Slaughterhouse – welcome to: Our House

Being signed to Shady Records is a gift and a curse. In becoming affiliated with possibly the most popular emcee in the history of Hip Hop, Slaughterhouse has increased its visibility tenfold. But, as artists like Obie Trice, Stat Quo, Bobby Creekwater, and even D12 to a lesser extent know, things aren’t always rosy at the house that Shady built. Seemingly closing itself off from outside artists, meddling from Jimmy Iovine, and heavy-handed involvement from Slim himself, it’s a story fans have seen play out many times (if the artist’s album even dropped, that is). But Slaughterhouse is a different animal, it seems. Unlike the aforementioned artists, Royce Da 5’9, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I have each had critically, if not commercially, successful careers. Each has gone through label woes, and none of them are in need of creative nurturing. In other words, Slaughterhouse is in a prime position to take advantage of the things Shady Records has to offer on welcome to: OUR HOUSE and not succumb to any of its pitfalls.

After an eerie intro, the Eminem-Slaughter connection pops off on “Our House,” a no-frills cut (except a moody, full chorus courtesy of Skylar Grey) that puts on full display Slaughterhouse’s bread and butter—otherworldly lyricism. From the start, Royce tells fans why they’re here: “I just want to be the illest emcee / The same time be as real as can be / Mayhem, sickness, murder, horror / These are the kind of words that describe my aura / G Rap, Ras Kass, Kurupt, Redman / I am cut from that cloth, rhyme about me? You a dead man / …I’m trying to be the sickest nigga dead or alive / And if I happen to fall short, it’s been one hell of a ride.” “Coffin” and “Throw That” are skippable, with the former featuring a tired Busta Rhymes failing to sound genuinely riled up and the latter comprised of forgettable sex talk. The project picks up steam again with “Hammer Dance,” clever from its title on down to every bar. “Throw It Away” comes out of left field, and it’s a pleasant surprise. The Mr. Porter beat is a straight banger that was tailor-made for Swizz Beatz’ absurdly entertaining brand of chant-choruses. Even someone who’s been charting Porter’s quiet rise to one of Hip Hop’s more sought-after producers will be impressed by this one. Skyler Grey’s shtick gets a little old on “Rescue Me,” (i.e., “I Need a Doctor” 2.0), and the rest of the album plays out pretty much as expected: some heartfelt cuts (“Goodbye”), some ballin’ on wax (“Park it Sideways”), and a lot more dense lyricism.

After 80 minutes and 38 seconds are up, what have listeners learned about Slaughterhouse? That they’re probably the strongest-rhyming collective in Hip Hop today, and likely belong in that “all-time” conversation—as skilled emcees. But everyone already knew that. With welcome to: OUR HOUSE, Slaughterhouse has somehow managed to improve upon its already-absurd skill set. The delivery is clearer, the bars flow tighter—perhaps being challenged by Eminem in the studio daily has that effect on emcees that hate to be outshined. But unfortunately, listeners will be hard-pressed to find evolution otherwise. Anyone who’s heard “Microphone” or any number of other SH cuts—not to mention its members’ solo catalogues—know the damage Royce, Budden, Crooked, and Joell can do on a mic. Unfortunately, OUR HOUSE feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) dope posse cuts. The album lacks direction, and its aesthetic (both lyrical imagery and musical) seems a little overly influenced by Shady. Ultimately, there are countless bars worth hitting rewind for, but Slaughterhouse is capable of so much more. Songs like “Move On” and “Rain Drops” from previous projects are proof. When Slaughterhouse commits themselves to being artists—not just lyrical acrobats—then the Hip Hop game will truly feel the group’s impact.

    1. Good, album, not great. That Asylum track off the Deluxe edition is dope tho. Wish Em would have rapped on that he would have killed it.

    2. Ridiculous album period. Album of the year material, beats on point lyrics on point. I damn near shed a near listening to this. Salute Slaughterhouse atleast there still some MCs who still give a damn bout the culture.

    3. In my mind this album is a travesty!!! Straight terrible!!! Their first album was way better than this trash!!!

    4. i thought slim told them to “just do what they did on the last album”???? not conform to his bullshit obscure pop rappy beat/hook style! “on the house” was tenfolds better than this piece of shit. and thats coming from a slaughter fan! i forgave them for “My Life” and actually kinda like that track now but honestly this just isn’t them. i’m not angry, i’m disappointed… in slim.

      1. why am I being block . if you check what I said you would see that i said nothing wrong and i am not a spam . I am a real person going online. I am not selling anything or promoting anything. I have been using this email account for a long time. I have been coming on your website for a while and i have never had a problem . now i can’t make a comment

    12. IS THIS A FUCKING JOKE, THIS ALBUM IS SUSPECT AS HELLL, SKYZOO’S THEO VS. JJ, NEW MIXTAPE IS BETTER THAN THIS COASTER. SO WHAT HHDX IS SAYING IS THAT THIS ALBUM IS BETTER THAN NAS’S. THIS ALBUM IS AWFUL ONE OF THE MOST DISSAPOINTING OF THE YEAR, THE PRODUCTION IS RIDICULOUSLY WACK & ALL EMINEM VERSE ARE MARGINAL (NOT QUITE AWFUL) BUT NOTHING SPEACIAL

    13. I’m tired of all the dick riding underground white boys on this site and their elitists ways. How the fuck did this garbage get a 4.5 and Nas got a 4? This is in no way, shape or form better then Nas album. RICK ROSS ALBUM WAS BETTER THEN THIS GARBAGE and you gave it a freaking 4 too. This album is a 3-3.5 AT BEST, but the better artists get lower ratings because they’re more popular right? You elitist, hipster, white boy, underground dickriding, no substance liking, mother fuckers! FUCK UNDERGROUND NERD PUNCHLINE RAP.

      1. I agree nas should have got 4.5 BUT SH should have got 4.. when you say rick ross’s piece of shit is better than this album.. then no one is gonna take your rant seriously gtfo.. this aint punchline rap, did u even listen to the album a few times? FUCK PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DONT LISTEN AND ARE CLOSE MINDED

    14. lets be real.. if we compare this to other mainstream albums that have been released via a major label.. this is a fucking 5.0 no question, lyrically superior to everything, if not musically similar.. now if we just look at it in isolation, the beats are not the gutter shit we would want, and the hooks are too long sure.. BUT THIS IS RAP MUSIC people.. and the rapping is absurdly good..

    15. This record is trash, I expected more out of Slaughterhouse. I have come to the realization that these dudes are whack. None of them could hit as a solo artist and now they continue to shit the bed as a collective. Ortiz is straight garbage his lyrics and flow are horrible, the same can be said for Royce. Royce seems as if he is trying so hard to impress Eminem. Not even a cosign from Em can help these dudes, but then again Eminem has cosigned many whack artists in the past (ex. D12, Obie Trice, ect.)

    16. I haven’t heard the album, just some songs so far, but it kinda bugs me that the reviewer acknowledges 3 or 4 bad cuts and also points out the lack of a cohesive album vs a glorified posse cut album and still gives it 4.5? Something seems wrong.

      1. better than i thought with hearing goodbye throw that and that cee lo song its pretty good but not better than their first album.

    17. Slaughterhouse is in a position that mostincluding the four members themselvesprobably never thought theyd be: on the cusp of mainstream success. Such potential seemed unlikely three years ago; not for a lack of skill from Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 59, but, rather, for their uncompromising dedication to extreme verbal pursuitsbars so intricate and loaded that their records seemed diametrically opposed to radio accessibility. Their 2009 self-titled debut (eOne) met minimal commercial success, but their mic aptitude earned them a deal with Shady Records two years later. Now, under the guidance of Eminem, Slaughterhouse look to strike the perfect balance.

Welcome to: OUR HOUSE fluctuates between the raw and the colorful, yet the essence of these MCs never wavers. What is an MC? An MC is a soldier who never backs down from any challenge, from any cypher, Crooked I professes on the projects intro. From there, the group begins to toe the line, as Alex Da Kids pulsating synths and a chorus from Skylar Grey pace Our House, on which the four-headed monster and Em kick dazzling bars about their individual come-ups and connections to the culture. Im disgusted as a fan, Joell raps. Fuck swag and your kicks from south Japan; In my house, its rap or die, Crook states matter-of-factly.

The albums production credits further indicates a rise away from the underground, as Hit-Boy, T-Minus, No I.D., Boi-1da and Kane Beatz sustain the sonic set, though not always as fluidly as the Alex Da Kid collab. The T-Minus-produced Frat House is a predictable adolescent indulgence, barely salvaged by Budden and Ortizs witty back-and-forth; the Kane-crafted Park It Sideways echoes the beatmakers work on Lupe Fiascos Show Goes On; and the Hit-Boy-helmed Coffin, is the uninspired relative of 2009s Lyrical Murderers.

The Cee Loassisted single My Life is a representation of the albums broader pursuit and offers a wider sound without sacrificing an ounce of lyricism. Yet the strongest moment arrives on Goodbye, a chilling tale where each member opens up about loss (Buddens unborn twins, Crooked Is uncle, Joells grandmother) over Boi-1das rising drums and light keys. Its cuts like this, Rescue Me and Our Way (Outro) that bring the efforts of the album in concert best, allowing intimate and masterful lyrics to gel naturally with the high-profile production.

Theres rarely a weak bar on welcome to: OUR HOUSE, though the verbal dexterity isnt quite as stunning as it was on their debut. Still, as a crew, the complementary elements continue to work in unison, and theyve created an album that, at its peak, reinforces that big beats and honest, untamed lyrics are not mutually exclusive.

    18. slaughterhouse album is amazing. it has songs for everyone. I love the songs Die,Goodbye,The other Side. everything is amazingpeople need to listen to the music and the lyrics and stop being judgemental. when you go commercial you are not selling out you are tyring to sel your music to the massess and to let people know that you are out there. the streets should not be the only place a rapper needs to be known and successful. the streets don’t pay your bills. going commercial is the only way these hihop artist can see there craft grow and there bank accounts. when you don’t know how the music industry works people talk alot of crap. slaughterhouse you have proven why you have been in this hiphop game with this album. SALUTE.Don’t let no one take your shine.

    19. 4.5? Whoever wrote this review is high on PCP. This album is a straight up pop record. You guys are highly inconsistent on your album reviews.

    20. Opening with a horror movie intro, where chainsaws roar and heads fly, Slaughterhouse’s major-label debut instantly feels like an Eminem album. Of course, it’s on his label Shady, he is the executive producer, and one track later, he’s on the cut “Our House” with his “Love the Way You Lie” co-star Skylar Grey providing the hook, and while its a formula that works for his group D12, Slaughterhouse is comprised of respected veterans, as in Joe Budden, Joel Ortiz, Crooked I, and Royce da 5’9″. This determined crew righteously tore things up on their self-titled debut, an album which fed on a “world won’t listen”-style anger, which here has evolved into a credible strut, with successful folks like Busta Rhymes acting as their equal on the electro-pumping highlight “Coffin.” Swizz Beatz sees the group as the monied dons of the strip club during the top party cut “Throw It Away” as lesbians get “piped” and flying thongs land in champagne glasses. Still in the club, “Throw That” sits in the same booth but seeking “higher mileage” with “I throw this, I throw this dick on you girl” as its brutish hook. Elsewhere, it’s the hilarious “Her pussy hotter than a chili pepper/I tell her laydown, and give it away, give it away now” on the aptly titled “Frat House,” and then there’s “Flip a Bird,” a solid anchor for the surprisingly hedonistic album, hitting the group’s sweet spot with its light hook and complex word play. “My Life” with Cee-Lo Green, and the concealed weapon “Hammer Dance” (“two-steppin with my weapon on”) are right there too, while “Get Up” is an amazing showcase for the crew’s clever use of cadence — check how the words bounce back and forth during the chorus. Still hormones, honeys, home boys, hopes, dreams, horror, Eminem, and the state of hip-hop is a lot to shove into an album, and with both the group and their superstar label boss known for wearing their ambition on their sleeve, there’s an over-eager overflow here that means some details got missed. Crotch-grabbing tracks might crash into a convincing emo-rap number and these proven wordsmiths might have left more room for guests and hooks than they probably should have, but just because their indie debut was a more cohesive showcase doesn’t mean the joy and pain of Welcome to Our House isn’t worth the required sorting.

    21. Before we dig into welcome to: OUR HOUSE, lets take a minute to truly understand what were talking about when we talk about Slaughterhouse. Hip-hops really never seen anything like this particular four-man crew before. Sure, weve seen fleeting, always ill-fated supergroups formed by already established stars (cough The Firm cough), but never anything like Slaughterhouse. With some variation, Royce da 59, Crooked I, Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz were all in shockingly similar places in their careers. For each of them, mainstream success had once seemed around the corner, but that avenue now appeared to be closed off. Hip-hop is a young mans game, youre only given so many chances, and with every day it looked increasingly less likely that Royce, Crooked, Joell or Joes face would be on MTV anytime soon.

But then.a mixtape track lead to the formation of a group, which lead to a self-titled album, which lead to a Shady Records/Interscope deal, which lead to welcome to: OUR HOUSE, the kind of major label funded album that was almost unthinkable for any individual member three years ago. With that in mind the mere fact this album exists has to be considered a success for Slaughterhouse, but hip-hop doesnt give out feel-good points. OUR HOUSE arrives with a hip-hop savior aura around it, and by that measure it falls well short. This album wont change hip-hop, and it certainly wont change an industry loath to invest in lyrical hip-hop, but no one album, no matter how good, could carry the weight of expectations like that. Maybe Im just feeling uncharacteristically optimistic today, but its still ultimately a good thing OUR HOUSE is in the world.

We might as well get the bad news out of the way first. Nothing could be more clich than saying that Slaughterhouse sold out on this album, nothing more predictable than saying Interscopes fingerprints are all over the crime scenebut that doesnt mean its true. The primary reason fans were first sold on Slaughterhouse is that it sounded like they really, truly, didnt give a f**k. They were going to make their music, their way, and a middle finger to the rest of the world. OUR HOUSEs singles, on the other hand, sound like a group that very much gives a f*ck. There are multiple f**ks given. You dont get Swizz Beatz on a track like Throw It Away without an eye on radio spins. You dont get Cee-Lo on the hook of a record like My Life without hoping for a The Voice performance on prime time. You dont have Alex da Kid and Skylar Grey do two tracks, Rescue Me and Our House, without hoping theyll work the same chart magic they worked on Eminens Relapse. Speaking of which, you dont have Em on the hook of a stripper anthem like Throw That without some hit aspirations. Its not so much that these songs are bad, its that they sound like a focus-grouped version of Slaughterhouse, like theyre being squeezed into the same box that not too long ago wanted nothing to do with them.

With that said, come on, its not like welcome to: OUR HOUSE contains a posse cut with Flo-Rida, Tinie Tempah and Katy Perry. (An exec at Universal just wet himself.) At 16 tracks, 20 on the deluxe version, this album manages to work in more than a couple joints featuring some of the vicious rap hardcore fans were hoping for. Coffin is driven by one of Bustas best hooks in a minute and some serious wack emcee casket burying, Flip a Bird appropriately flips a crazy sample into the albums best hustling anthem, and Frat House is as narcotic and wild as the title suggests. Still, OUR HOUSE seems much more interested in lifting listeners up then tearing down the opposition. In fact, Joell Ortiz may just say it best on the put your lighters in the air arena anthem Park It Sideways: I cant say that / radio wont play that. Its a joke, but its funny because its true.

Listen, theres a reason Slaughterhouse put out On the House last week. If you want 12 minute songs, barrages of lyrical gunfire and sh*t you definitely cant say on radio, youve got it. But that album/mixtape/whatever were calling projects like On the House these days was free. OUR HOUSE is Slaughterhouses bid to make some money, move some units and who knows, maybe even land on a Lipton Brisk commercial or two. Can you blame them? If anyone knows just how quickly this game will pass you by if you dont seize every opportunity, its Joe, Joell, Royce and Crooked.

      1. what you did here is make excuses. Clear and concise excuses. The album is sub par and hiphop fans & SLAUGHTERHOUSE FANS know it.

    22. Album is a huge disappointment. Beats are over produced to the point that you can’t listen to them via headphones/buds without turning down the volume. Beats are scattered and full of useless sounds. Album is all over the place. A clear attempt to break into the mainstream which would not suit any emcee individually or as a group. The first album is far superior and the On The House mixtape is what true House Gang fans will be playing. Eminem ruined this album and lied when he said hiphop needs this. A lot of blame rests on the emcees. There is no way they heard the final product and thought this album would satisfy fans and help them in gaining new fans…absolutely no way.

DX giving this a 4.5 is apropos for this site. 4.5…based on what? The review would denotes a grade of 3 maybe 3.5. To me that is generous. Deleting this album and acting as if it didn’t drop. On the House mixtape & the 1st album will stay in rotation.

      HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING

      1. HHDX are fucking WHORE– 95% of the bullshit on this site but the comments is bought and paid for…

yet look how idiotic and error filled the writing and editing is?

LAUGHTERHOUSE are straight ass, will lose Interscope $$$ but HHDX made their cut so why not pimp it?

They– like whining fat fuck Joell Ortiz– can’t look DUMBER so…

    23. umm, 4.5? is this rating an error? maybe its just me, but the last paragraph:

“Unfortunately, OUR HOUSE feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) dope posse cuts. The album lacks direction, and its aesthetic (both lyrical imagery and musical) seems a little overly influenced by Shady. Ultimately, there are countless bars worth hitting rewind for, but Slaughterhouse is capable of so much more.”

..just doesnt seem like the closing paragraph of a 4.5 rating.

    24. SLAUGHTERHOUSE! If you have listened to any hip-hop station in the last 4 years youve probably heard that screamed at the beginning, middle and/or end of a song. The group consists of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz & Royce da 59. Welcome To: Our House is the groups second studio album but the first since being signed to Shady records. I had to listen to this album a few times before I actually started liking it. Maybe its because most of the hot tracks have been singles, out before the album release.

After about the third listen I was able to pick up the flow of the album and appreciate everything. There is a great mix of rhythms throughout the album and I didnt feel like I was listening to something that was too dark, hard rap or pop-y if that makes any sense. Eminem is on a couple of songs, Our House & Asylum, which kind of reminds me of D12. You are quickly taken into Coffin which is a super upbeat track featuring Busta Rhymes and then taken to a easy going track featuring Cee Lo.

My favorite track on the album, Throw It Away, features Swizz Beatz and is super catchy. Behind the hook they got someone saying something, I dont even know. Its just a great track to rock out to. If you are a hip-hop head you should definitely pick this album up. If youve only given it one go through and arent really feeling it, give it another listen. Like I said it took me a few listens to really get into the album and appreciate the roller coaster ride going from track to track.

    25. album is definitely not a 4.5 to me though. Still taking it in, I think a 3.5 is more accurate so far. Cant say I’m not disappointed.

    26. i just heard SLAUGTERHOUSE LP.. they make D12 look like WU TANG!!!!!!!

    27. How did they not mention, “Flip a Bird”? By far the dopest song and production on the album behind “Our House.”

    28. Honestly.. after hearing the snippet I was a bit skeptical of the album, but as I actually listen too it. I am pleased as a fan of Hip Hop. And all I gotta say too the doubters. Name a mainstream album this lyrical from this year.

    29. I think people who are disappointed in this album are being short-sighted. Is this not as good as commercial hip-hop can get?

