Those giant Travis Scott heads popping up around the country are starting to make more sense.
The golden icon comes from the cover of Scott’s impending Astroworld album, which shows some kind of bizarre run-down theme park.
The image was shot by famed photographer David LaChapelle, who has previously worked with plenty of musicians, including Kanye West. West hit Twitter to share his approval.
The album comes out Friday (August 3). Scroll down for more details.

Travis Scott revealed the release date for his long-awaited Astroworld album is Friday (August 3).
Scott sent out a tweet on Monday morning (July 30) that featured a trailer for the project and the caption, “ASTROWORLD 8/3/18.”
In the roughly two-and-a-half-minute clip, Scott flies down a set of stairs as pieces of asteroids fall down around him.
Meanwhile, a wolf keeps watch as Scott rolls through an abandoned city in an empty shopping cart. It ends with Scott maniacally laughing and a recording of a man saying, “God bless you all. See you in Astroworld.”
Less than 20 minutes later, Scott tweeted in all caps, “FUCKING READY TO LOOSE MY SHIT IN A COUPLE DAYS. LEGIT BLOWING ANY AND EVERY SPEAKER I CAN FIND!!!!!!!! KIDS LETS FUCKING EAT.”
Scott’s announcement comes three days after a giant Travis Scott head appeared on top of Amoeba Music in Hollywood, propelling rumors the project was imminent.
Astroworld serves as the follow-up to Scott’s Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, which was released in 2016. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

A giant Travis Scott head appeared on top of Amoeba Music in Hollywood on Friday (July 27), sparking rumors that the highly anticipated Astroworld was inching closer to reality.
An Amoeba Hollywood employee told HipHopDX, “The guys that put it up said the album will be coming out later in the year. We just don’t know anything. Label person called us, they’e calling it an awareness campaign. There’s no information online or anything. It’s just a fun promo kind of thing.”
Astroworld was included on DX’s 10 Most Anticipated Rap Albums list earlier this week. Scott has been building anticipation for the project since late 2016.
Fans are hoping a cryptic Instagram post from super producer Mike Dean means Astroworld is in the mixing stage. On Thursday (July 26), he shared a photo of recording equipment with the caption, “#MIXMODE.”
As the rumors started to circulate online, Dean retweeted a post from a Twitter user who was attentively waiting for the mixing and mastering of Astroworld to be finished.
Astroworld will serve as the follow-up to 2016’s Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. The project debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release.
Travis Kardashian using the family marketing company. Nobody wants to see that mug blown up
Bet you dollars to donuts that was Kris’s idea.
Someone sell me on this dude.
Have not intentionally listened to his music…wouldnt be able to pick his voice outofa audio line-up….and that was before this whole Kardashian chapter. I’m an old head. Proud of it. But, am I missing the boat with Travis Scott though? Good music is good music….is he worthy of entry onto my pod? I can determine my own likes and dislikes of course, just want some intelligent constructive convo on the guy….
I don’t really get it either (and I have suffered through his first album).
When “birds in the trap sing McKnight” came out son was playing it while he played FIFA… Finally listened after hearing good grooves..hes pretty good. album had good surprises I think his beats and signature ad libs make his sound -which I’d say is his own version of trap…def unique.
His first album “Rodeo” is really great in my opinion. One of the best trap albums.
Either you work fit him or ur on drugs.
Is Travis Scott leading the pack of the new wave Texas Hip Hop in this era ?
Hell naw people don’t listen to his music in Texas especially Houston they don’t fuck with him like that
This album better be a muthaphukkin classic masterpiece with all this hype flowin around!
Travis is dope check out sky fall, mamacita, sweet sweet, co-ordinate etc…something tells me hes done though (knocking up a kardashian)
This album best be fire or imma take that big Xss head and smash it to pieces
You work for Astro, admit it.
Hit the nail on the head. Here comes super hero pr team guy to the rescue!
I thought beatking made a album called astroworld in Houston already
True. I’m in Houston and not a single person here listens to him cuz the music sounds like a animal bein electrocuted
Another paid for puffs piece on a wack mc
And another trash comment just shut up and stop hating and wasting your time you could actually do something productive like chasing your dreams instead of hating on people who are succeeding honestly pathetic sort it out
when you know it will be another piece of unlistenable bullshit
And another hater jeez people like you are pathetic ?
For those that dont know, and I’m sure you don’t, Astroworld was a Six Flags theme park that shut down October 30, 2005. So the album title is supposed to be a throwback nod to Houston. Travis dont get a whole lot of respect in the city cause he think he’s too big to fuk with any Houston based rappers out here. It is what it is tho.
Nobody in Houston considers Travis Scott a Houston rapper yet he wants to use its rep swag and culture when it’s convienent for him. He is just another industry kid with a 3 year shelf life. Nothing he has done will be remembered 5 years from now and will never be mentioned with the real htown artists.
Dudes been around 5-6 years already….
If you want to hear a good down south album it’s Silkk The Shockers new album #ITWILLALLMAKESENSELATER Houston don’t even claim Travis Scott
I’m not gonna even hate tho dude production is epic
CLASSIC
travis scott is f*cking trash….album is garbage
MEDIOCRE. All these guys are just HYPE. The fame not the TALENT keeps them relevant. RIP HIP HOP. It will NEVER EVER be the same. We had a good run.
this is easily Travis Scott’s best album. there are no wasted moments. the songs are very well structured, the production has a ton of depth, and every feature feels organic. it sounds like he perfected the wave he started a couple years ago. definitely worth the wait, 5/5.
