Best Rap Album.

During a tour stop in Hamburg, Germany on Wednesday (November 27), he implied he threw his phone when he heard YBN Cordae’s name on the list of nominees.

“I was on the phone or whatever,” he stated. “It was like Best Rap Album. It was Meek Mill, I was like…uh. Then there was like 21 Savage.”

He stared into the air before returning to the rant.

“Then there was Tyler, The Creator, and I was like ‘Ah,'” he continued. “And then was Revenge of the Dreamers III, and I was like…uh. And then I saw this one nigga, and I threw my phone.”

Prior to the Hamburg show, GoldLink penned a lengthy post blasting the Grammy Awards.

“Honestly, its fuck Grammys til the day I die, he wrote in part. “I am no longer participating in that wild ass slave ass political ass cheating ass game any longer. The lack of relevance you have just solidified today is unbelievable.”

Over the past week, GoldLink has been experiencing a healthy dose of backlash for the controversial comments he made about the late Mac Miller.

In an Instagram post, he accused Miller of copying his music for his 2016 album The Divine Feminine. Consequently, Anderson .Paak chided GoldLink, calling his post “disrespectful, narcissistic, jealous grossly unnecessary post.”

GoldLink addressed his remarks during the same Hamburg concert and referred to Miller as “best friend.”

The D.C. rapper has been touring the U.S. and Europe to support his second album Diaspora since August.

        1. His bitchass upset he can’t win shit. Holy fuck. I don’t agree with meek mill, and some of revenge of the dreamers, but his bitchass gotta chill tf out. The Grammy’s can descriminate with rappers who are independent, but his ass went on tour with Tyler. He literally opened. Tyler used to be independent, but now he’s mainstream. His music quality is the same, but he has more fans. Don’t try to say that no one knows who you are when you went on tour with one of the biggest rappers in the game who’s been in this shit since he was 18. Maybe Goldlink should consider that you can’t be put up for an album nomination when you have a few good songs, they all have to make a memorable album. And with Goldlink, it’s just not the same as YBN or 21. I also am not mainstream. I went to Smino’s concert when he did the hoopti tour. I love Saba from the Bucket List to his current shit. I saw Noname at Lalapalooza, and I’ve bumped her shit ever since. I listen to Bakar, Aaron May, Sam Henshaw, Micheal Christmas, Tobi Lou, and many more. I know my way around rap from the current shit, to when rap first started. From lyricism, to slur style. You can’t be upset because you aren’t good enough yet, get good and then talk shit about people like Mac

    1. Finally somebody speaks on that corny ass dyke looking rapper YBN Cordae… how tf he get nominated for a grammy when he been out ONLY a year? Over Rapsody? who’s been putting in work for the last 10 years? Ever since he came out i been saying he an industry plant… u got people like Royce, Cole & Dre backing this kid up saying he the next Eminem lmao i laughed. this industry is so lame now

      1. your whole argument contradicts itself. you cant say shes put in work for 10 years and cordae is only been out one, when the grammys is a YEAR to YEAR thing.

    2. YBN Cordae has one of the better albums of the year. I was surprised that anyone with 3 letters in front of their rap name could produce quality music, but he did. I’m sure some of you haven’t listened or confused him with one of the YFN or other acronym rappers. He putt out a great album and it made me want to hear more. Congrats to the young rhyme spitter on a great debut project.