    30. Rating: 8 / 10

As mentioned previously, Slaughterhouse is obviously aware of the pressure thats on them to deliver a project that makes them worth the wait. Ironically, the weight of the prolonged delay has somewhat enhanced the magnifying glass they were already under. Each one drew attention on their own: Royce Da 59 was known for his lyricism and his rift with Eminem that has since been repaired, Crooked Is most recognizable feat to most was his Hip-Hop Weekly series that went for a year straight, Joe Buddens Mood Muzik series, relationship woes, and more made him a lightning rod for conversation, and Joell Ortizs musical outputs with Novel (along with his Bodega Chronicles mixtape) all but catapulted him onto the radar for astute Hip-Hop heads.

Together, theyve formed something that could be responsible for the resurfacing of the popularity of lyrics in rap again, and teaming with Marshall Mathers has done nothing but make their spotlights shine that much brighter. With the release of their second album and first major LP, Welcome To OUR HOUSE isnt the best album to be released this year, but its one of the more ingenious ones due to the amount of clever chances they take with its presentation.

Lyricism is still at the forefront for the majority of the songs. Crooked I consistently delivers struggle-free bars, even on the radio singles like My Life and Park It Sideways. The other members all have their highlights as well; Royces ludicrous lyrics shine on the Busta Rhymes-assisted (and Hit-Boy produced) Coffin, while Joell Ortizs heart-wrenching verse on Goodbye easily is one of the more memorable verses on the LP (not as a knock to the others; each verse on Goodbye is incredibly emotional, but Joell stands out), and Joe Buddens aggressive verses on Flip A Bird and Die are among the plethora of highlights as well.

Lyrics, song concepts, and production arent truly the hangup here for some that will listen; the issue may be the presentation of the album as a whole. Some songs on the surface have a D-12ish sound to them (Throw That being a prime example), but Slaughterhouse is far superior lyrically, and even in those formulaic tracks, the lyricism carries it (and shatters that thought to shreds if you pay attention). Also, the album doesnt have sections like most LPs out, and the only time some semblance of that happens is towards the end, but even that party section of the LP (with Frat House and Park It Sideways) has the powerful Goodbye wedged in the middle of it.

At times the albums dark, and other times its not, but it all comes together to make a memorable listening experience. Maybe that was their intention, to make sure that whoever heard the LP would remember it. There will be complaints due to their singles that theyve dumbed down, but thats a little inaccurate; to say that Slaughterhouse disguised the lyricism on a couple of tracks would be a more level-headed statement, and this is about as well as you can disguise it without actually dumbing them down. The fact this was accomplished in the first place is a feat in itself, but the bonus just so happens to be that Slaughterhouse and Eminem have created a dope LP.
Like the outro says, regardless of their record sales, they made it this far doing it their way. Only time will tell if that will be enough to garner another release in the future. Until then, give Welcome To: Our House a play with open ears and see what you think. If youre more of a fan of the straight-forward lyrical approach like their first LP, then check their latest mixtape with DJ Drama, On The House.

    31. Oh shit I was wrong!!This shit is so amazing that i wanna suck Ems dick a hundred times!!fuck ymcmb ,birdman and weezy for puttin out wack music and kissin in public!

    32. its a great album, the thing is it sounds like you could have taken slaughterhouse off, made it a solo eminem album, and it would have sounded exactly how we respect a Recovery 2 to sound like

    33. DX STRIKES AGAIN!! I haven’t listened to the album yet but, heard most of it. This might be the worst review yet.

The writer mentions “Coffee” and “Throw That” as skippable tracks. “Throw it Away” was horrendous, “Asylum”, mediocre,”My Life”, corny. That’s 5 subpar to trash songs right there.

Then the writer concludes the review with…

“Unfortunately, OUR HOUSE feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) dope posse cuts. The album lacks direction, and its aesthetic (both lyrical imagery and musical) seems a little overly influenced by Shady.”

The review reads more like a 3-3.5 than a 4.5. An album with three or four automatic skips is not worthy of a 4.5. Slava, how did you come up with this? Explain yourself. The fix is in!

    34. Lets not get it twisted, Slaughterhouse is the squad. Flipmode may have said it but Slaughterhouse are it.

A deadly foursome, consisting of Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Joe Budden and of course Royce Da 59, are all names not to be scoffed at as far as lyrical prowess is concerned. Successful entities within their own right, now a collective they are signed to Eminems Shady Records imprint, and the time has come for the underground to go overground.

Gaining much notoriety over the years due to their complimentary individuality, gritty rhyme styles and descriptive street tales, the way in which each member of Slaughterhouse exercises their lyrical clout is unlike any other emcee in todays game. Theyre like the hip-hop Avengers.

Royce is the mastermind, the man with an unlimited amount of clever bars that one minute make you laugh Hi Rihanna and the next take your neck off. Joe Budden is the troubled soul whose love of women and drugs, combined with his personal dramas, makes him one of the best subject matter rhymers period.

Crooked I is the gangster. Once a Death Row Records affiliate, his rapid fire flow, which hears him connect words that shouldnt really technically work together but somehow do, is a problem to those on the receiving end. Then you have Joell Ortiz. As good a punchline expert as the likes of Lloyd Banks and Fabolous, his ability to comically challenge anyone on record leaves the opposition looking like the laughing stock.

With an E1 self-titled release under their belts, which saw critical acclaim rear its head towards the group, as well as an EP, it was the recent mixtape On The House which drummed up a bit of excitement in preparation for their major label debut. Full of throwaway cuts, straight hip-hop and no hooks, the fans who have been down with the group since day one were satisfied Truth Or Truth Pt.1 is possibly one of the years finest records.

Now to the album. Standing at 20, yes 20, tracks in length [which hasnt really been done since the days of No Limit when Master P was saying, Uhh] theres a issue already. In order to get away with such a high number of records on one project you need to be either making a concept album, an album that is more about beats than lyrics, an album where every single track is flawless, or a double album. None of the above apply here.

Produced by AraabMuzik, lead single Hammerdance actually proves to be one of the albums highlights. While Royce doesnt spit a verse, his lack of ego allows a chemistry between four emcees to reach new heights and create what some would deem one of the hardest hip-hop singles of the past five years. Lyrics, the catchy yet simplistic hook, and a chilling slice of production all combine to create a street anthem for those not up for two stepping to the latest Drake record.

Another couple of joints to be on the look out for include the sample-tastic drug dealer anthem Flip A Bird, where Crooked I stands head and shoulders above his Slaughterhouse brethren [On Twitter they murder my mentions/ cos they heard I was served by a circle of henchmen/ laying in a dirty ditch that bullshit is further than fiction] and the Busta Rhymes featured Coffin. However, the latter starts off as an insanely lyrical affair over a drum heavy instrumental until the hook comes in, and Bustas vocals are overwhelmed by an electro injection that is just too much to bear. How can a track switch up styles that quickly?

According to Slaughterhouse, Eminem took on a lot of the mixing, mastering, and directorial duties himself as well as featuring on a few tracks. His unfavorable cartoon character vocal switch up [heard on his Encore and Relapse albums] over wacky beats, which really dont suit what Slaughterhouse are about, taints much of the album. Stay away from the infantile Throw That, and also the introductory Our House.

Flicking through the album its unfair to trash it. As emcees theres absolutely no faulting the crews wordplay and writing skills. Each player goes hard when theyre asked to step up to the plate. The problem it seems are the poor beat choices. Its easy to see what happened, and its also understandable.

Its hard to jump from an independent grind where youre making the kind of music you like for your core fan base, to a more commercial platform where youre under pressure to perform to a wider audience. Its no longer 1995 where the likes of the Wu-Tang could put out a joint like Triumph and people would flock to buy it. Music, especially hip-hop, is diluted now and Slaughterhouse have fallen victims to the changing of the musical guard.

All in all, Welcome To Our House is an average at best offering that could have been chopped down a track or five, and perhaps replaced a few records with some of the mixtape features. Slaughterhouse are still one of the best cliques in music period, they just need coaching in picking beats or not to be so influenced by the powers that be.

    35. It’s dope for what it is….a mainstream album, if your expecting a fucking underground Preemo and Alchemist beat filled album get the fuck out of here, its an Interscope record. as a mainstream project, its dope, minus the Swizz beats jawn.

      1. LOL, I guess you don’t “really” listen to hip hop but follow the radio friendly pop that’s on the radio.

And yes, this whole album is trash. The lyrics are great but the beats are horrible, horrible pop-wash hip-pop trash.

    36. Two years in the making, Slaughterhouse finally release their sophomore effort on Shady Aftermath.

Although Joe Budden, Royce Da 59, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I all struggled independently for years, in 2008 all of that changed when they collaborated for a song on Buddens Halfway House album. Thereafter they took the title of said song and made a group out of it. Slaughterhouse even released an independent album. Yet, it wasn’t until they signed to Shady Aftermath that big things started to happen for them.

Almost two years have passed since inking their deal with Eminem, and finally the supergroup has released their first full-length recording. welcome to: Our House is well named, and begins with the assurance that this manor is filled with outstanding emcees only. Every track thereafter is a testament to this fact, (and not just those with Marshall Mathers). That said, Our House, Throw That, and Asylum are all exceptional.

Straightjacket flows are coupled with body bag deliveries. Zippers collapse on themselves when Hammer Dance and Frat House play. Its exciting to see hungry rappers feed off of each other. It’s refreshing to hear them touch on more serious subject matter. The track Goodbye is a farewell to those that matter most. Crooked Is tale therein about his uncle is unforgettable, and his emotional exchange should be applauded.

Joe Buddens verse on Rescue Me is evidence his poetic delivery is aging well: Dont know my story, my struggle, the demons that I combat; or how Im staring at them waiting for eye contact. Beyond that I got a soul mate thats nave, so the thought of me is prison to her Then theres Ortiz, the Brooklyn-knight battles every beat effortlessly. On Flip A Bird he cooks with words to reveal how he was able to get out of the hood.

Last but not least is Royce. As of late Nickle has been being going in on records, and this album is no different. On Coffin he opens up with, I said I aint fuckin with you, you can suck a short for Richard. Clever lines abound, and with limited bars on each round its incredible to see the knock outs these men are capable of. This album contains a rappers rapper times four, lyricists every one with no fear to go raw. For those complaining that the brash bravado of the 90s no longer exists, purchase welcome to: Our House and be pleased that youre wrong.

      1. Dont waste your time or Money on this trash.

You can listen to the whole thing on You Tube – it’s WEAK at best. fucking AWFUL at worst.

FREE YA MINDS – fuck majors paying for 4.5 star reviews on 3 star albums

    37. The album has no direction what does that even mean useless critic man it’s music you listen to it you dont follow it on a map you jackass. Buy this album its as real as it gets

    38. Buy this album its real hip hop a dying art form, time to get rid of robot voices skinny jeans whack lyrics that barely rhyme and men dressin like women

    39. So Coffin and Throw that are skipple but thorw it away you like? What? And Skylar Grey singing gets tiring to ya but still rate it 4.5/5. I don’t get your review with the rating score. I hve the cd and I love it, throw it away is the worst one on the album, coffin and throw that would’ve been a club if was release as a single, fun records that has better lyrical content better than the hit makers out there. Skylar Grey did a good job and since she isn’t on many artist’s songs to even get tired of her singing. I’ll say this, it some detroit sound, they don’t have tracks made for Southern swag, Eminem did his thang, something I haven’t heard for a long time. I don’t know what the haters problem is, but listen to Flip a bird for that crack fiend fix.

      1. Yeah I totally agree, Throw it away was absolute garbage and I loved Rescue Me. Several skippable tracks so at max I would give this a 4.

      2. Majors pay for Reviews…. where you been bro? I bet you thought EM’s last 2 were 4.5 stars tooo LMFAO

    40. LOL! HHDX LOL!

Yes I will go back to GFID, yawl crazy with this review. MMG made the album SH tried to make.

      1. really? let me guess you think rick ross is the realest nigga out there right? i cant fuckin wait till the REAL HUSTLAS and the REAL RICKY ROSS cap officer william and show idiots like you that mmg is a team of ACTORS hired by WARNER BROS. The only exception i give to those wack mf’s is meek an wale. Have fun with your weak recycled trap beats that loop over and over again, let that shit drill into your skulls and remind yourselves your all caught in a loop.

      2. hahaha whatever gets your pickle up bud , you probably be snitchin like officer ricky anyways, just know that gfid or mmg selfmade will not outsell this album, thats a fact and a promise.

      3. it not hard to beat this crossover attempt tho is it.

Just feel sad for SH… Corny EM fucked up their shit

    41. Slaughterhouse still is one of the hardest groups out, it is what it is. It’s on a major label who wants to appeal to a more commercial and radio friendly audience you can hear its way more structured in that way. Its not like the first album or the mixtape and or other tapes and EP they put out, but don’t get it twisted it is still better then the 90% of hip-hop thats out there right now anyway. I still think there are definitely bangers on the album, “Flip a Bird” might be my favorite though. I’m still rockin’ with them, there all still beasts in the both.

    42. Haven’t stopped listening to the album since it came out. These are MC’s. You can’t listen their songs the way you would listen main stream pop songs. Wayne and Ross grab your attention with a beat and a hook cause their lyrics are seriously lacking. Slaughterhouse grabs with their lyrics and their lyrics outshine everything else. You cant skip a Slaughterhouse track just cause the beat didnt grab your attention in the first five seconds because you will miss out some sick ass lyrics.

      1. No shit? How fucking obvious is it this whole site is 1000% PAYOLA…

Maybe if the scumbag owners kicked it down to the writers/editors there wouldn’t be so many errors and retarded excuses for ‘grammar’ and ‘punctuation.’

        Album rates a ZERO.POINT.ZERO btw…

What colleges offered Joell a scholarship again?

Or was that just more of that obese dipshit’s LIES LIES LIES???

      2. The whole site is a stretch….

but clearly 4.5 stars for this POP RAP bullshit is clearly sponsored ala Paul Rosenberg

      1. go for it man…its a nice album…but some faggots in here are upset cuz theres no Drake and some are upset these dudes made something others said they cant do…and that is making hits

    43. The Dude who Reviewed this Album is so fucking full of Shit, The Album is fucking Trash, Throw it Away is one of the worse Tracks on the Albums. Seems more like He just didn’t want to Bash the Album cause He either Knows the Guys Personally, Or He’s just too much of a Fan to Admit it. These Niggaz ain’t getting a fucking Dime from Me with this Crap, The first Album Blew this Shit out of the Water.

    44. Incredible, but I think the guys could have been better: as a hip-hop album 5/5 but as a Slaughterhouse album 4/5

    45. HipHopDX clearly made a mistake in giving this album a rating. The review sounds like it’s meant for a 3/3.5 star album, not the 4.5 score it was assigned. FIX IT!

    46. Hip-Hop needed this album
this with life is good and soon to be released cruel summer is bringing back the good music to hip-hop

    47. lol 4,5 stars!!!!!

I know SL has skills but as a group:

      – they have no chemistry like Wu-Tang
      – There beats always suck.
      – they only want to outrap eachother
      – people still see them as new but they have been in the game for 10/12 years
      – this album cant fuck with the classic albuma from the 80 and 90’s
      – only reason this album gets 4,5 stars is that you have wack rappers like: 2chainz, waka flocka, whiz khalifa etc.

This shit is decent and nothing more. And bitches dont say im a hater because i bought there first album!!!!!

      1. nigga u mad?? go smell a tree and hug a cactus bitch find urself something 2 do beside trolling …i know u did that all day…and dont talk about Wu Tang cuz i bet u dont know who Masta Killa is

    48. i like the album but i think they shoudve made it like 15 songs( deleting the skippable songs and maybe add 2-3 songs of the mixtape and this shit wudve have been classic imo but i still like the album 🙂 slaughterhouse nas killer mike top 3 albums of the year ( looking forward for t.i. ludacris, kendrick lamar, lupe fiasco)

    49. This review is full of shit contradicts itself. It basically said exactly all the “haters” have been saying and that’s that the album isn’t cohesive and is just a bunch of clever rhymes that aint really talking about shit. So all because a group delivers nothinginess to you with metaphors and with a nice flow makes it different from the dumbed down shit that YMCB does? If I tell someone to “please leave me alone” vs “let me the fuck” aren’t I saying the same damn thing just one is more direct. Same thing with the whole SH vs YMCB argument. They’re both not talking about shit…one just delivers it to you by being more lyrical. Big Krit…he has a message. K. Dot…Black Hippy…they have a message. SH just talking about chopping people heads off and crazy EM type shit without saying anything and then when you finally get to their so called “emotional” tracks you can’t even take them seriously. Like you really expect someone to feel sorry for you or whatever after you just talked about mindless over the top violence for like 3/4 of the CD? I’m so happy to say I’ve passed on Slaughterhouse’s : “OUT HOUSE” because it’s full of shit.

      1. ok im not gonna read all that…no matter what ur probleme is i think u care about SH so much u wrote all that…LOOOL

    50. Stop this nonsense HHDX. This album is sub par and so was Recovery. Half the album has been out for months and has not caught fire. Why? It’s not because it’s going over anybody’s head, it’s just a weak album period.

    51. Based on the analysis in the review, I’m confused as how you got to the 4 1/2 rating. I love Slaughterhouse, but I still admit the album was a little lackluster. There are some great tracks, but 1/3 is throwaway. I actually liked the mixtape a little better. If you combined both, I think you’d get the rating you’ve given. Otherwise, you have an album whose lyricism elevates it to more of a 3 1/2.

      1. the mixtape is better, i actually pulled the best tracks off both to make my own version of what i thought WTOH should’ve sounded like.

    52. So this album is on the same level as 36 Chambers or any of NWA’s albums? Because you damn near gave it a perfect score. I guess my ears are broke because I don’t think so.

    53. 4,5????????? Shit is worth 3,5 stars!

Albums that shit on welcome to our pophouse:

      – illmatic
      – ready to die
      – reasonably doubt
      – criminal minded
      – the chronic
      etc.

These chumps are 14 years in the game and still can’t make an album lol. Its like they picked 4 rappers from the streets and throwed them into a studio to make an album.

      1. are u stupid? the albums you just mentioned will shit on whatever bullshit you listen to today. why the fuck would yoou compare welcome to our house to them classics? compare it to todays hiphop. idiot.

    54. “When Slaughterhouse commits themselves to being artistsnot just lyrical acrobatsthen the Hip Hop game will truly feel the groups impact…..” …. hmmmmm

    55. great album. the hate on this is ridiculous and just coming from ppl who thought it was gonna be some old school hip hop album. sorry to break it to u but hip hop has evolved if u expect illmatic or ready to die your gonna be disappointed and hate on everything that comes out.

      1. Don’t come with all that hip hop has evolved bullshit! that album is corny as fuck, simple!!

I am a slaughterhouse fan! i just hate this album! ,i hate the way they pretend its an amazing album too.

      2. just stop, i would rather listen to this mainstream stuff than the other stuff that comes out now.

    56. Bit of a shame this got a higher rating than Nas – Life Is Good, even if I think this album is just as dope… Nas deserve at least 4 as well.

    57. SHADY paid DX what little they needed to bump this up. EMINEMS couch money can buy off reviews.

this album sucks. this review sucks. slaughterhouse sucks and so does this website.

      1/5 complete ASS.

desperate attempt at selling out thats going to blow up in their faces and get them dropped from the label. let’s give it 4.5!

    58. The reviewer said the album lacks cohesion and direction and it still gets a 4.5..LMAO!! It’s pretty much what fans with standards complain about these guys…they have no chemistry!! This review made no sense at all. DX is on the Shady budget.

