2022 MTV Video Music Awards: See The Full Winners List

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards got underway at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday night (August 28).

Jack Harlow kicked off the evening’s festivities with a theatrical performance of “First Class” with Lil Nas X, Chloe Bailey and Saucy Santana just some of the notable names sitting in the makeshift plane. Once Harlow hit the stage, he was joined by Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, who finished up the chart-topping single (which samples her 2006 single “Glamorous”).

From there, Harlow’s co-host LL COOL J took the stage and introduced the first presenters, Offset and DJ Khaled, who couldn’t stop shouting about his latest album God Did (naturally). The two rap titans handed the award out for Best Collaboration, which went to Lil Nas X and Harlow for “Industry Baby.”

Nicki Minaj soon stole the show with a career-spanning performance ahead of accepting this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. From “Anaconda” to her latest Billboard Hot 100 hit “Super Freaky Girl,” the self-proclaimed Black Barbie delivered a performance that undoubtedly thrilled her Barbz.

During Nicki’s acceptance speech, she thanked those who inspired her “flow,” including Lil Wayne, Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill Hill, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh, as well several artists who’ve supported her along the way — from Kanye West, Beyoncé and Eminem to Drake, Rihanna and Britney Spears.

Eminem and a joint-smoking Snoop Dogg later took the stage for a metaverse performance of “From The D 2 the LBC” before Cheech and Chong introduced the Red Hot Chili Peppers who were the night’s Global Icon Award honorees. HipHopDX is updating the winners in real time. 1. Nobody cares music is so Fing wack. What I really hate is like 6 or 7 channels are showing this even channels that are not even part of the MTV like Logo and TVland lame.

      1. If you don’t care…why you post an email address…create a username…and post a message saying you don’t care?…seems like you care..a Lil bit maybe…I say thus respectfully of course…sidenote..everything you typed was true tho..?…

      2. You’re the sucker for still having cable / watching live TV. People who pay for streaming for music or entertainment are suckers too. Get all that stuff for free with ease. Film Plus is a great APK. Movies and shows.

    2. Hippo wins again. Great….Does she even fit down the the aisle? How the hell does she even get in the building, do they build the arena around her?

    3. Lizzo was wearing a shower curtain, a carpet, an a moo moo. Style?!? My ass. This bitch only came to the award show for the free food. Stop feeding her dammit. We don’t need her getting any bigger. How are we ever going to transport her back to the ocean if you keep doing this?

    4. The only reason Lizzo showed up was because she misheard and thought she was getting a Moonpie instead of a MoonMan Award from MTV.

    5. if ‘best visual effects’ is going to fking Harlow over that insane Heart pt.5 video K.dot why even bother having this clown show

    6. can i just say something please. now i think there are one or two people here who keep on running down lizzo because of her weight. why do you say these things i mean is it gluttony that is the problem and you feel she should be called out for it. i have defended lizzo before and i got called a little bitch ass. just shut the fuck up about lizzo if that is what you want to say.

      1. The issue isn’t that Lizzo is fat. The issue is that she constantly talks about it, constantly brings up what random people on the internet say about her obesity, and pushes a large scale “body positivity”, aka a “be happy about obesity” campaign, all while Americans are dying in record numbers due to obesity which leads to heart disease, diabetes, and much more. That’s the issue. If obesity should be accepted under body positivity, then children smoking cigarettes should be accepted as “my body my choice!”.

    7. Horrible music across the board, wow. All those winners suck. It’s all the worst pop music. Sad that these award shows are all trash nowadays.

    8. A huge congratulations goes out to the undisputed that’s right I said it QUEEN of hip hop, love her or hate her.