      1. No, its a 4.5 because as the reviewer himself said the album HAS NO PITFALLS!!

The album has no weak songs. Its an all around solid album. The lack of cohesion and direction is the reason that it is not a complete 5.

      2. f, did you read the review? He said two songs are skippable, and that didn’t even include Throw it Away. That’s three right there among others. You’re either on Shady’s payroll have really low standards.

    59. sooo slaughterhouse is supposed to stay indie? no. Everyone is hating. they come out lyrical as fuck just like theyre supposed to do, theres 4 songs i skip

    60. Power Circle
      Ambition
      Triple Beam Dreams
      Maybach Music 4
      16 ain’t enough

Not one song on SH is fucking with those songs. They have heart, lyrics, beats, and replay value. They have SOUL!

    61. dogshit frat rap FLOP how much of a fucking DORK is Joell Ortiz in that in that goddamn LAUGHTERHOUSE t-shirt even homeless bums wouldn’t wear

      retard music for retard people

    62. slaughterhouse album is an introspect of what hip hop needs to be for today’s generation. this is an Excellent album. i give this 5 stars. i love the song the other side, die, goodbye. support true lyricists who love what they do and who want’s to keep hip-hop/rap alive. a lot of rappers can learn a from these guys if they open up there minds. these guys are very humble. salute.

    63. This review is ridiculous, 4 1/2 stars? Seriously? This is a pop album, plain and simple. It has Eminem’s crappy pop music logo stamped all over like every song. How do you start off the review saying that each of these guys has had a successful critical and commercial career? Really? These guys have all been critical and commercial flops they’re entire careers. Not to take anything away from any of them as great emcees, because they are, but this album sucks. They would have been better off forming a group on a different label away from Shady. Eminem turns everything he touches into radio fodder. This review is so far off base that it’s mind boggling.

Not to mention by the sounds of the review it doesn’t even seem like “SLAVA KUPERSTEIN” liked it (read the last paragraph?) that much, and it gets 4 1/2 stars?

      1. Co-sign you bro…..i couldn’t said it better…..they are great emcees & the first albim was dope…..but this Shady shit is all commercial…..just frustrating….

      2. just because they rhyme over a pop beat doesn’t mean anything, the bars are still there. they don’t care about the beat as long as they keep rhyming real does the beat matter? you guys are frustrated, I’m not and i liked the first album and the ep alot.

      3. i definitely agree.. how r u gonna rate the album 4.5 stars and basically say how disappointing it is in the last paragraph..? a 4.5 rating should be only used for albums one inkling short of a masterpiece. i’m a huge slaughterhouse fan but come on…the journalist knows the album is sub-par yet still gives it a rating of a near masterpiece. i hate to say the review is bias but clearly…it is. its not good for hip hop (not that the artists care about the reviews, but for the culture) in general..basically saying oh ok your talented and signed to the world biggest rapper, so u can get away with making just an average album and still be rewarded with 4.5 stars. as a hip hop head, its disappointing to see.

    64. You want hiphop from REAL hiphopgroups then listen to:

      – nwa
      – wu tang
      – tribe called quest
      – public enemy
      – bone thugs
      – outkast

that are groups not SL thats just rhyming on weak beats and saying nothin for the most time.

    65. When are most of you clowns gonna clean your ears? HOW THE FUCK is slaughterhouse not at least decent in your book they are lyrical monsters. Just catching hate because theyre singed to the white guy.. And also gtfo of the 80s and 90s and catch up…your seriously gonna be dickriding these 15-20+ year old albums another 10 years from now? fucking pathetic

    66. When are most of you clowns gonna clean your ears? HOW THE FUCK is slaughterhouse not at least decent in your book they are lyrical monsters. Just catching hate because theyre singed to the white guy.. And also gtfo of the 80s and 90s and catch up…your seriously gonna be dickriding these 15-20+ year old albums another 10 years from now? fucking pathetic.

    67. Four lyrical monsters, great first album but this is poor. I knew this’d happen, that’s the sad thing.

    68. 4 and a half? wow! thats not bias at all!!!

Wont check another review on this after this album gets 4 and a half!

    69. great album. best i heard this year next to ab-soul #controlsystem and the roots “undun” . now why the fuck are you dumb fucks comparing to wu-tang? nwa? wtf? hahahaha shows how u haters are desperate to bash on SH. then again damn thats a comparison that can be taken as a compliment. DO NOT COMPARE TO ANYONE FROM THE 80’S-90’S. Compare to groups out now. delete about 4 tracks and add about 2-3 from the mixtape and you have yourself a classic. 4.5 is about right.

      1. because Interscope pays $$$ for ads and story/song placement?

        THAT’s fucking how.

No matter what Slava ** thinks ** some boss there will bump the rating up to please Massa (Interscope).

    70. WTF Slava? Come on son, I am super critic of anything hip hop and the one cut, that is right one song, that isnt up to par on this album is Coffin, so we agree on that. But hating Rescue me, and skimmin over it just cuz Skyler Grey is on it….smh. Its easily the best song (contentually) on the album and the most radio friendly. This is the best Hip Hop album to hit the shelves in years. If you dont recognize that pop your earbuds in and head back over to your Lil Wayne playlist.

    71. I also read that Slaughterhouse say there is nothing pop about this album!

      Sure guys!! whatever you say.

    72. I’m a hater because I don’t co-sign everthing they do 100%? I’m a big fan of Joe & Royce, but this album is a NO-NO.

      1. I’m a fan of all of them…..I don’t even really comment on websites a great deal

But this album is weak as fuck!

whoever can listen to track 6 or 14, good on you!

    73. unrealistic high expectations will never be met. slaughter did well and did what they were supposed to do. appeal to a different demographic (pop fans)

    74. this is a great album if you were born in the 90`s like me…accept that hiphop evolved & dont alwayz expect any album to sound lyk old skul hip hop..i bet in the 90`s & 80`s when `classic ` albums were released there were some faggots like u hating(slaughterhouse>mmg>ymcmb)

    75. Honestly man, I have had many rants on this site but I like ALL kinds of rap. From MMG to Lupe to SH, to Eminem to Wayne to WuTang, etc.

Maybe because I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s.

    76. SHADY is just as fake and manufactured as young money. big egos checks and politics. they held off posting this review until 2 DAYS after it was released because this review was paid for by SHADY.

eminem is a faggot and slaughterhouse stinks. boy band rappers. rap bands are gay.

      1. Hater thats all you are. If crooked i was in front of you you’d bow before his feet let alone em who you’d probably just pass out.

    77. 600,000 FIRST WEEK RIGHT BITCHES JOELL ORTIZ FLOPPY TIT ARMY RUSHING THE CD RACKS HOWLING CHEESEBURGER CHEESEBURGER JAPANESE DUDES HOTEL ROOM BUKAKKE

LONELY DIPSHITS WHO LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM MORE THAN ONCE WILL NEVER EVER GET LAID

    78. I LOVE this fucking album!!!!! Everybody was spittin’ not a weak track in site on the mixtape or the album. Im so happy these dudes are getting the shine they deserve being all over tv n radio n shit. They deserve a number 1 album…even if its only for a week with low sales i dont care, i just wanna see real spitters at the top of the game

    79. Didn’t like the album first 2 listen trough’s but its actually a really dope album. Or at least better then anything anyone else is putting out.

    80. When are most of you clowns gonna clean your ears? HOW THE FUCK is slaughterhouse not at least decent in your book they are lyrical monsters. Just catching hate because theyre singed to the white guy.. And also gtfo of the 80s and 90s and catch up…your seriously gonna be dickriding these 15-20+ year old albums another 10 years from now? fucking pathetic!

      1. dumbass it aint not only about being lyrical. its also about beats and chemistry, concepts etc. you dumb fuck

    81. What do you bitches complain about poppy. What do you expect? I m the same bitch i dissed Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears in the 90’s and now im making songs with Rihanna and Lady Gaga. I went from hardcore to popcore. And Slaughterhouse went from Slaughterhouse to laughterhouse. Its all about selling out and making a lot of money. Fuck being original and creative. Poprap rules

    82. SLAVA says: OUR HOUSE feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) dope posse cuts. The album lacks direction etc.

So and then you give it 4,5 stars??????

    83. lol fuckers are dissing the 80’s and 90’s rappers but that was real hiphop. Slaughterhouse is trash. whats next a techno rap album?

    84. On a side note, the cover art to this album is pretty applicable; I could easily see this garbage blaring at a Frat House on a Friday night.

You might take my blatant blows as hate, but in all reality, I’m one of the biggest Slaughterhouse fans out there – well, their first two outings at least (Self-Titled and Slaughterhouse EP).

It’s pretty obvious that Shady didn’t give them a lot of flexibility as far as beats were concerned. I figured that the new album would have bone breaking beats from cats like DJ Khalil, Alchemist and Nottz; apparently, I was dead wrong.

You might say that the bars are still there on this album, and you might be true, but this is a bonafide pop record. In actuality, I feel like this was the very thing that the guys from Slaughterhouse were against, but it just proves that money talks for everyone.

I hope to God that Royce keeps his next solo album away from Eminem’s hands; I can’t take another disappointment like this.

    85. On some real shit… Hiphopdx giving this album 4.5 is ridiculous. The article didn’t even match the score. I tried to give Our House a solid chance. Its not a bad album but it will soon be forgotten.

But I gotta say… this 4.5 score Hiphopdx just gave made me remember The Source when they were towards the end of the reign. When Dave Mays and Benzino were giving Made Men 4.5 mics and Lil Kim Naked Truth album got 5 mics.

    86. critics always hate even if an album is perfect.. i bet pple lyk u had stupid shit to say when illmatic, marshall mathers lp, slim shady lp; the chronic, life after death +(any other classic album) stfu u dont know what u really want

    87. Huge Slaughter fan. Was very much anticipating this album to drop. Like all members respectfully. With all that being said this album was a huge disappointment. The beat selection was pitiful at best. Sounded like they got these beats from the Dollar Tree. Hooks sounded forced with an Eminem fingerprint written on every one. The verses are good as far as rhyming goes but they were uncharacteristic like for all 4 of these members. Overall it was a desperate attempt to make a commercially accepted album that failed on the hiphop/slaughterhouse level. The Swizz beatz hooks and features are played out and tiresome. Busta sounded terrible. Skylar was what you would expect from Skylar. Eminem didn’t spit that verse everyone was hoping for. Just an overall disappointment. The “On the house” mixtape was better than the album. Goodbye is the best track on the album in my opinion.

      SLAUGHTEEEEERRRRRRRRR…………FLOP

    88. Hahaha! Fuc outta here wit dis review! Mediocre album, 3/5. HHDX gave Rae and Legendary Weapons far lower ratings than this incohesive shit. HHDX stay hating on the Wu!!!

      1. legendary weapons wasnt that good shaolin vs wutang was great the lex diamon story was horrible. just cause he in wutang doesnt mean he’ll drop a classic everytime

    89. Hows that Yelawolf album doing on the charts?? And once U see the numbers or lack there of, that SlaughterHouse brings in, its a wrap for Shady Records… Eminem is going to have to release a album in December just to cover his loses.

    90. no surprise here-I can’t imagine this could be a solid album-if eminem is involved…plus he is no challenge..now Chino xl-thats a challenge

    91. Over-hyped & overrated, 4.5? Lmao, in no way is this album on par with ‘Control System’, that’s a real 4.5 rating. If this is a 4.5 than ‘Control System’ should be an easy 5. Eminem paying hip-hop sites for good reviews now I see. Album is a 3 or 3.5/5, come on hhdx you guys know better.

The people have spoken…and that’s where I pay attention to the real reviews.

    92. Basically, I agree the conclusion of Slava. But I’m afraid giving 4.5 was a huge mistake.

By giving that rating, you’re saying that its near perfect, but it lacks something to be an all-time classic. Can you declare that on Welcome Our House? I don’t think so.

Its main weakness in my opinion is that it lacks concept and characteristic. I can’t feel the persons behind the songs, which would be an essence for me. This goes especially for Joell and Joey. Plus they did a little bit of this, a little bit of that and so on. Why? Unless you want to please a broader audition (which couldn’t be a case in Slaughterhouse, since they supposed to be a lyrical hardcore hip-hop group), you don’t have to do that!

The Bad Meets Evil album was a fair mix between different demands and the formula should be applied to that album too. I’d say f#ck it, do a single with Bruno Mars but leave the rest of the album what it supposed to be.

Overall, it can’t be more than 3.5/5.

    93. haters will always hate…remember 1 month ago whn life is good was released pple said shit but that was/is a classic… this album deserves @least gold status

    94. why the fuck so many haters? slaughterhouse is brining it down with these tracks. Y’all need to go back to you’re mainstream weezy shit. SLAUGHTERHOUSE DOPE! GOOD ALBUM!

    95. This is the Perfect rating for it. Slaughterhouse has put together a modern masterpiece. You don’t like it? Well they got a mixtape for you… Hopefully the fan reception will improve over time

    96. I am a big fan of Slaughterhouse but this ish is wack!!! They completely sold the F out!! It sounds like a Bruno Mars album!! Wtf??

      1. For you to say it sounds like a Bruno Mars album, that means you listened to a Bruno Mars album before. Now sit your faggot ass down and shut the fuck up.

      2. U know i’m right u fucking sissy.. I would have loved for u to have tried to say the same shit to my face, loved it!!

    97. Really HipHopDx? How much was Shady paying you for this review. Anyone with ears can tell this tape is shit. But I am not surprised, since this site has been hyping it for the last month.

    98. Ok… this album offers much more than I first credited Slaughterhouse for. At first glance, I thought this was trash. However most of this album has begun to grow on me. I will need a few more listens. Good work SH.

    99. been gone for 2hrs and 200+ comments, I just want to add a few more things. I think they should have some credit for not having everbody on their second but first album on shady, only new comers are only on the hook. Also think people are hating on banging beats, I truely believe people who is hating are because they are under Em vision or never liked them and here to be trolls for something they heard on a 30 snip. Even if they don’t sell much but damn it they got their album out that under partly interscope, some truely gifted artists can’t say that after being under them, or even other major labels, I rather them sell low units then been waiting 5+ years and only hearing a few songs now and than like saigon, stat, bishop lamont, Obie, etc. Yeah some did put an album quality mixtapes and did finally put out an album but still. 4/5.

    100. After not being pleased by their singles, I didnt know what to expect from this album. But after some listens, it’s quite possibly the best album of the year so far.(The other being Nas’)The track ‘Goodbye’ is a really great song & has to be up there w/’Move on’ for the best Slaughterhouse song of all-time…4.5 is too high tho becuz it still has some flaws. The overly use of the Skylar Grey/singing hooks get a little bland and boring. Eminems guest verses are also lackluster to say the least.(Think Em has fallen off ever since Recovery)Those songs the album could do w/out. Finally, the production (although it wasnt bad) should’ve had more of a traditional hip-hop feel. These new age producers are good but it would’ve been nice to hear them spit over a NY,Dr Dre or midwest style beat. Where listeners can just feel the essence of pure hip-hop. Either way, this album is a good listen & worth supporting these great lyricists who are trying to atleast keep lyricism alive on a big major label.#8/10

    101. A disappointment….& I knew it would be. It’s funny how this gets 4.5 of 5 though. In what world is the album almost classic? Their mixtape is easily better than what they want you to pay for. Hiphopdx….damn, you guys are falling off hard. 3/5.

      1. yes sir! Im a purist and was hoping for some hard beats for dudes to rock..instead they give us semi-popish, corny beats that commercial “MC’s” wouldn’t even rap over….Shit, if they were going in this direction. I would ave loved to see them spit over some Mannie Fresh beats…This album is a BIG disappointment not because it lacks lyrics but because they OVER HYPED this album….Shit, EM should have let 50 Executive produce this…Dude always has a good ear for beats….from hungry up and coming producers. …

    102. nah bruhh.. not erry song is good.. some of them were jus like damm..howd they put that ish on they album.. flip a bird is a 5.. hammerdance 5.. my life 4.. throw it away 3.5… goodbye 3.5.. the album as a whole, 3.5-4.5

    103. HHDX laughed in the face of its readers with this review. They really think hip-hop fans are stupid and will stan anything eminem related. Slaughterhouse said they were going to bring real lyricism back. Hahahah! They went the Nicki Minaj route. Alienated the hip-hop audience for the pop money. F Outta here!!!

    104. To me each member of Slaughterhouse is better individually then collectively in the group. Much of the music I hear from them have good lyrics but are not great songs. I think the difference between slaughterhouse and a group like Wu-Tang is that all the members of Wu complement each other. Rza is able to mesh each clan members rap style to his production and it usually results in good music. I cant say the same for slaughterhouse. Not consistent enough

      1. It’s true. They are better individually. I don’t even want discuss these guys in the same breath as the Wu, bu Joell’s first solo, Mood Muzik 2 & 4, Death is Certain are all far better than the group stuff they’re doing.

    105. SLAVA says: OUR HOUSE feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) dope posse cuts. The album lacks direction etc.

Sounds to me like Slava was scared to give the album a lower rating.

    106. when the album finished i actually got something out of it lyrics were on point production was great good celebratory record 8.5/10

    107. Couple wack songs and a bit over the top mainstream sound but overall its a good album once you get used to their new sound. 3 and a half to 4 stars.

    108. the real truth is that they are on a major label nowp!!!! how come yall cant get that, the reason hiphop is the way it is now is because the so called hiphop fan does not buy albums so this album reaches out to all audiences in order to get some type of profit and sales from it… truth is the pop fans buy more albums than so called hiphop fans nowadays cause if the hiphop fans copped the albums and supported their music instead of bashing their favorite artist when something aint sounding right then hiphop would not be for the kids and trash the way it is now… imean damn Slaughterhouse probley even knew yall so called hiphop fans wouldnt like it thats why they gave you the mixtape… smh

    109. I had such high expectations for this album but I was really dissapointed there wasn’t a single DJ Premier production on this album. I really wanted to like this album cuz all the emcees are dope and all the lyrics were on point but the production just absolutely killed this album. I was excited when I heard songs like “The Illest” & even the El-P remix of “Hammer Dance” but what actually made the album was just very dissapointing and underwhelming especially considering all the talent that comprises the group.

    110. Huge Slaughterhouse fan, but no way does this album get over a 3.5. Beats were NOT on point, I love EM as an artist but his essence can be felt waaay to much on this. I honestly think On the House was better than this.

    111. its probley a bunch of up top niggas hating, they never support their own kind.. thats why the south is killin shit right now and im a big fan of real music.. south niggas hold each other down while yall hate on each other music constantly… support what you believe in and stop complaining.

    112. You guys are lucky they didn’t give this album a 5! Sorry haters, but this album is a classic, period. I actually think it’s a modern day ‘D12 World’, and Slaughterhouse is the best rap group ever aside from D12. You guys hate on Eminem, but you forgot he gave us D12, and they broke up so Eminem could put together Slaughterhouse. It’s all family at Shady Records. If you don’t like this album you’re a Lil Wayne fan, period. So go ahead and buy your ‘I Was Not A Human Being’ album. Fucking idiots don’t even know real hip hop when it’s right in front of their face. Skylar Grey is this decade’s ‘Dido’, the 2 songs featured with her are 2 of the best this year. ‘Best Rap Album’ winner at the grammys, watch haters!

    113. LMAO! hiphop dx are on the payroll, hahahahaha really, that rating, really? im a slaughterhouse fan and want to see them win but cmon now, lets not lie, this album is average at best…hiphopdx, keep away from rating albums, pleease!

    114. I’m a fan of Slaughterhouse, but I thought this album was a floating turd in a toilet. Huge disappointment.

    115. lol at people looking for a dj premire track on a MAJOR LABEL ALBUM… which means its for the MASSES…. not just the 90s heads… not saying i would not wanna hear a dj premire slaughterhouse joint its just that we are not in the 90s no more and that dont cut it in hiphop of today… you either sell records or they drop you and i doubt that these youngstas know who dj premire is anyway..

    116. I’m guessing Slava is either a huge Eminem fan, or somebody threatened his life. 4 1/2 stars? lol Try 2.5, and that’s being generous. There’s just not much to say. Maybe 3 or 4 good songs. They’re supposed to super lyrical masters, but half the time you couldn’t tell who was who. Forget the hype, and after about a week, forget this album.

    117. im a huge slaughterhouse fan and i bought two copies of the album 4.5 is waaaaay to high, highest is a 4 personally I’d give it a 3.75

    118. Y’all saying this album is better then Life Is Good and God Forgives,I Don’t??? YEA RIGHT….this album is as bad as it gets…garbage garbage garbage

      1. This album is much better then Ross bullshit and stay on the same place with Life Is Good.
You ain’t got ears?? Just listen this album again. This album is crazy as fuck! Lyics, production…all on top.

      2. The production on this album was not only shit, but it didn’t fit Slaughterhouse AT ALL. Ross’ album, production wise, was much better than this & I don’t even like that fucker.

    119. Now im a big Slaughterhouse fan and i think this is one best albums of the year (up there with Life is Good, R.A.P music, Control system in my opinion) but really 4.5 is too high, this album is a solid 4.

    120. The beats and hooks on this album are mediocre at best for the most part. Their first album was much better in terms of beats, and both albums are fairly even in the rhyming department. I’ll give this a 3/5 and that’s on a good day.

    121. Horrible album but its pretty obvious shady payed for this rating.

Shady is the worst label/group out, not too far behind SODMG.

    122. even the user raing is doctored! 3.7 for user rating, with all the negative comments i see below? lol…and this is from a slaughterhouse fan..id buy this album just to support, to support them and support my coffee mug…

    123. I still don’t know why they used Royce’s house for the cd cover… lol this album sucks sooooooooooo bad

      1. TWO MONTHS is a better guess… Interscope knows the truth even if these fucking bums might be too delusional to listen…

Jimmy I ** OWNS ** Marshall for this fucking disaster…

Let’s see who signs whining fat fuck Joell Ortiz now…

        Hint: rhymes with NOONE!!!

      2. haha, thats awesome… I didn’t even think of it like that, I was thinking since these artists are ticking time bombs, one of these dudes will try to be the alpha male in the group, then BOOM – NO MORE GROUP….

I think they know this album sucks, imo. You got Royce on twitter going “please support me” what a faggot. I think D12 was on to something when they said he was a flammer…

LMFAO at the “Bidding Wars” they mentioned in past interviews.

    124. unreal all the negativity on here if you dont like it get the fuck off this page, go and write about lil wayne or something gay!! slaugherhouse album is 1 of the best ive heard since BME 5/5

    125. Why the fuck did this album merit a 4.5 rating when half of it was used to criticise the coherency of it and over involvement from Eminem? And then comparing it with cuts from their previous album which was better but received a worse rating? 4.5 is a joke of a rating. Didn’t expect to say this but it was Eminem’s involvement which stifled the creativity and direction the memebers of Slaughterhouse should have taken in this album. They sound like Eminem’s pawns in this, not like a hiphop group

    126. I heard the album, its dope…but i dont know if i’d give it more than 4 stars. Its way better than that MMG albums

    127. Keep grabbing your greasy dick, Joell, maybe some Japanese dude will give you a hand next time LAUGHTERHOUSE plays to 45 nerds somewhere…

Absolutely one of the worst albums– any genre– ever made…

Tho’ if the Em stans post up videos of their sister (or moms!) doing the HAMMER DANCE I might reconsider.

    128. NO EXAGGERATION ONE OF THE WORST RAP SONGS EVER RECORDED and these guys probably caught CHILLS in the studio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

album shoulda been titled walk of shame….

crooked i been rapping for 30 years and the first album he has in stores is one of the WORST group albums of all time…

LOL @ all these beats again though

sounds like shit the label would play rihanna when theyre building her album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20 tracks and you dont know shit about these niggas other than they like to rhyme a lot of words using wack spaz flows on wack beats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      someone stop eminem…

hes shelled up in the studio trying not to OD endlessly mixing wack slaugterhouse records…

this rap shit will snatch your soul and fry you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL @ d12s MY BAND destroying any record on this wack ass album

at least you can laugh at that piece of shit…

“life is grand… like a thousand” – whole LP of weak shit like this over wack beats

royce sounds like sober faggot eminem now… hes finished…. he will become 45 year old eminems hype man full time… bet on that…

joe buddens embarrasses himself on every track… niggas falling over himself the whole album tryin to kick spaz flows like hes sober em!!!!!!!!!!!

crooked i is hollow man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how many times can a man rhyme constipation with occupation!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?! thats his style… wack one dimensional raps where he stacks syllables… crooked i raps like a white nerd keystyler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! robotic nerd shit…

joell ortiz is TRASH.. cartoon voice bullshit rhymes no charisma… fat softie raps… hopefully he uses that SHADY money to big pun himself out the game… eat up you fucking BUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. damn homie why u so mad? u could have said the album was below par in a few sentences, this aint an essay competition homie, ur too excitable..

      1. You know what they are the worst rap group as of right now.. Look at these fags on twiiter especially Royce Da 5’9″ saying “please support me” lol the guy has to beg to be relevant… hahaha.. Isn’t royces manager HIV positive?

    129. Look, it’s the same with every underground rap/group in the game today. As soon as they hit mainstream everyone turns on them. I ain’t sayin’ this shit is best, but gotta admit hip-hop needed this, it was hurtin’.

    130. well,On the House is much better as expected but hey can’t blame em. Bad Meets Evil EP was some real hip hop shit and only went gold. Can’t stay underground forever

    131. holy shit, way off base review. I’ve been a huge SH fan since the first album but this was just bad. I guess the stans just won’t let Eminem fail.

    132. Hip Hop DX gives it 4.5, the people gave it an average of 3.5. The album is weak… no amount of pressure from Interscope to get favorable reviews will change that.

    133. Yes the is NOT great n i think they should hv got a 4/5 at most. But to write these guys off js bcause of first week sales is just straight up dumb, they killin it lyrically. N as Joell Ortiz said, The LP n the free mixtape go hand in hand, so listen to em both to get the bigger picture. #SLAUGHTER!

    134. well all the advertising and unneeded stories written about these guys…i’m not surprised they gave this a high rating…dudes gotta be paying yall

    135. You guys probably think this shit is wack nd all that shit but if u see where thier comming from ull understand they did an album like this to prove that they can write actually write records i bet the next album they drop will be filled with nothing but hard core tracks they just getting started niggass settle down id rather listen to this then to any ymcm record or any of wiz khalifa’s new shit nd if u still think they have a wack ass album id like to see ur favorite rapper compete against SH !

    136. Hip Hop is dying because of the fans, not the artists. If people can’t appreciate great albums like this, I don’t feel good about hip hop’s future…

4.5/5 is a great rating for this album. Better than 95% of the shit being released these days.

      This isn’t a mid-90s 4.5, its a 2012 4.5. Put shit in perspective.

      1. Agree ^^ This new generation clearly didn’t grow up on same hip-hop we did. This Album was a breath of fresh air. Don’t get me wrong I am a fan of some of the new Hip-Hop as well, but i can defiantly appreciate an album like this, where these new guys can’t. When we have our children, we’ll be able to educate them the correct way lol Great album by Slaughterhouse, with Eminem’s hand in this whole project. If you haven’t looked at credits, he mixed/co-produced this whole project. Take a listen front to back and THEN make your statement. Real Hip-Hop

      2. yes i agree aswell, tom many 18 year old who listen to lil ***** and gay shit, im very sure they dont care what these kids think and niether do i, i braught the album its great

    137. LOL @ how soft rap has gotten

scared to tell these bums their album FUCKING SUCKS

      what a disgrace

lets bend it a million ways and find something nice to say.

they tried making hits and failed. they signed to a major and flopped. they failed all the way around.

remember when eminem coudlnt make a good album with all those brand new pac vocals?

what makes u think he can make something good with these bums?

d12 is laughing. they look like the beatles right now.

      slaugtherhouse = 98 degrees

one and done boy band that will need reality tv to survive

    138. i really wanted to like this, but i feel like they’ve changed their personas majorly since their indie debut and departed from the characters they were in their solo careers, which i liked a lot better, lyrically and production-wise, even. it seemed there was little to talk about on this album other than partying, “we’re lyrical”, and “we made it we’re about to be famous fuck the haters.” they took on this frat boy persona (?) which was surprising…then you’ve got tracks that were too thuggish for my liking (flip a bird?), now they seem to be stressing the fact that they’re certified gangsters, when i know they’re so much more than that. it sucks that that’s who their target audience is now. I miss the shady beats that were boom-bap and military sounding, these sound too bassy mainstream and distract me from following the rhymes…and why was shady on the opening track but budden wasn’t? come on. that being said, i’ve followed these guys for years (as a group and individually) and they’re all incredibly talented lyricists who deserve the level of attention they’re finally getting, it’s just disappointing that they had to take this route to achieve it.

    139. Cmon guys this record is still dope. There production is def made to appeal to wider crowd but i would have preffered a grimier feel, Like dirt ALC beats some Just Blaze heat some dark Dre records but they got some heat. The reviewer undercut Rescue Me, and Coffin they all go in on those records. Throw That was a wasted record def a 3.5 starts.

    140. this album was so dope! I love it! i cant stop listining to it! and every track sounds different..neither song sounds the same. You never get bored of it! and guys this is slaughterhouse’s shot at mainstream. and yall should respect them for that!

    141. Along with Nas’ album, one of the best to be released this year. The fact that they gave away a mixtape one week before release of this album, makes these weeks even better.

    142. Look these guys are good and they are one of the best right now. But this is not four and a half. This is more like a 3.5 or four. Wow, they think this is better than Nas they are out there. But congrats on their record.

    143. this review makes no sense.. gives it 4.5 and says there has been no evolution? this album is completely different subject matter wise to the last album.. so many introspectve tracks exactly lke move on.. nonetheless dope album quit hating, what you want lil wayne DED4 do you? in this climate this is the best we gonna get

    144. This is a great Review. Anyone who recently read the “Kiss The Ring” Album review knows what Im talking about. Which was terrible, the reviewer was a narrow minded dude. As a Slaughterhouse Fan, I liked it a lot, but the reviewer is right, they’re capable of so much more for an Album. Love the reference to “Rain Drops” and ” Move On” because that is what they’re capable of. Love the album though, looking forward to their next one.

    145. This IS actually a good album, fuck the haters. Along with Life Is Good, this album is one of the best this year

    147. This album simply isn’t that well made. And don’t give me that “But they’re mainstream now they have to cater to everybody” crap. Nas and Jay are mainstream but they still have banging beats, a freaking concept, and good chorus on their songs all the while being lyrical. Big Krit’s album was lyrical yet is has a much better crafted album that SH. The freaking intro to “Live from the underground” exudes more emotion that the entire SH album. So don’t give me all these excuses why SH wasn’t SH on this album. If these guys are capable of tracks like “Microphone” and “Move On” then why the hell didn’t they bring their “A” game and create BETTER tracks on their mainstream debut? It’s because Em sat their ass down and told them to pattern their album after Em’s which doesn’t work because the shit that Em raps about nobody is going to believe that from 4 niggas(P. Rican is black dickheads) plain and simple. If I wanna listen to slaughterhouse I’ll take the mixtape…

    148. After all these masterful lyricism that is supposed to be on this “classic” album…what did you learn? What emotions did it invoke? I’m listening..tell me one song on the album besided “Good Bye” that was something that you would seriously vibe to. I can grab a Black Hippy cd and I can get some shit to make me crunk from it, I can get some shit that’s funny, some introspective shit…what do you get from this album? Nothing but corny ass beats and over the top violence. This album feels so synthetic.

    149. this album is absolute fire,i enjoyed 90% of this album, can they do better?yes and im sure they will but anyone who thinks this album isnt at least 4.5 out of 5 is a loony tune, real talk.one of the best albums of the year without a doubt “Tittie in my left hand, drunk as a freshman on his 10th kegstand”!!!!

      1. You aint talking about shit. “Tittie in my left hand, drunk as a freshman on his 10th kegstand”!!! How is this bs any different from the stuff that 2 Chain says? I’ll tell ya. 2 Chain says with less lyricism and waaay better beats to make up for said lack of lyricsim. Both of them aint talking about shit. Give me B. Hippy, J. Cole, and B. Krit any day over SH’s latest effort and 2 Chains.

    150. Although less street then previous offerings this is hip hop in it’s purest form. Most of the people who say this album is shit don’t understand the true essence of hip hop music. I think the production is excellent and they stuck to who they truly are which is lyricist. Best hip hop album since Eminem’s Recovery Album And Jay’z’s Blueprint 3

      1. This album is not the essence of hiphop. This album doesn’t have a message…a concept…what did they say the entire album again? How do their songs reflect your life? How can you identify with this? You can put Pac or Biggie in right not and be a nerd from Rich St. and still be able to “feel” them. Hell listen to Big Krit “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” or “Bye Bye Baby” off of Nas’s album and they’re talking about something. SH aint talking about shit. They just have sick word play. R they capable of more…hell yea. They have done so on their solo efforts…esp Joe Budden. He exudes emotions the best outta all memebers.

    151. The beats are all almost all wack, desperately trying to be radio ready but all failing and being see through and empty bullshit. These guys aren’t even lyrical. gun rhyme punchlines don’t make you lyrical. Having meaningful lyrics makes you lyrical! Public Enemy is lyrical, Sage Francis is lyrical, Ice Cube WAS lyrical. saying “I clap the nine at you like I was missing a pinky” is not lyrical. It makes you a rich ass grown man talking about guns when you should be telling young black/hispanic men to be anti-violent cus all this gun shit will only put them in jail or worse. Grow up Daughterhouse.

      1. I clap the nine like im missing a pinky. Thats a hot line i don’t give a fuck about what you nerds say. I didn’t hear the Album yet. Im still stuck on Nas’ Life is Good but i like Slaughterhouse. Mainly Buttons. But I like Buttons because he spit some real shit. From the reviews it seems like this Album didn’t go that route.

    152. To all the people who hated the album i gotta question.. do you listen to music or do you just skim threw it… all this talk about production, go listen to that ross album if you want a bunch of nothing being said and great production…. cuz obviously just skimmed threw once and check for beats cuz theres NO WAY you caught on to the album first listen…. Second, other than Nas what has your favorite rapper sold on a mainstream level… exactly… case closed

      1. Big kirt did what these dudes don’t without being hyped up by Shady. I listen to lyrics homie and like Brenda said its lyrical but it’s a bunch of nothing. You can’t tell me one damn thing that you learned or got inspired from from this album. It’s pointless. “Good bye” is the ONLY MEANINGFUL SONG! To make matters worse the PRODUCTION IS HORRIBLE. This is how some of the wack rappers make it…good production. I can promise you that Cruel Summer will have the complete package. They’re making better music than everybody out right now on a mainstream level. Jay Z is still making good music, T.I. making good music, Krit, Bun B, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, and Nas making good music. This album is sub par and SH’s dick is so far up ur ass you can’t even tell real from fake.

    153. South wins again… this is exactly why hiphop will never be back like it was, cuz you people who so called invented it dont support your own kind… expecially up top NY NJ niggas. yall stay killin your own kind while the south support each other and buy albums… Good album like this gets shitted on even tho its better than every album out there except life is good all because yall niggas expected some other shit from a major label… reason why some of yall lyricist are not getting deals cause you dont appeal to the masses..

      1. A great majority of the Houston rap scene is waaay better than this shit. Rappers Trae and Z-ro bring way more to the table than this shit. Scarface, UGK, Paul Wall, DJ Screw, Fat Pat, Big Moe, ESG…all these fools have had way better albums that this nothinginess piece of shit. These boys talking about real shit unlike Slaughterhouse. Go youtube “I hate you bitch” by Zro and that’s some shit you can feel or “Speak on it/Ride Tonight”. These songs in particular is better than the whole SH album lol. Damn shame.

      2. If Slaughterhouse was smart they would’ve gotten a southern MC into their click to get that client base. That individual would’be put them on what’s hot ride not and that’s good beats. That “Speak on it/ride Tonight” shit is some shit you can drink and vibe to but the majority of SH fans are white boys and can vibe to that real shit cuz. I listen to everything but I much rather listen to some real shit than a bunch of niggas pulling big words outta of the dictionary to sound cool lol.

      3. i feel you fam, i honestly like the album and i fucks ith every one you mention.. i listen to all kinds of music but im sayin how the south and southern music always seems like they hold each other down as well as the fans even in thier downfalls.. some people crucify their fav rappers for trying to do something different.. its 2012 not 95-99

      4. Yea..I agree. The south got it right. Hold each other down. To me classics are timeless so I don’t care when an album or song came out. If it’s real time don’t matter. So if I’m listening to some Pac… why can’t I compare it to the music of today? Real is real. Sure the way society does thing might change…the beats might change but not the realness. Some thing with art. Good art is timeless and can be related to generations later. Look at Shakespeare or the Mona Lisa.

      5. Its only one NY rapper on Slaughterhouse why you cock riding NY. Why do niggas hate on NY so much. You said it yourself the game will never come back up top. So why yall hate on us. I agree with you about NY not sticking together but the rest of that bull shit you talking is just that bull shit. NY don’t except just anything so niggas don’t support BS. Its obvious you south niggas do.

      6. even tho its only one dude from NY in the group hes still dope but he dont get the credit he deserves cause yall dont support him… Jay and Nas the only NY niggas thats gone sell pretty much and thats because they got their respect way back.. niggas dont even be on busta like that no more and dude was creative, lyrical and videos was art… but all im saying is if its on a major label you cant expect but so much so support it and maybe get some sort of recognition that you use to get.

      7. I’m the other nigga that was bigging up the south and bitch nigga SOUTHSIDE was spitting truth. Joe Budden should be doing waaaay better than wat he’s been doing but ya’ll crap ass don’t support your own. Something with Joell Ortiz because if ya’ll did there wouldn’t be a Slaughterhouse because Joe/Joell would’ve been doing the music that their comfortable with because they were sellin. So go suck on ur mamie’s dick bitch.

      1. I don’t suck dick’s but clits. You need to get off yo mama’s dick. Maybe then you’ll see that this shit ain’t trill.

    154. Production: Good

One of the biggest complaints about the singles released for OUR House is that the production does not fit the style of Slaughterhouse. However, until now they have never had access to big name producers such as Boi-1da, No I.D., AraabMuzik or StreetRunner. And as we all know all too well, in order to make it big, you have to have some songs that are either radio, MTV/BET and/or club friendly. The Four Headed Monster achieves this with tracks such as My Life, Throw It Away and Hammer Dance. While writing this review I found myself thinking, what exactly is Slaughterhouses sound anyway? With only one independent album, an EP, a mixtape and countless loose tracks, its hard for me to find a common element in the production. Other than the singles, I feel as if the rest of the album has good production. The production is never repetitive and its fluidity is excellent.

Standouts: Hammer Dance, Flip A Bird, Goodbye, Die

      Lyrics: Excellent

I can understand worrying about the content and production being too mainstream, but to question whether the House Gang will continue to deliver lyrically is absurd. If On the House proved anything, its that these cats will be a force to reckon with in the Hip Hop game until they decide to hang the mics up. Now I dont want to single out any MC, because this album is a group effort, but Crooked I continues to awe with his way with words. On the title track, he begins his verse with the lines: In my house, the lights out, no utilities in the facility, feelin my lifes bout, to wipe out, these feelings Im feelin be killin me. I pull a mic out cant strike out, cuz if winnin is really my enemy, I pull a nine out, blow my mind out, is the end of me really serenity? These lines, for me, put the album in a nutshell. They find a way to combine their lyrical prowess with introspective content.

Standouts: Our House ft. Eminem & Skylar Grey, Coffin ft. Busta Rhymes, Die, Place to Be ft. B.o.B

      Content: Great

For years people have been saying Slaughterhouse is a one trick pony. Lyricism, but WTOH proves otherwise. After Goodbye leaked I knew that the first 3 singles were purely for promotion, and I wouldnt be surprised if in the future we find out this album gave them the same problems Lasers gave Lupe. Regardless, the Slaughter still came through with quite a few quality songs. They get personal with Goodbye, talk about their journey to this point on Our Way, and celebrate their new found success with My Life and Place to Be. As a long time fan Im impressed by the growth the group and individual artists have shown in their ability to make music, not just jaw breaking bars. I was also surprised at how well SH and B.o.B sounded together on Place to Be, as they are pretty different as far as their styles of Hip Hop. On another note, singer Skylar Grey is phenomenal on the hooks of Our House and Rescue Me. If Em or Dre havent signed her yet, they should before someone steals her from right under their noses.

Standouts: Our House, Place to Be, Rescue Me, Goodbye, Our Way, The Other Side

      Conclusion: Great

While this is admittedly not what I expected (as im sure most of you will agree) from the best group in Hip Hop, I feel once you give the album a chance and a real listen you see this is really a step forward for them. We heard from day one that Em had his hands all over this album (thus, we should feel lucky we didnt get any Big Weenie, Without Me or My Band esque tracks) and even then we knew that a major label album would need the okay from the suits upstairs. With that in mind, I feel as though Slaughterhouse did about as well as they could with Welcome to: OUR House. They showed not only their versatility as artists, but an ability to step out of the comfort zone which, as Ive said before, is lyricism. Will it be as successful as say a Young Money or G.O.O.D. Music album? Probably not, but Id argue that record sales have an inverse relationship to the actual quality of the music (except in a few rare cases, one of which being the executive producer of this album). Every artist must walk a fine line between pleasing old fans, and acquiring new ones. Others have said On the House was for the hardcore fans, while OUR House was for the newbies and mainstream. Id argue that old fans and Hip Hop Heads alike can enjoy WTOH just as much if theyre willing look at Slaughterhouse as artists, and not just MCs.

      1. You typed all that? Lemme save you some time.

Slaughterhouse – Our House (Album Review)

        Shit sucks.

        – Mr Obvious

    155. Anyone who thinks Em is still in touch with music and is still dope must be a 12 yr old white girl lol people forget the last great album he had was the MMLP…The last good one was the Eminem Show. The bad meets evil EP was cool but that was mostly cuz of Royce

    158. No one cares for the album except someone pussy deprived nerds. Aint no one checkin for Slaughterhouse with their circus music. Slaughterhouse needs raw beats with heavy bass to match their lyrical content and they need a freakin album with a concept instead of a bunch of rapping. I promise this shit wont do over 40k with EM. And all you nerds are going to be butt hurt in disbelief and find some stupid excuse to avoid facing the truth. EM didn’t help SH but helped expose that as artist trying to write songs they fall WAY short.

    159. jimmy is gonna sit these boys down sometime next week and the tears will be flowing…

    160. eminem TALKS ABOUT KILLING HIMSELF and RAPING WOMEN and killing chopping up woman AND KIDS and BEING A PEDOPHILE, EMINEM is trash just like CHUCK NORRIS IS TRASH but the white population refuse’s to let them go trying to make them more than what they are… All he does is goes to the studio makes songs and dissing people from his studio then cries about how people hate him because he is white…He is trash just like his label…And trust meim far from a “hater”

AHHHH, IS THIS LIFE???? IS THIS ALL???
      REPEAT 6 TIMES
      ITS A SLAUGHTERHOUSE!

    162. Wtf?? How can the reviewer say at the end that the album LACKS Direction, that they haven’t evolved, that they lacked lyrical and musical imagery in their rhymes and then it gets a nearly pefect rating from the editors??? This looks suspect, from seeing other reviews I find it hard to believe this is a 4.5/5 album

      1. On top of that, look at how many generic comments there are saying “5/5”, now that just makes it look even more suspicious

    163. I was a Slaughterhouse fan from their past work and kinda thought people on DX was bias against them for some reason.

This shit is pretty disappointing, I was hoping they would just do what they best at and go in on that hard shit even though it’s pretty one dimensional. Or at the least was hoping for something like Move On if they were gonna diverge.

      Eh oh well

    164. It’s funny how mad people are about this album and overall how angrily everyone is hating on SH…I bought this album because I heard the leak and I like it a lot. If you don’t get off hip hop DX and go listen to what you want, you guys are so mad then why don’t you become a rapper and get signed. Calm down

      1. We should become a rapper because we don’t like the product that Slaughterhouse put out? That’s dumb. By that logic you should put out an album since u don’t like YMCB or whoever the fuck u don’t like. It’s called have an opinion butt boy.

      2. That’s you putting words in my mouth. I was pointing out that you guys are wasting a lot of energy and that it’s not productive to sit around on the internet being mad at people because while you’re talking shit SH are sitting in thier brand new apartments counting massive wads of money-
wether YOU like it or not. I suggesting that if YOU calm down, everyone will be happier.

      3. I would hope that the members of slaughterhouse wouldn’t be chilln in a new apartment but rather a new house, townhouse, or condo. That right there tells me that you’re a youngster. Second of all I’m not mad just stating my opinion just like you have a right to do. Point blank. I just don’t agree that SH put out a good product and you do. So what? I’m not losing any sleep over it because I didn’t buy their bullshit and you did.(you probably didn’t on second thought) And considering I don’t know you I can give two fucks and a nut what you spend your money on.

    165. Awesome album, bought two copies. Respect the album review Slava. They can do even better than this. Hopefully we wont have to wait too long.

    166. This album was made pointless because SH has no concept. I listened to this shit and all I can get from it is “Good bye”. The rest of the shit they could’ve released on a mixtape.

      1. Did you hear “the other side”, “Our way” or “Get up”?
There is definitely a coherent theme to this album but it might not become clear until you give it 2 or 3 good listens, they don’t spoon-feed it to you. I agree they can do a lot better than this but people should Consider it

      2. I’ll give it a listen but even still…4 to 5 good-decent tracks doesn’t justify me purchasing an entire album. If I wanna hear ’em I’ll just youtube it. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it out.

      3. Well they are the ones that tie the theme together if you just want something to rock to I would say flip a bird is definitely the go-to track on this album, just my opinion though. Anyway you welcome man glad to see we still got some open minds here and not just haters

    167. Starting to get worried about some of these comments.

it appears the same dickhead keeps using double line-spacing!!!!!

      THE OCCASIONAL ALL CAPS!!!!!

      loads of exclamation marks!!!!

      Album was pointless. Banged though.

    168. coffin and throw that r skippable. like fuck. Busta bus is a fkin gsta. His new album I will give a quick listen. Anyway the new SH might not b 4 little girls who use skipping ropes, but defo 4 any true hip hop fan.

    169. YOU JUST PARTICIPATED TO DISGRACING HIP HOP AND FEEDING PEOPLE WITH LIES. THE ALBUM IS TRASH AND IF IT HIP HOP WAS ROLLING IN THE GRAVE, NOW IT IS SPINNING FASTER THAN A WASHING MACHINE.

I LIKE THIS SITE, BUT HOW DEEP IN SLAUGHTERHOUSE ASS ARE DX EDITORS?

GIVING THIS WACK ASS ALBUM 4.5 STARS OUT OF FIVE IS RIDICOLOUS, IF IT’S JOKE, SORRY, IT AIN’T FUNNY, THE ALBUM AIN’T EVEN WORTH 4.5 STARS OUT OF TEN.

    170. NO OFFENSE BUT YOU GOT WHITE PEOPLE REVIEWING THESE CD’S FIRST ALCHEMIST 4.5…NOW SLAUGHTERHOUSE……LOL THIS CD IS NOT BETTER THAN NAS AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT….STOP KISSIN WHITE PEOPLE OFF AND BE REAL W RATINGS

    172. Definitely give this album another listen if you’ve only heard it once. The first time, you will surely be caught off guard by how much different and how much bigger these songs sound than most of the past Slaughterhouse songs. And yeah, some of the hooks and beats are disappointing. I agree that there is little cohesion to the album – that said, it plays a lot like a greatest hits CD. Almost all of the tracks stand alone as great, energetic songs. The lyricism is definitely still there. It just doesn’t flow together as a whole very well. 4/5

      1. where the fuck are they going, what exactly are they saying besides they can dance with a gun at the hip? seriously, can these dudes even tell a story? yall stans are blind as a bat at 3pm

    173. This album is classic and will be debated for years. See what mainstream hiphop is missing is raw rap at this moment and in this they delivered.

I diagree with the editor about the album having no direction. The theme of the album is every bit of the Album’s Title “WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE”. Song’s like Frat House, Asylum, to the zany Coffin and Throw That. All with the Shady stamp,True dat. However this album was to show off their lyricism. Most of these cuts have that I’m tryna keep it radio feel, showcases depth that the game is missing. Some of the lyrical metaphors put together in this project are insane. They are a SUPER GROUP, being this was Shady Records 1st album, I’ll give Em, the official Diddy Pass, however I’m counting on more dope music from this group.

The first album was a better sequened album, however this is pure lyrical adrenaline one. Like mixing four of your favorite liqours in a 16oz glass, and chugging it down. I Love the album, it is definately artestry to the ear.

I needed this, and its in rotation with Life is Good.

      1DA(Wunda)

    174. Eminem has been shit ever since that anger management tour involving the pills. He can’t rap and has gone mainstream. He set Slaughterhouse up for a commercial album with these crappy beats and chorus. I understand people saying the lyrics, but even with Bad meets evil which had terrible commercial beats and lyrics from Eminem only good part about that was Royce’s lyrics everything else shitty commercial beats. Same for this album no surprise for me everyone is going commercial they just want money who can blame them. Oh yeah Nas lIfe is good was freaking overated as hell last time i get a Nas cd he only had 3 good albums in his career come on man!

    175. Jesus HHDX have fallen off with their reviews. This is a 4 at absolute best, production is hit or miss, hooks are terrible and the verses are restricted. This is nowhere near Life Is Good, Live From The Underground, RAP Music, c4c or Control System.

    176. So this is nearly just as good as some hip-hop classics like: Illmatic, 36 Chambers, Ready to Die, Doggystyle, The Chronic etc.? Fuc outta here DX! lol!

      4/10

    177. “Anyone whos heard Microphone or any number of other SH cutsnot to mention its members solo cataloguesknow the damage Royce, Budden, Crooked, and Joell can do on a mic. Songs like Move On and Rain Drops from previous projects are proof. When Slaughterhouse commits themselves to being artistsnot just lyrical acrobatsthen the Hip Hop game will truly feel the groups impact.”

That’s the truest thing I’ve read in this review. Now how in the hell does it get a 4.5/5… a near perfect review?

    178. 4/5 coulda done without eminem and the poppy hooks but otherwise best lyrics to come out on a cd in last 5 years from a major record debut release

    179. Wow. . . All the hate is ridiculous. .Slaughterhouse did a good job with this album. . At least its better than their freshman release. . This album was dope. .Only a few throw away tracks. . These guys are dope and put out a dope album. .Thank you slaughterhouse for this piece of lyrical monstrosity. .

    180. This album is dope! It’s easy to listen to,and these guy clearly let the rap compittion know they’re not to be fu***d with. This crew needs more support from the rap community that seems to have went completely main stream. I’m dissapointed with most albums I buy,but I’m not dissapointed with this album at all. Slaughterhouse; KEEP slaughtering those beats. Slaughterhouse/shady’s crew will destroy any compitition who steps into thier house. It’s clearly stated on the second track. Slaughterhouse Is Dope in it’s purest form.

    182. even hiphopdx as a site is dickriding Slaughterhouse, how the hell could Nas get only 4 point and this trash album 4.5, the same as almost perfect Big K.R.I.T. album?

are you just too scared to say that WTOH is the biggest disappointment of the year?

and I’m not a hater, I really liked their first album and some of their solo albums as well… but this is just ridicolous

    183. This album is great! Slaughterhouse is killing any competition is the rap game. This album has alot of good tracks. There might be a few that I don’t like but that’s only 2 out of 20. LOL! Most albums don’t come fully loaded with 20 tracks with only 2 tracks that are throw aways. Slaughterhouse clearly states on the second track they’ll slaughter any competition that steps into thier house. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK SLAUGHTERHOUSE. KEEP KILLING THOSE MAIN STREAM BEATS. KEEP WORKING WITH EMINEM. AKA “THE KING OF HIP HOP” Nobody can mess with this crew.

    188. In 2008, four men who could only be considered as floundering decided to team up and take on the hip hop world headfirst. Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Joell Ortiz have long since been names that we recognize fromthat one song, never really putting a permanent stamp on the hip hop game. Sure, weve heard them before, and hip hop heads will claims to have known all of them, but in the grand scheme of things, theyve been just under the radar. The same can be said for Royce Da 59 who didnt see a resurgence in his career until recently, after reconciling with Eminem and putting out his own album, as well as a collaboration album that was on my Top Ten list of 2012. These four men would soon be known as Slaughterhouse and with a mixtape and a debut album that didnt exactly shock the world, even if it was highlighted for its lyricism. Soon, Shady Records took interest and signed the group. A promised album was in the works, and although it hit a minor snag, pushing the release date back a bit, it is finally here in all its glory. Does it live up to the hype that it has built up, or does it fall flat in its attempts to be different?

The album starts with an intro that could only be deemed as a welcome to the macabre. Shortly after, the track Our House sets the tone and the mood for a majority of the album. The first thing you notice is the severe amount of double and triple entendres, puns, in-verse rhymes and heavy metaphors that dont ever once feel bashed over your head or forced. Its a testament to all four of their skills, and although some are noticeably stronger than the others, none of them ever reach Lil Wayne territory of metaphors that dont make any sense. Easily, this album is top notch lyrically. Each man gets his time to shine, allowing each other to share their time one the album. Some tracks only have three of the four, others all of them. Its a nice way to assure that each man gets their just due during the entirety of the album.

With 20 tracks on the album (the Deluxe version), it does get a bit overbearing, as the songs come at you with a lot of energy. This isnt always an issue, but there are times when the production gets a bit hammer heavy, becoming more annoying than anything. Eminem has never been the best producer, but there is a noticeable excess of creativity and complexity on some of the beats. Although lyrics that are layered and multi-faceted, not all beats need to share the same dexterity. Songs like Throw It Away, Walk of Shame or even the first song, Our House could have lost a layer of snare or drums and been just as effective.

Another issue of the album is small, but noticeable. There are times when it seems they are attempting to recreate the psycho feel of D-12, with outrageous lyrics and content. It never gets too overbearing, but there are times when you feel the next person on the track is going to be Bizarre. Still, this is saved by the fact that their lyricism is just too good to allow any one song to be brought down to the low levels that D-12 would hit every now and then.

Not every track is like that, as there are far stronger songs on the album that not only display talent in the lyrical standpoint, but some great storytelling and even one standout track that tugs on the heartstrings of the listeners. In a song that has abortion and a friend dying, its amazing how Crooked I is able to effect a listener way more strongly with an ode to his uncle. Crooked I is seriously the stand out artist on the album, personally as he raps like hes got something to prove yet also seems as if he belongs behind the mic.

Even with the production issues, and the couple of attempts where it hits juvenile territory and pop fodder, there is no doubt that these four men are at the top of their particular niche; and that niche is something that has been long since dead in mainstream hip hop. The return to the focus of lyrics regardless of content is something I havent seen done this well since Eminem and Royces EP. The sheer ability that all four men possess is not something that can be duplicated, nor should it be attempted. Even when content is lacking, the lyrics bring about something that could be studied in high school for poetic devices, such as Crooked Is:

“To this game Im addicted and fiendish, Im predicted to bring this
G shit to its pinnacle zenith, lyrical genius
So sick with ridiculous English, niggas get squeamish
When they hear this criminal linguist”

Aside from this, their cleverness is top notch, with lines like Im as high as a baby on a see-saw with Precious, or So I aint trying to play with you, this chainsaw crack jokes/On Cains brother brah, disable you. There are these and countless more that will have you chuckling the entire time youre listening, and thats really the highlight of the album. Theres hardly a time when youre not gleaming off of the sheer beauty of the words, the way they are presented, and the harsh manipulation of the English language that not once feels forced.

This album will not be album of the year, and there will be many people that will claim it lacks bangers, but those people just arent listening. This album has its flaws, but they are small enough to be eradicated by the raw ability of these four men. The album is a standout, and a breath of fresh air in a stagnant hip hop game.

    189. “So this is nearly just as good as some hip-hop classics like: Illmatic, 36 Chambers, Ready to Die, Doggystyle, The Chronic etc.? Fuc outta here DX! lol!”

ALL of them albums are from the early 90’s, it’s a different place in time now Slaughterhouse had no other choice but to go this way for the album to be successful when is the last time an album that sounded like the albums you mentioned been successful? You can’t count MBDTF because that sounded completely different. Also when is the last time an album that delivers the lyrical ability like welcome to: OUR HOUSE been successful? I suppose you could count Hell: The Sequel but that was an EP and of course going to be successful because it’s got Eminem in it.

    190. I thought buying reviews had never gone so far! 4.5/5 ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

      – Awful Beats (the only decent one was throw it away)
      – Poppy generic hooks
      – Really generic lyrics
      – Poor guests spots (swizz beatz should never talk on a song)

      1.5/5

    191. Lyrical acrobats… heard that one before, says nothing. Skylar Grey could get gone. But as far as over all direction, name another one? This review sucks. The first paragraph is gossip speculating bullshit. The music people, the music.

    193. so apparently they can only do 0.5 points better??

check out the needledrop review of this. 3/10 from his end and he was talking sense

    194. Most disappointing album of the year, straight garbage status. Eminem fucked them over by forcing his Recovery sound on them, it just doesn’t work. They made an album full of wack songs. I wouldn’t be mad if they made a proper album or if they had to sell out, make some bangers! Not this corny shit, Throw that is the worst song of the past decade. Reviewer is a delusional stan.

    195. Ok, now that Snorthouse is out of the way, can we get the HRSMN going with Chino XL replacing Ras Kass….with RZA on production as well as Alchemist, Dj Premier, NO ID and Focus

    196. clearly eminems recovery is going well…

eminem thought these guys were gonna blow and let him retire…

      WRONG

      album time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. Great way to show how stupid u really are. Seems as though u hate them so u automatically hate the music. U can hate them as much as u want, but these dudes are ur favorite rappers favorite rappers for a reason. These are real lyricist. Sorry for u if u can’t recognize that.

      2. no one denies they lyricist, but this album is nowhere close to 4/5 rating….the production sounds like you listening to an Eminem album…recovery part 2

      3. what we need is for Chino XL to replace Ras Kass, and Pharoah Monch replace Kurupt and then you’ll here what you call lyricism my friend

    197. This may be one of the best and most accurate reviews for this album ive read anywhere. Most views are either skewed all the way negative or all the way positive. This is fair. Albums dope but I expected a more cohesive Slaughterhouse sound instead of the Shady records sound. Indie may be there best bet for entire creative control

    198. [Canibus]
I’m probably what you’d call a record industry population enforcer
I slaughter like a hundred rappers each quarter,
In order to keep the shit in order
I track wack niggas down from border to border

The rabbit was faster but fell asleep in the forest
But lost ’cause the tortoise had endurance
I always stay focused the longest

    200. look at SHADYS internet team keeping the 5’s flowing.

STILL GONNA FLOP AND GET THEM DROPPED. STOP IT.

      1/5

embarrassing album from an embarrassing group of rappers.

      1. I don’t think there’s any beef – SH had Monch on some of their shit and he had Royce on W.A.R.
He ain’t even one of the HRSMN but he outshines both groups.

    201. Great album. The only drawback is the selection of beats. There isn’t a wasted bar on the entire album. Lyrically as good as any album this year

      1. yeah the production sucks Mrs Balls…Eminem was working on the follow up to Relapse

Eminem failed Tupac, put G-Unit on that sh!t, he failed Obie Trice a great lyricist, failed a whola lotta rappers ever signed under him

        Eminem can only do him

am sure Slaughterhouse under G.O.O.D Music would have come out diff with production by Kanye, No ID, Just Blaze and other Good Music affiliated producers there is no going wrong

      2. Wait what?! …Good Music with slaughterhouse?? With thier weak ass lyrics about absoulutly nothing! Only thing they got is nice production but the base of slaughterhouse is real lyrical rap not bullshit about the same shit over and over….and did EM fail 50? He made 50s career even if 50 fell off after…Obie’s first album was dope ..and this album was top of the line

    202. Heard the album yesterday wasn’t too into it and I was really lookin forward to this. I didn’t find one song I wanted to buy. DX was right in sayin these dudes need to actually create songs and dynamics rather than just going in and blacking out on every track it gets boring. Production was way to commercial for these guys. 2/5

      1. they trying to sell records but they will flop commercially big time

in interviews they will say they don’t care about sales….they lying if they did not are about sales than this album wouldn’t sound so commercial

deep down their hearts, they want that Eminem paper … why would you sign with Eminem if you don’t care about slaes???

their logic dont make sense…if they care about production they could have gone indie then, put out their own money then get your Premeir, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, No ID, to do their beats

they must think we fools – we know they want the millions but WTOH wont even reach gold

    203. On the song ‘Die’, the song opens with some nigga delivering a speech saying there isn’t a rap group in the rap game that lyric for lyric could out rap these next dudes. WTF???????

      WTF????
GTFOH…HRSMN on Promo i posted below out raps this whole Welcome to our House album

the verse by Canibus kills WTOH as a whole

      [Canibus]
Rrrrrround up the horses, count up the forces
Order the arson’ to burn up the borders
Attack from the NorthEast, wait there and call me
Then on the next morning I’ll send you an army
Do not defy me, undermine me or lie to me
Ask me politely, but answer me nicely
Fore I am your King, so shall it be
So shall I rule, bow before me
I’ve grown amongst thieves, lived amongst wolves
Fought amongst bulls, failed amongst fools
I’ve robbed from the rich and taken from the poor
I’ll steal from them both, that way I’ll get more
Sleep with many whores then see them no more
Oh my Lord I can’t wait until tour
I’ll march towards France, teach them to dance
Teach them about arts, wine and romance
I’ll stalk them with knives, torture their minds
Cause them to die then run off with their wives
I’ve lived for the day, do as I may
Then plan my escape for the day I’m betrayed

Man Canibus alone out raps all these dudes combined…with Killah Priest in the mix, they floating over dudes, and throw Chino XL in the mix, Slaughterhouse will need a telescope to see these stars

    204. I think people are judging this cd all wrong because they had Slaughterhouse in a box the review is acurate Joe Budden said they had stadium music on this cd and they did it was lyrical no song sounded the same or was about the same thing they showed a lot of growth and when you listen to it these songs are realy good they got club , sex ,drugs ,mood music ,freestyle and more people wanted boombap beats and a 90s feel but Slaughterhouse made good music and was no where near 1 demensional so instead worrying how the beats dont fit them listen how they ride the beats and they make it fit i mean the mixtape was for the 90s niggas the album was for the world great job SlaughterHouse

      1. Don’t give me this is not the 90’s shit because good music is timeless. I can but some biggie or bone on and that shit jams to THIS DAY. With that being said, SH aint talking about shit on this album plain and simple. The beat selection is not “urban” if you will. It’s some depressed, emo, “in mama’s basement” type shit. No one is going to be bumping that shit on the way to the club unless they’re a white boy and aint no body going to be at the crib just vibing to the mindless lyrics that SH is rapping about. Besides “Good bye” this album is meaningless.

      2. WHY ARE Y’ALL HATING ON NIGGAS THAT GOT WAYYYY MORE MONEY THEN YOU”LL EVER HAVE EAT A DICK….THIS ALBUM WAS GREAT ONLY THE INTELLECTUAL PPL WILL UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS….OH AND ALL Y’ALL SUCK MY DICK

    205. Whats wrong with lyricist nowadays featuring lyricist that are ten times weaker than them?

1st Nas with Rick Ross, and now Slaughterhouse with B.O.B?
out of rappers they could feature, why B.O.B…for commercial appeal?

they could have featured Ras Kass, Pharoah, Talib, Nas himself, Chino XL, but they chose B.O.B and Busta Rhymes as their strongest lyrical contenders?

Commercial Flop….I know dudes is lyrical but the direction of the album is not compelling enough for me to buy it

    206. I’m looking at all of the negative comments on here about SH while I SMH. Hip-Hip has by far the most ignorant, fickle, hypocritical fan base (worse than country music). Let me get this right…you complain when the masses would rather listen to Lil Skate or Waka Falafel, but when your fave finally signs to a label to attract the masses, then the start to fall off?

Listen kids, pay attention in school instead of smoking so much trying to be like these rappers. Here’s how it works: you sign to a label, the label has a vested interest in you so they can make money as well. “Real hip-hop” cats don’t get paid, and the labels know this, so they try to doctor them up (no pun intended).

I too prefer so called real hip-hop, but I know that in this day and age when my fave underground artist signs to a label, their label albums will never match their previous work (T.I., Trick Daddy, 50 Cent, Big Krit, Buddens, Royce). Why do you think artists like Mos Def don’t put out more albums? Because they know the restraints labels put on them because they want to make money. I don’t agree with it. These big labels killed the creative game, and you ignorant MFs contributed to it too.

Off my high horse now… good album SH (although not 4/5), you worked with the hand you were dealt/chose.

      1. 50 cent wack? Maybe now, but he was “HOT” back in the early 2000s. And this is just what I mean. Sure, he’s not the best lyricist, but he IS the reason why your favorite rapper (talking directly to you anonymous) utilizes the mixtape. 50 Cent can be credited with the proliferation of today’s mixtape of original material, not just remixes or compilations (also for the decline of NY rap but that’s another topic). But today he’s wack. I don’t get this hip-hop thing anymore. No one has respect for the game, for the people who came before them. You laugh at 50, at P who set the trend for the south, at Will Smith, a late pioneer in music. People who listen to rock music have both old and new music on their mp3 player. With hip-hop, it’s ALL AND ONLY about what’s new. I don’t get it.

Damn, just realized I’m too old for this culture (and I’m only 29).

      2. So we should rate an album 5/5 after it’s been commercialised and ruined by the label?

I think the albums should be rated for how they’re perceived commercially, and then maybe labels will start getting things right.

      3. “If you holdin up the wall, then you missing the point”

Clearly you are missing the point. You want to rely on labels to make things right? Not the solution brother.

One solution is for artists to take control over there own music, create labels or sign to labels that give them the creativity they desire while also allowing them to make enough dough to feed the family. Trust me, a cooperate suit who use to be an exec at Kraft Foods but now is on the board at a major label has no business dictating what a hip-hop album should sound like.

That’s why I have so much respect for the brother Tech N9ne, because he’s doing his own thing. He had the option to sign to Eminem to, but he respectfully declined. That’s why he gets to make the music he wants to make.

      1. feels like a thrown-together collection of (extremely) cornball posse cuts. The album lacks direction, and its aesthetic (both lyrical imagery and musical) seems a little overly influenced by Shady.

    207. Did you hear? Apple is making a new product for Slaughterhouse called “IFLOP” that’ll spit out the reasons why they indeed…”flopped”. Instead of an alarm clock beeping noise the IFLOP will play corny circus music to remind them to pick better beats. When they use the navigation feature it will have Em’s annoying accent voice giving them the wrong directions to places so that way they’ll learn not to listen to Em for shit. And most importantly when they go to buy something the “IFLOP” will chime, “SOLD OUT”… oh and I hear apple is giving this to these guys for free after listening to the album.

      1. mama’s dick. It’s my opinion and it was funny but you too busy sucking slaughterhouses dick to get the joke.

      2. yea the whole point of trolling is to get people like u all mad as hell n he definitely succeeded yall pissed as shit lol

    208. gave it a 4, pretty dope album but the reviewers right, kinda felt thrown together with no real direction, i feel like this was a tease and w.e they do next as a group i hope will really be deep and make and impact, my opinion link up with black hippy and with those 8 along with dre and em hop in the studio, biggest part of black hippys success is that they are making music they wanna make not what dre or their tde management want, i think SH has so much pontential that has yet to be reached but can and hopefully will

    209. We all know SL has skillz but this album is horrible:

      – no concepts,
      – no meaning with exception of the track goodbye
      – techno beats
      – poppy hooks
      etc.

Well are these the guys that must save hiphop? Lol these fucks been already 12 years in the game and still not able to make an album. Making music is more then spitting bars.

      1. @ Austin

Whats so great about this album? Tell me?

Did you ever listen to other hiphopgroups as:

        – nwa
        – geto boys;
        – outkast
        – wu-tang clan
        – tribe
        – dela soul
        – bone thugs

Those are real hiphop groups with chemistry etc.

    210. You gotta look at this album for what it is, not for what it should be. It’s clearly a commercial album, is that what Slaughterhouse should be doing ? Absolutely not. Is it a good commercial album ? Yes it is. I understand people are disappointed, I’m disappointed too, but for what it is, it’s good. It’s better than 90% of the commercial albums out right now. I would give this 3.5 or 4, I would never give this 4.5 though.

      1. As disappointed I was with this album, I will say that they’re rapping better than the majority of people that are doing this kind of music. But that doesn’t change the fact that I only liked less than 25% of this album. :/

      2. if it was a good commercial album, it would sell much more than projected 50-60k

the album sounds like throwaway tracks from eminem and all that commercial producers, maybe if Lil Wayne, B.o.B or 2 Chainz would rap over some of that beats, it would be okay, the production doesn’t fit to Slaughterhouse rappers at all

and literally, half of the tracks are either rapping about nothing or bullshit, what is lyrical about throwing a dick on a girl? all the singles released from the album were trash and I’m not wondering they all flopped.

from 20 tracks, only 6-7 are really decent work, after the first album this is real disappointment

even God forgives, I don’t got more spins in my player, maybe Ross doesn’t have lyrics on the same level as these guys, but production fits him very well and it all sounds good together, and I’m not mentioning albums like Nas or Big K.R.I.T., both almost perfect albums this year

      3. I thought Goodbye was the best single that they’ve released. The only thing that ruined the song for me was the hook.

I agree with you on Nas & Big K.R.I.T., though.

    211. THE GROUP HAS NO CHEMISTRY, THE ONLY THING COMMON IS THAT THEY ARE ALL WACK
      – ROYCE NEVER BEEN RELEVANT, ONLY THING HE KNOWS IS SUCKING EMINEM’S DICK LIKE ON BAD MEETS EVIL, HIS LAST ALBUM WAS TITLED SUCCESS IS CERTAIN, PLEASE, WHY? WHAT SUCCESS? SELLING 30K COPIES? THAT’S WHAT YOU CALL SUCCESS?
      – JOE BUDDEN USED TO BE NOT AS BAD AS OTHER MEMBERS BUT HE FELL OFF YEARS AGO, NOW HE JUST LOOKS LIKE A WALKING PENIS WITH NO RAPPING ABILITIES
      – CROOKED I IS IN THE GAME 8965864 YEARS AND STILL HAVE NO SOLO ALBUM, HIS CAREER IS DEAD AND NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT HIM
      – JOELL ORTIZ IS PROBABLY THE WORST RAPPER IN THE GAME, ENOUGH SAID, I COULDN’T IMAGINE ANYTHING WORSE THAN HIM, ENJOY BEING FREE AGENT, AS A SOLO ARTIST YOU WILL BE NEVER RELEVANT

AND TELL ME WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT LYRICS ON THAT ALBUM, IT’S JUST STUPID BLABBING ABOUT NOTHING, THROW THAT DICK ? THEY MUST THROW DICKS ON EACH OTHER LOL, NOBODY WITH BRAIN WOULD SIGN TO SHADY, EMINEM REALLY FUCKS UP CAREERS OF EVERY ARTIST EVER SIGNED TO HIM, MAYBE 50 CENT IS AN EXCEPTION, BUT HE FELL OFF LATELY EITHER

    212. I forecasted this shit better than a weatherman…I said last week that week SH bombs commercially and critically SH dick riders would STILL find lame excuses to justify an album purchase. If you like it fine but dont call people a troll because they don’t like it.

    213. Dickriders say the beat selection was boo boo because it’s a mainstream album…that’s dumb.

Big Krit has a mainstream album yet he still kept his “sound” while adding club bangers like “Money on the floor” and “I got this”. But you still have tracks like “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and the B.B king song.

Dickriders also say “This isn’t the 90’s” which is a stupid defense because alot of the classic songs still jam to this damn. But the thing is SH doesn’t have to all bomb bap.

In fact they need to mix it up by having soulful beats and etc…not an album entirely of circus music.

      1. and big krit aint selling nothing either tho now is he…. real hiphop heads arnt selling music how come you dont get it… if they were common and mos def and talib would be the big thing on these Major labels but they arnt and why? cuz they understand that these labels are tryna make their money too. its not dick riding its fact. ITS NOT THE 90s just like i said before nigga. the big names could have easily been on major labels and did the Str8 raw hiphop thing and sold. but the labels know that even tho its good music the so called hiphop heads are too busy downloading thier favorite hiphop artist music that they will lose money instead of gaining from it…

      2. The real reason why real hiphop doesn’t sell is because that’s NOT what’s being marketed. Krit wasn’t marketed right at all. There is no machine behind them…that is why they don’t sell.

Aside from this, their cleverness is top notch, with lines like “Im as high as a baby on a see-saw with Precious, or So I aint trying to play with you, this chainsaw crack jokes/On Cains brother brah, disable you.” There are these and countless more that will have you chuckling the entire time youre listening, and thats really the highlight of the album.

      1. After reading your “review” all I got was that the beats could’ve been better and that the MC’s are dope lyricist. 2 things I already know. What I didn’t get is WHY should I buy the album. What’s the message? The shit that’ve heard is just over the top violence depicted via masterful lyricism aka some EM type shit. This is not real hip hop. I can’t relate to no asylum or any of the other dump “I’m a serial killer” type songs on the album. Talk about a loved one dying or being broke or how haters hate when you have money and they don’t…real life shit. Not this fictious bullshit.

      2. Yes I do buy albums dickhead…the ones that interest and I ONLY DOWNLOAD MIXTAPES…not retail albums. I bought Big Krit album and I’ve bought Yelawolf’s album…both of wish are far better than this meaningless shit. Yela was radio friendly but also had a meassage. What do you get from SH? Yela should’ve gotten the publicity and not SH.

      1. So you might as well just get their mixtape. What’s the point of these guys even making an album? Lyrics with no message = Nothing.

      2. “Lyrics with no message”

??? What about Our House, My Life, Rescue Me, Goodbye, Our Way & The Other Side… Now whether you like them or not they still have messages.

    215. Shut up, you fucking keyboard warriors! get off your seeping fat ass have a shower and get out in the real world

    216. they tried to reach out too the masses to sell records as much as they say they dont care about the record sells the Major label does so they reached out to mostly Em fans because its been proven that em fans buy his records… they may be stans but they buy them shits and make him money.. a lotta people are not open minded thats why they got mad at Jay when he switched it up… “wanna here my old shit buy my old album”. On the House was basically for the hiphop fans. the album was for the commercial/hiphop people.

      1. Ur argument is null and void. Slaughterhouse failed plain and simple. Their go was to go mainstream…whether that be to sell more or get their music heard by more fans or both…anyone of these options was their goal and they failed.

      1. HOW!? HOW!? HOW!? Are you in a position to tell them what to do? Bitch you have no Identity! And everybody clicking on this page knows who Royce da 5’9″ is, they know who Joe Budden is, they know who Joell Ortiz is, they know who Crooked I AND THEY KNOW WHO SLAUGHTERHOUSE! IS.

      2. lmao @ CJonno’s period blood leaking in his panties. Slaughterhouse fans are so quick to catch feelings and defend their boy band. I fuck with Black Hippy, but do you know what I do when I see a hater post? I ignore it! And go back to listening to what I like cuz that’s all the fuck that matters!

    217. Dope cd, love the beats n production…you call yaself a slaughter fan?..you know this cd was to catch new fans..they didnt compromise their lyrics…their mixtape was hott, u still got lyrics…their second cd on eminem label will be even better, cuz they got more buzz

    218. My ears bleed when I hear beat for “My Life” rather review JJ DOOM Key to the Kuffs…
Doom is twice better than whole slaughterhouse together

I cant help but HHDX staff looks like Slaughterhouse chearleaders and biggest fanboys

This LP is mediocre, you gave to Aesop 3.5 and now you put 4.5 to this??!? *facepalm*

    219. Some closed minded hip hop fans just don’t understand ..album has lyrics and music ..stop putting these guys in a small box they are artists

    220. I was so pumped for this album, bought the shit as soon as itunes had released it. I just cannot find a good song, found a couple ok songs but nothing that I would be like “Yo you need to check this verse out” I still got faith in the group to make quality music but I believe they missed it on this album… I think i may have set my expectations a little high…

    221. The album is dope I’m kinda disappointing cus i thought truth or truth part 2 would b on this album i guess there saving it for there next project. Like Joell said on Cut u loose”nowadays rewind button have mad dust on it” bout damn time i used my rewind button it’s been awhile old friend.

      1. The fast forward button hasn’t been used in a while. But then I downloaded this album & the skip button has become my close friend. lol

    222. Like someone already said this is a commercial album gotta think of it business wise you do this first to get the people who never heard of slaughterhouse to like them now the next project will b straight what they want. Not saying this album was wack far from it but if they would have went with that underground hiphop mentality they would barely sale any records. That’s what On the House was for, for us. At the end of the day this album is the best album of the year right next to Life is Good.

    223. every one on here is jelous of there success (no point denying this) if you dont like it go and rate something else or secretly listen to the album (we know you do) i rate it 5/5 reminds me of recovery and BME hell the sequel, reply if you think otherwise but i wont bother looking at them though…

    224. too many keyboard warriors on her, great album if you dont like it then listen to pop and r&b bitches if you dont like the album you clearly dont like hip hop!

      1. This is Pop you fool, that’s what all the heads are complaining about. Why the fuck should I have to listen to Skylar Grey scream like a strangled goat for 10 minutes just to hear a 30 second Crook verse?

      1. LMAO @ and I mean AT “thafranchise” because if it sells then hopefully other record labels will be motivated to promote real lyricists rather than these gimmick acts.

      1. I thought Coffin, Hammer Dance & Die were the only good songs on the album. 3 out of 16 tracks (20 for Deluxe Edition) is really, really bad, especially if you take all of their talents & abilities into consideration. smmfh

      2. If u thought coffin and throw that were the best songs your opinion really doesn’t matter and you know nothing about music

    225. I haven’t heard the album but this review doesn’t make any sense. They give it a 4.5/5 and then say “slaughterhouse is capable of so much more”. That’s the highest rating for an album on this site all year! Also “and are likely belong in that ‘all time’ conversation – as skilled emcees”… Did somebody actually get paid $ to write this?

    226. This is a solid album. I’ve had it on heavy rotation since I bought it. Get up is a great track along with Our House and Asylum. I think Joe Budden is as solid as Royce on any of the tracks.

    227. Great album, no doubt. Personally I think HHDX lost their sense of rating, Life is Good only got 4 stars and to me it’s practically classic. God Forgives, I don’t has got a high rating, complete bullshit, and yes I have given that album a chance. This album is great, though it’s not as good in comparison to Life is good (my opinion), So if we follow the ”Life is Good-rating direction”, then this album would have like 3.5. If we follow the ”God forgives, I don’t-rating direction”, this would have 20 stars. I guess they do get paid to rate…

      1. Speaking of production for Officer Ricky’s album, imagine if Slaughterhouse had them beats… They’ve already shown William wastes good beats with Truth or Truth Pt. 1 & Ya Talkin’.

    228. probably da worst album of da year. Slaughterhouse’s soft pop muzik sucks. deze niggaz are just pop singers. Eminem is da most popular pop singer on Eart, so he singed a boy band. lmao. Lil Wayne iz da last true MC alive. fuck Laughterhouse. fuck Shady! fuck Eminem! fuck Pop muzik!

Lil Wayne and Drake saved hip hop wit deir innovative progressive muzik. Tha Carter IV is da last classic hip hop album. swag

      1. I sincerely hope your comment was a joke. If not then you should try to go finish up school and get your diploma if you have any brain cells left. Lil Wayne and drake are the epitome of pop you moron, I can’t turn on the radio without hearing something from them and anybody in slaughterhouse could lyrically destroy drakeanytime anyday and murder Lil Wayne in freestyling

      1. You think Flip A Bird is wack? wtffff, did you not take in the verses? That’s one of my favorite songs on the album.

    230. Welcome to Our house is meant to compliment On the House. Can’t have one without the other. It’s like walking around with 1 shoe.

    231. CD was good music covered everything party, strip club, car music, drug, mood music, freestyle, deep music and to top it off it was lyrical and had mad bangers so these dudes hating are because SH made some great music not just freestyles with boombap beats and 1 or 2 deep songs great review way better then Deadearhiphop

    232. Could and should have been a lot better IMO – Dissapointing considering their talent. Lyrics are tight but not a fan of most of the beats and hooks

    233. SLAUGHTERHOUSE to FANS: Thank y’all for such an exlusive opportunity to flop one more time. We appreciated all the fans who don’t buy our album and I really hope we won’t do number one numbers. We all know we recorded a wack ass album, but we tried so hard to make it as wack as possible (and we failed, the album is even worse).

INTERSCOPE: Sorry, boys, your deal is over and you owe Shady $ 100,000. Next time you should do better album and you will have to do it on a different label.

EMINEM to SH: I’m so glad we did it together and I like to be a part of that album, it’s like, on another lyrical level and I tried to improve everything on it.

EMINEM to himself: Yeeeeeeeeeah, I just fucked up another rappers’ careers, soon they will drop, but I tried so hard like with Yela last time – fuck up the beats, make sure the singles will flop and album will be wack, give them some throwaway verses and persuade Skylar Grey to hop on that wack shit. And I hope, the won’t sold over 80k, it would be too good to group which desire is to flop and fell off.

CROOKED I: Damnit, I’ve been rappin’ since 2452 B.C. and still have no album

HIPHOPDX editors: Okay, we just recieved $ 3,000 and copy of WT:OH from Eminem, so we should write a review, or not? Better be positive, yes, we got paid for it. I would give it 5 stars, but everybody will see what we did there, so we just gave them 4,5.

REAL HIP HOP FANS: Man, that album really sucks, the biggest disappointment of the year, Sellouthouse. Damn, I used to like their previous work, now it’s just wack, garbage beats, throwaway verses and rapping about nothing.

WANNABE FANS OF so-called “LYRICAL” HIP HOP: Slaughterhouse are the best! BEST album of the year so far, it’s classic, better than Slim Shady LP, better than Doggystyle, Wu-Tang albums, Ridin’ Dirty, Food and Liquor and Based on a T.R.U. Story combined. Y’all stupid who don’t like this album and don’t support real hip hop.

      YEBO:
HIP HOP IS DEAD, IT’S SUCH A SHAME THEY GOT ALMOST FIVE STARS, EVERYBODY WHO BOUGHT THAT SHIT SHOULD BURN TO DEATH IN HELL FOR DESTRUCTING THE REAL HIP HOP IN ITS ESSENCE.

AND HIPHOPDX, WHY THERE ISN’T POSSIBILITY TO GIVE THAT WACK ALBUM ZERO STARS? I HAD TO GIVE THEM ONE STAR EVEN THOUGH THEY DON’T DESERVE IT AT ALL.

      1. I’M NOT A HATER, I’M JUST A SPECIAL MESSANGER FROM THE OUTER SPACE AND MY MISSION IS TO SAVE REAL HIP HOP AND SHARE THE MESSAGE ABOUT EVERY FAKE ARTIST IN THE INDUSTRY, LIKE SLAUGHTERHOUSE.

      2. The fucked up thing is…even though you was bored as shit to write this shit…the album is borderline terrible. I’m a huge fan, too.

      3. Real Hip Hop Fans
This bitch doesn’t speak for us…he said he’s from outer space!!! The only signals he gets out there is Soulja Boy, Wacka Flocka, and shit like that because that’s all the radio plays. Go back to your own fucking planet or we will Area 51 your ass!

        Just a Person
I like YEBO…if only I could ass fuck him and suck his dick at the same time!

        YEBO to Just a Person
Well I’m an alien and my penis is on the back of my head so it is very possible…have at it earthling!

    234. This review is written like y’all meant to give it like 3.5 not a 4.5.

Speaking of 3.5 that what this album deserves. It’s just a now-producer all-call: T-Minus, Boi-1da, Kane Beatz, Alex Da Kid, etc. These are beats better for Drake or those type of dudes. Lyrically it’s tight but yea, I am not gonna sit here and trash it. It is what it is: a disappointment.

    235. Joe Budden is my favorite rapper hands down. I expected a lot from this album. I am terribly disappointed. That’s all I’m saying.

    236. gave it another listen…it just isn’t a 4.5 album, it’s pretty disappointing actually. production is GOD awful. there was not a single beat i liked, they all have mainstream sounds now. the lyrics don’t speak on anything that’s going on in the real world. just partying, drugs, i’ll fuck you up and i used to deal drugs. Rescue Me was the one track that should have delivered and it sounded half-ass. this is recovery part two basically. Life is Good…now that deserves 4.5 stars. at least the beats were listenable and the poetry was there. slaughterhouse is catering to douchey frat boys now, wtf is this

    237. People were just waiting for this album to have slight faults to bash it, look at all the reviews I would say it averaged at 3.5/5 and everybody’s saying it’s shit. I guess it’s a compliment for Slaughterhouse to say an average album from the is shit.

    238. Stop it people! This album is hands down a banger, and lyrical classic.Superb lyrics, tight tracks, easily crushing anything out now!!! Or maybe u guys arent giving it a chance cuz Wayne, Nikki Minag, and Drake, Trey Songs,Travis Porter or 2Chainz didnt get features…SMDH SIMPLETONS!!!

      1. I don’t like any of the artists that you listed near the end, but even I thought this album was a complete & total disaster. The production didn’t fit SH & the hooks were horrible. And not only that, a LOT of their lines on this album were extremely corny & cheesy. And this is coming from a SH fan. Well, a disappointed fan, actually.

By the way, just because somebody doesn’t like an album, artist or a group that resembles “real Hip Hop” doesn’t always mean they’re gonna like the rappers that everyone bashes just cause they’re not lyrical Gods and/or have a specific type of sound that resembles “real Hip Hop”. That’s an immature & childish thing to say.

    239. Way better than shit that omes out these days. I think this album is like a John coltrane song . You have to keep up with the rythym and lyrics. Its innovative shit. But you simple minded fucks wouldnt understand that!!!!

    240. I found this one gets much better on the second listen. The first time its hard to keep up, and the mood is all over the place with the tracklist. 2nd time through its great! 4 stars.

    241. If you’re skeptical about this albums worth, try listening to it all the way thru. Thought it was somewhat decent for some reason, but now its growing on me..

Solid 4, not a classic, but better than 90% of the shit on shelves right now.

    242. Before it was released I listened to a few of the leaked tracks and was disappointed. However, after getting the physical copy and listening to each song mix and mastered, my initial disappointment was unwarranted. This is a great album with strong lyrics and production, and the way it was put together was great – cop the album support real music.

    243. Some hip hop heads don’t understand music .album is overall is top 10 of year ..bonus tracks def make album more complete

    244. 1. John 16:33 (Intro)

        17. Fight Music (Produced by DJ Toomp)
        18. Love This Life (Produced by 1500 or Nothin’)

    245. I really enjoyed this album, track after track, lifting weights to it. I thought it would suck but I found myself enjoying it, I didn’t skip one track and I know Im going to keep it on heavy rotation. I should actually hate it but I don’t. Even the poppy tracks were forgiveable because of the hot lyricism and you know they were just having fun.

      1. Comment of the Year!!! LOL!!!! I appreciate the honest evaluation. These SausageHouse fans are pathetic. How can you force garbage to sound good, WTF! MMG wins again “Poof there goes the Sausage”!

      2. And what exactly do you call “real” hip hop? Let me guess, YMCMB? Just because the beats weren’t completely pop-ish and radio sounding doesn’t make them bad and throwaway verses? Did you even listen to the lyrics? I’m sure you’re one of those assholes that torrented like 2 songs and then wrote that gay ass comment acting like you know what music is

      3. Compared to artists in the mainstream, Slaughterhouse is rapping better than the majority of people that are doing this type of music. I’ll give them that. But even then, the lyrics on this album aren’t up to par with their previous material. Everyone in SH all sound like they were holding back throughout the entire album. There were quotables on the 1st album but there weren’t any quotables on WT:OH. The only quotables on here are the ones that are extremely corny & cheesy. Everything sounds watered down, IMO. It’s pretty sad.

      4. are you trippin’? the beats were EXACTLY like every pop-ish rap album released recently, just take a look at producers, T-Minus, Hit-Boy, StreetRunners, Alex da Kid, Boi-1da, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, the same people who produced some of the Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Nas, Eminem, Drake, DJ Khaled and other mainstream artists recently, stop dickriding Slaughterhouse

      5. hahahaha great comment i used to like slaughterhouse but all their songs are just rapping about random shit not one has any subject matter great lyricism isnt enough to make great artists this album sucked

      6. THANK YALL, MOST OF THE TIME EVERYBODY IS HATING MY COMMENTS AND MY SHIT, BUT IT IS NICE TO SEE SOME PEOPLE WHO GOT THEIR EYES OPEN INSTEAD OF FOLLOWING THAT BUBBLEGUM WANNABE POP ALBUM.

      7. If y’all haven’t got it yet. The troll “Yebo” is YESSIR under a new name cause everyone else was hating on that fag. So he thought he would troll under a new name. I didnt bother reading your shit comment either, just saw your name so I thought i would call u out again. O ya, u still don’t know shit about hiphop. And o ya, u still need to kill yourself.

      8. Sausagehouse Flop Meat Special!!!! $2.00LB

EBT accepted! Hurry the meat is going fast, but there are plenty of albums left lol!!!

    247. Did you hear? Apple is making a new product for Slaughterhouse called “IFLOP” that’ll spit out the reasons why they indeed,”flopped”.

      1. IGAY is so corny but I would except nothing less from a nerdy white boy whole thnks this album is a classic. Go suck yo mama’s dick.

    248. Not really a cohesive album. Definitely tried to market it to the masses which immediately turns off any hip-hop fan because its fake.

Can’t knock the styles and lyrics flexed on the album though. Couple of really good cuts. Our House, Goodbye, Flip a Bird, and Our Way.

Lesson learned, Shady needs beef for Slaughterhouse to get any acclaim because they have very little subject matter and if you wanna diss the industry, don’t join it and try to ship a clearly commercial attempt.

Personal Life Hip-Hop is Real Rap and Sells Records

    249. The more I listen to the album the more I like it. Our house, coffin, hammer dance, get up, flip a bird, rescue me, frat house, goodbye, our way, asylum n walk are all good songs. The album has great lyrics, good to great concepts, and ok to good beats. Very good album. And for all you haters listen to our way, they’re talking to you…

      1. I find it funny how they named the song “Our Way” when it’s clearly obvious that they did it Eminem’s way…

    250. I gotta admit 4.5 stars is too high, but the disrespect alot of yall are giving this album is unreal and uncalled for. THis shit is better than the D-12 albums….its a dope album

      1. I can understand you saying you like this album, but better than all of D-12’s albums? Sounds like you’re reaching.

      2. yeah this is a dope album but its not even close to devils night thats just an incredible record that slaughterhouse cant fuck with

    251. This album might not be the best of the year, but it’s easily worth of 4 stars.

      Only songs I don’t like:
      – Get Up (beat is annoying)
      – My Life (Bullshit beat and too Wayne-ish – too much of a pop song-like)

Two bad songs makes it a strong 4 star album.

    252. If you didnt get the limited Edition one, you missed on the best tracks of the album.
Seriously lol. I hated the first couple of tracks on the album but those last 8 or 9 tracks were just all fire.

    253. Hip hop fans are not used to this kind of hip hop anymore its not music from the south you can dance and sing along to you have to pay attention
After a good few spinz i like it even more

      1. So Throw It Away & Park It Sideways are songs that you can’t dance & sing along to? You HAVE to closely listen to them? Get the fuck outta here.

    254. You know why you all hate Jay-Z? I can sum it up for you in one quick statement. You hate Jay-Z because he is everything your favorite rapper will never be. Honestly, take a look at the following statement. “Another number one album would make 10 for Jay-Z, which would move him into a tie with Elvis Presley. The Beatles have the most number one albums with 19. Instead of giving props because an entertainer (especially an African American entertainer…I’m white but I dont miss the significance…) being even mentioned in the same breath as the greats (they are greats cuz of the numbers they did….not cuz of the music they did…i dont fuck with E or the Beatles…) such as Elvis and The Beatles is an accomplishment in and of itself. On top of that…Jay is doing it over a period of time where most everyone is downloading music and not buying it as much.

Let me make a comparison to show you what I’m saying. Ok…Shaq has over the period of his career won 4 championships. He also has averaged better field goal percentage and more rebounds in an NBA where the league talent has gone up. Most guys are missing less shots and yet Shaq is averaging more rebounds then the great big men (wilt kareem ect) in a league where LESS shots are missed.

Now lets flip it to music. Jay-Z has 10 (most likely after this week…) number one debuts. He also has 9 or 10 platinum albums (i wasnt able to find the figures for volume one…but I did for the rest…) Now…those number’s by themself are staggering. I mean damn the God MC H-O-V has 9 or 10 platinum SOLO albums? Come on man that’s rediculous. But you want to make it even more rediculous…check the hip hop sales overall (not his…but everyones) from Reasonable Doubt through American Gangster. EVERYONE KNOWS that it is going down and less and less people are actually buying music…instead they are downloading for free. SO what I’m basically telling you is from Reasonable Doubt to American Gangster Jay has kept selling albums like the BEatles and Elvis in an era where the average fan isn’t buying records.

Theirfore Jay is Shaq of the rap game without the missed free throws. H-O-V.

“Can’t leave rap alone the game needs me/ haters want me clapped with chrome it ain’t easy”
      Jay-Z

      G.O.A.T.

Lastly…Bitches lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t lie. Look at my homies numbers.

      (mg)

      1. Stop trolling and get off Jay’s dick…

“Bitches lie. Women lie. Numbers don’t lie. Look at my homies numbers. ”

Jay has never had an album that’s sold more than any other rap album that year, the reason he’s sold quite a bit is because of the large quantity of albums he’s put out and the majority of his albums were released when people actually bought albums.

      2. It’s easy to brag about having a #1 album.. but u NEVER hear this nikka say how many consecutive weeks his album is #1.. that’s a Billboard catergory Jay can’t even fuck with

      3. Jay-Z is definitely a legend, but his music is boring IMO. I’m not saying he’s a bad rapper at all, I just find him to be average. He’s better than a lot of the hot rappers out right now, but I still don’t care for him like that.

    255. This shit has totally no replay value. Within a few weeks everybody is forgotten about his album. Oh and fuck all you stans. But hey you cant help it you are 14 years old and this is your first “real” hiphop album album after you boght albums from Whiz Khalifa, Drake, Wayne, Flo Rida and other garbage.

      1. Excellent point. I agree 110%. These young fans have no clue about hip hop classics. This is just “todays hip hop” All those guys can rap no doubt but this album is proof they cant make songs together

    256. yeah, i think there could have been a bit more cohesion in the project, but i think Em and SH felt that Slim’s presence was necessary , both to prove that the signing was worth it, and to allow it to appeal to Eminem fans who wouldn’t have heard of SH (except Royce)

      1. That’s funny how you brought up Eminem cause that was EXACTLY what Slaughterhouse was doing with this album. They were targeting this album towards Eminem’s (Recovery) fans.

      2. that’s a good point, I can see it. The production is pretty good for the most part, but it definitely goes in the direction of Recovery. I didn’t expect the album to just be bar after bar of freestyle lyricism, that’s what the lead in mixtape was for. These need to be crafted songs that showcase some lyricism. Some might be disappointed with the album, but I think it will have more replay value than their previous projects, and this is the type of sound that will reach a wider audience, not just hip hop heads looking for lyrics.

    260. The guy called Yebo is yessir and his life is fucked up!He is sittin behind his keyboard and hatin on SH every mothafukkin day.Get a life punkass !!

      1. YOU STUPID, I’M NOT YESSIR AND IF YOU ARE READING HIS AND MINE OPINIONS (AND FACTS AS WELL), YOU WOULD GET IT, DUMBASS

YOU ARE PROBABLY JOELL ORTIZ COUSIN, ONLY HE IS SUCH RETARDED OR HIS WHOLE FAMILY SUCKS AT RAPPING? IF NOT, YOU SHOULD START RAPPING, YOU WOULD BE ALOT BETTER THAN HIS WACK ASS.

      2. Yebo is yessir. Fucking queer. Go kill yourself now. I’ll admit ill read your dumbass comments…just to shake my head and laugh about how much u actually know about hiphop. Which u don’t know shit. Go buy a Bieber or Wayne album fag. And o ya, think I already mentioned this but…DIE BITCH!!

    261. DO YOU NEED YESSIR TO COME HERE A SAY HE AIN’T ME? PERSONALLY (BASED ON HIS COMMENTS) I DON’T THINK YESSIR IS FAN OF LYRICISTS SUCH AS LUPE FIASCO OR NAS.

BUT YESSIR SHARES A POSITIVE MESSAGE AND IF EVERY FAN IS LIKE HIM, HIP HOP WILL BE SAFE AND LIVING PROPERLY FOREVER.

NOW HIP HOP IS DEAD AND LAUGHTERHOUSE WITH POP ASS SINGER EMINEM ON FRONT ARE TRYING TO BURY IT EVEN DEEPER AND ARE PISSING ON THE GRAVE EVERYTIME THEY OPEN THEIR MIND.

HE GIVES PROPS TO WEEZY, 2 CHAINZ AND OTHER NIGGAS WHO REALLY DO THEIR THANG AND ARE LYRICALLY ABOVE DICKHEADS LIKE SAUSAGEHOUSE, KENDICK LAME-AR, BROKE ASS YESSIN BEY (LOL AT HIS NEW NAME), JAY ELECTRIONICA, LA COKA NOSTRA AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY RUINING EVERYTHING THAT REAL HIP HOP ARTIST TRIED TO BUILD OVER THE YEARS.

    262. that album sucks, sorry, I like Slaughterhouse members, but doing that together was the worst decision ever (even though the first album was actually good)

and it will flop anyway, because it was the most hyped album of the year, everytime, Slaughterhouse this, Slaughterhouse that, Slaughterhouse talking random things about Eminem, they will have to sell over a million copies in its first week to not being a flop

not even 2 Chainz or Rick Ross had that kind of promo and all of SH singles flopped so hard

      1. All the artists solo careers tanked when they all were supposed to blow up! This cd was really good! Slaughterhouse has 4 of the best lyrically rappers alive. Ya the music behind the rapping has changed but that will always change overtime no matter what so accept it. This cd was by far the best of the year! If you dont think so you need to step up your music game bud cause this shit is dope!

      2. When is the last time an album sold a mill in a week? Your saying anything under platinum in a week is a flop for a rap group that is just now getting mainstream shine??

      3. I love the House Gang but.. Life is Good was better so was Control System; EASY.. and we’ll be seeing a Kendrick Lamar CD this year.. *shrug*

    263. Ja saw the first week sales projections and laughed while making the last batch of license plates. He’ll be out in no time to save hip hop from Em and Jimmy’s evil intentions.

    264. Did you hear? Apple is making a new product for Slaughterhouse called “IFLOP” that’ll spit out the reasons why they indeed,”flopped”.

    265. This music puts me to sleep -_- since when does rappers spitting versatile on the mic with crappy hook, crappy beat, and crappy subject matter automatically translate into great album just because they spit bars????

    266. I have to admit I was highly disappointed when I listened to this record. Being a huge fan since their first mixtape, I expected something a lot better than this. The mixtape was amazing because they just spit bars and didn’t worry about hooks and getting star appearances/producers. This album was made specifically to sell records and it probably will. But for Slaughterhouse, it’s terrible. Compared to the rest of the industry today, it’s an amazing album. Whether that says how amazing Slaughterhouse CAN be or how awful the game is today is in the air. I hope they make enough money so that their next album is more like their earlier work (mixtape, album and Shady EP they put out last year) because this shit was mediocre for them.

      1. I’m a fan of lyrics just like any other true hip hop fan but I’m glad this album isn’t exactly like the mix tape, I don’t always wanna hear a bunch of tracks with niggas just spitting how dope they are lyrically I like good songs with good hooks and beats just as much, their has to be a balanced… this a good album I enjoyed it

    267. Best album of the year so far. Goodbye was a classic. I think they should have placed truth or truth from on the house mixtape as the outro for the album but all in all very good album.

    268. Solid album, except for couple of over produced tracks. And for those who wanted something like their previous record, there is On The House. I really like the fact that slaughterhouse has evolved from their previous work, in a good way.

And like they said, there is shady’s fingerprint all over this album, he’s done an awesome work co-producing the album and and producing few tracks.

That “Coffin” track featuring Busta is throw away piece though. 8/10

    269. Im a big Em and Slaughterhouse fan but for a debut album it was alright. I persoanlly think On The House mixtape was better. Em I hate to say kinda ruined this album from being better. Production wise as far as beats…Araab should do a full collab album with them because “See Dead People” and “Hammerdance” we’re the dopest beats on both projects besides “The Illest”. I give it a 4 and On The House is a 5 though.

    270. Great mixtape and album, people may hate the chorus but listen to the lyrics. The mixtape is more grounded cause was strictly for the lyrical fans, the album was to get a more mainstream brand name out there and show Shady Records that lyrical artists can still sell records if supported, so go out and BUY THE ALBUM

    271. People say best album of the year.. Em Stans. That’s my only logical reasoning as to why they say that.. This album was above average but yo uguys need to go back and look at the albums released this year..

      Control System..
      Life is Good..
      I’ll stop there

      1. Music ain’t a dictatorship people will choose what their favourite regardless of what your favourite is get the fuck over it.

    272. This is by far the most lyrical Pop album of all time! 4.5 dx? You gotta be trolling! Imma huge sh fan but i’m sorry this album is garbage. I’m not gonna sit here and compare it to other industry standard bull ish. They don’t get a pass from me. I’m gonna compare it to the potential they have and they conformed and did what just about everyone does when they go major. Bunch of lyrical non sense peppered with a few stabs at some content. Damn slaughterhouse say it ain’t so!

    273. Was expecting more. The first three tracks are horrible. I wanted to slit my writs they are so bad. Even the local white rappers in my city have better songs. hammer dance,Get up, goodbye are the best cuts the rest is pop hooks with pop production. Rapsody’s album was far better. But of course noone here has the balls to say it. This album is for 15 year old white kid stoners.

      1. hate hate hate fuck u nigga so the beats werent hard but the bars are on point.. always gotta bring up “only white people listen to slaughterhouse” typical predictable hater shit

      2. Another fool saying only white kids hear slaughterhouse ..so what are you saying that white kids listen to good intelligent rhymes and lyrics ?? ..smart hip hop heads who understand lyrics and music listen to slaughterhouse ..dumb clowns like you make these stupid comments

    274. Peter your on stupid bastard I don’t even like hip hop all that much I can respect good music when the lyrics are good. However you are the problem with society today. You spit off these racist slurs that get nowhere or nothing you said something about two different races I’m a white guy and pray that you aren’t because you are a disgrace who gives a shit about your opinion and when i see douches likes you i usually turn the other way as do many others in society because you are not worth a waste of oxygen to even make comments toward your everyday stupid pointless and probably extremely liberal thoughts

    275. Didn’t like it initially but grew on me after repeated listens. Its a good album. I don’t understand why people on this site are hating on these dudes. It’s ridiculous. Not sure if they really dislike SH’s music or they just jumping on the bandwagon.

    276. 4.5 and riddled with criticism? What kinda fucked up review is this? That being said, I found heaps of this album annoying, and some nuggets of gold as well. Average as. More listenable than alot of shit out these days that fans drool over.

      1. haha…then your hip hop knowledge sucks…

go back and listen to your soulja boy greatest hits…TWOOOOO CHAINNSSSSSSSSSS

    277. It seemed like they were trying there best to get a line here and there with these beats. It’s sad. These are lyricists. The beat should be in the background not the other way around. With these overdone beats I can barely here the little rhyming that’s on this album. I guess I’ll just stick with the “On the house” mixtape for my lyricism fix…

      1. You nailed it. That was what I was thinking when I listened to this album for the first time. It was a week or 2 ago, so I forgot that thought. Well said.

      1. at one in their careers each of these guys were supposed to be the future. as a group i don’t see that changing. they’re all in their 30’s now.

    278. The problem is these nigs overhyped their ourselves. The album is what I call taster choice. They did this album for a wider scope. When I first heard album, I thought it was weak but it gets better and it’s an album that grows on u. Too bad in the microwave age of hiphop, albums don’t grow on ppl anymore. For all the ppl calling the album wack where:

      1 – intro – no problem
      2 – our house – my shit
3 – coffin – ok lyrics dope they ride beat well, busta hook soso
4 – Throw that – don’t care for it but wife loves this song so it did what it was suppose to do in mine. If tyga, wale, big sean did this song, ya would say it’s a hit
      5 – Hammer Dance – my shit
      6 – Get up – my shit
      7 – My life – my shit
      9 – Flip a Bird – my shit
10 – Throw a away – ok don’t care for swizz hook but they trying to get strip club play, why hate?
11 – Rescue Me – ok nothin special
12 – Frat House – ok nothin special
13 – Goodbye – Classic should have been 2nd single
14 – Park it Sideways ok
      15 – Die – my shit
      16 – Our House – my shit
      17 – Asylum – ok nothin special
18 – Walk of Shame – nice record
      19 – Other Side – my shit
20 – Place to be – good record

Was I expecting a better album yes, did I get my money worth with this album and the mixtape yes! Your thoughts!

      1. Tyga, Wale, and Big Sean does NOT equal Slaughterhouse. The fact that it would’ve been a hit if they did the song is the problem; why the fuck is Slaughterhouse trying to do a song like that? And if I want to hear a strip club song, I’ll go put on 2 Chainz or some shit like that. NOT Slaughterhouse.

This kind of mindstate is the fucking problem with hip-hop; this Armchair Exec. mentality, where it’s like “Who cares if they’re trying to sell out? That’s what everyone else is doing!” Who cares? I care. I actually bought their first CD when it dropped, before the hypewagon went off the wheels. Yes, actually purchased the CD in a record store. Instead of worrying about catering to these fickle-ass hype heads, they shoulda stuck to what they were good at. That’s where 99% of my favorite rappers stopped being my favorite rappers. Nas barely recovered from the “Nastradamus” fiasco; think about when Mobb Deep fucked up (I’ll help you; that wack ass 112 collabo); what about Wiz Khalifa (not one of my favorites, but Rolling Papers was a perfect example, compared to Kush & OJ)? Don’t get me started on Lupe. 50 Cent was about to put out a dance album. 50 CENT! Fuck this shit. I’m gonna go listen to some Gladys Knight & The Pips and try to forget this mess.

      2. I have to agree with the both of you on the part of “what if” and “if they did” it would make a difference in both part..my thing is..name another group/artist whoever that actually mixes shit up? What they’re proving here that, they can do shit like everyone else and more..there are more lyrical than 95% of the rap game and if they’re trying to catch the audience that are listening to stupid hooks and stupid lyrics with a beat that make their feet bounce? why not captivate that audience and convert them to slaughterhouse hearingslaves? I don’t have anything wrong to say about the album personally because they do have a reason in which why they felt like this would be a great album, not only they have records to keep the fan like “oh shit” but they have records to also collect more audience that are not slaughterhous friendly/fan or w/e…this is an important record do I want them to continue to do this? maybe couple more records to keep that new fan wave coming, but also welcome them to that side that everyone been away from which pure lyrics, meaning and/or substantial stuff..so yea..think about it that way plain and simple quit being a fan and a hater..just think about the business aspect about it..now WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO MAKE MONEY AND FEED YOUR KIDS?

    279. Weird review. Seems like the author wrote it, but his boss or whatever gave the rating. It doesn’t read like a 4.5 at all.

These guys have great individual talent, but I still don’t think they craft songs well as a unit. There’s some dope songs on the album, but there is a bunch I have trouble making all the way through. Way too many corny hooks.

Em’s fingerprints are on this album a little too much. He should never go near a studio again unless he’s rhyming. I found the production to be mechanical, plastic with no soul. The lack of soul you kinda expect from Em, but there’s only few songs on this you can effortlessly nod your head to. The album has no cohesive sound (as the reviewer mentioned). It sounds more like a polished mixtape.

    280. Had they trimmed the fat as far as the bullshit cuts like “Throw That” “Frat House” “Park it Sideways” it would be a 4.5 but right now i’m giving it a 4…

It could’ve been more cohesive had they just stuck to the introspective records they have like “Goodbye” and sprinkle more bangers like “Get Up”. Then maybe it would satisfy some of the core audience’s tastes…

    281. This album was a huge disappointment to me. The beat selection was poor, and a lot of the songs seemed to cater towards a more “commercial” sound, which is the last thing I wanted to hear from Slaughterhouse. I don’t know, I only listened to it once, so I’m gonna give it another chance. But my initial impressions were that it was extremely disappointing. Also, I thought Eminem said that he was going to sit back and let them do their thing; so why does it feel like Eminem’s version of Slaughterhouse?

      1. Not even the lyrics and rhyming was almost perfect the beats coulda been better but it was still good! get the fuck outta here u radio listenin hoe get back to ur wacka! lmao

    282. This is a solid album, but not the hip hop savior album people were expecting, yes this is more mainstream orientated but of course that was gonna happen there on a major, the lyricism is still there it’s just more subtle than “lyrical murderers” the beats are ok, not great but there are some bangers on there, would’ve been good to get a loud noises type song with eminem and a song with yelawolf. I rate this 4/5 best songs are goodbye our house hammerdance get up rescue me and our way

    283. Dope album. I took the mixtape and made my own definitive SH album with some added extras:

      01. Back the Fuck Up
      02. On the House
      03. Our House
      04. Throw That
      05. Hammer Dance
      06. Get Up
      07. My Life
      08. Throw it Away
      09. Flip A Bird
      10. Rescue Me
      11. Good-bye
      12. The Other Side
      13. Gone
      14. Where Sinners Dwell
      15. Frat House
      16. Walk of Shame
      17. All on Me
      18. See Dead People
      19. Juggernauts
      20. Weight Scale
      21. Die
      22. Asylum
      23. Park it Sideways
      24. Who I Am
      25. Coming Home
      26. Our Way
      27. Place to Be
      28. Truth or Truth Pt. 1

      Bonus Tracks:

      29. Session One
      30. 2.0 Boys
      31. Monsters in my Head
      32. Furiously Dangerous
      33. Move On (Remix)

I only took out a few tracks like Coffin, (horrible hook, no Busta verse) the intro and interlude, the solo effort by Royce, and that track featuring Freeway (not that that dude bothers me too much, I just didn’t want ANOTHER song about Sucka MC’s – I think they’ve done 3 so far…..)

Anyway, hoping for that solo Crooked I effort now. Gotta say I still think he’s the best in the group, but it’s getting harder to separate the rest of them in terms of individual greatness. Royce, Joey & Joell all put up good shit on this album, just not enough to overshadow The Boss.

    284. Worst album I have heard this year. Seriously the beats were terrible and the hooks were worse. Skyler grey and eminem equals pop. Keep skyler grey away from your music. And eminem seriously is like the hip hop backstreet boy or male britney spears. Until slim shady comes back and the eminem who made the slim shady lp or Marshall matters lp comes back Keep HIM AWAY FROM YOUR MUSIC. Terrible album. If I wanna listen to pop music I will put on MTV.

    285. This album was the biggest let down of my entire life as a hip-hop fan. The only release that could outdo this is if Jay Electronica comes out as commercial sounding as this album did. The beat selection made me so sad that I wanted to cry for these talented lyricists. The first Slaughterhouse album had feeling and passion behind it and the beats were moving. This on the other hand was garbage and did not fit who they were and why we loved them to begin with. Wow I expected more from my favorite mc’s, C’mon Marshall did Jimmy Iovine make you create pop for these dudes or what?

    286. Mixtape is harder…the album is more artistic….I think the one problem with the album is sequencing but the songs are all solid….they did need darker production but I think that’s where some of the mixtape cuts like “Gone” come in (which probably needed sample clearance before the album deadline)…4/5

    288. OK I WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW THAT YOUR STUPID FOR JUDGING WHAT YOU CANT DO! UNTIL YOU CAN OUTRAP NAS,LUPE,JAY-Z,EMINEM,SLAUGHTERHOUSE, TECH N9NE, ETC., YOU CANT SAY SHIT! DONT JUDGE. I THINK EVERYTHING THEY DO IS GREAT BECAUSE I (OR YOU) WILL NEVER BE HALF THE MC THAT ANY OF THESE TALENTED PEOPLE HAVE GROWN TO BE. CRITIQUE THAT.

      1. Just cuz somebodys not an mc dont mean they cant say what their opinion is of an mc. thats what the comment section is for. everybody like different shit.

    289. Great album it’s gotten great reviews everywhere from people who understand music ..for a commercial release and that’s not a diss how some fools would take it as they went so hard lyrical while still putting together good artistic music

      1. ya ppl dumb bro these guys are more lyrical and so heavy on metaphors and word play its disgusting …if rappers like wayne and ross and all these corny guys these clowns are saying r better then slaughter then hip hop is dead bunch of nothing with out slaughterhouse and EM there is no hiphop and fab of course he is very clever with his word play besides that u have nothing … LOL sh with out even trying is better group then wu tang LOL get the fuck out of hear with that dumb shit who cares about there sales if they did if EM really did care about the sales u better believe em dre and rosenburg would of maid sure of that what SH did with this album is show ppl how to do mainstream type music but still be lyrical and dumb down or sell out LOLOLOL get of the wayne train bitches and support some real hip hop if ur not feeling this album then u dont know what hip hop is REAL hip hop i mean

    290. 1st cd was way more lyrical and they seemed hungrier. This CD is very well put together. It will help them sell more CD’s. These guys deserve to be successful. They all have had so-so solo careers, even Royce. He has talent on par with emimen, lyrically. So glad this group was formed. The Roots is by far the greatest. Slaughterhouse is 2nd. Wu-Tang is 3rd.

      1. Slaughterhouse better than Wutang? Based on what exactly? Lmao!! Slaughterhouse is cool, but they could never make a 36 Chambers or Wutang Forever. Also none of Slaughter’s solo work is touching OB4CL, Ironman, Liquid Swords, Tical, Return to the 36, Supreme Clientelle…etc. Slaughterhouse has a very very long way to go to top Wutang.

    291. Got the cd but only listened to a few songs. Ashame it only sold about 50,000 the first week. that aint lookin too good especialy divided by four. Theyre better off trying solo careers or adding eminem to the group. It sound just like an eminem cd anyway judging by what i heard so far.

    292. 1. Curtains Up (skit)
      2. I Will Not Lose (Produced by Just Blaze)
      3. Problem (Produced by Eminem, co. Jeff Bass)
      4. Shadow Boxing (Produced by Dr. Dre, co. Mel-Man)
      5. The Factory (Produced by Mr. Porter)
      6. Paul (skit)
      7. Run For Your Life (Produced by Eminem, co. Jeff Bass)
      8. The God of Rap (Produced by Dr. Dre, co. Mark Batson)
      9. Nothing Remains feat. Royce da 5’9″ (Produced by DJ Premier)
      10. Ken Kaniff (skit)
      11. Do Not Disturb (Produced by DJ Khalil)

      Deluxe
      21. Surgery (Produced by Eminem, co. Luis Resto)
      22. Different (Produced by Eminem)
      23. Anti-American Graffiti feat. Slaughterhouse & Yelawolf (Produced by DJ Khalil)

      1. haha not gonna lie if that track list came out the game would explode absolutely insane.. we can only hope..as unlikely as it is haha

    293. I did not like this album at all. 4.5 is highly overrated IMHO. I am a big fan of the group but this album was not a Slaughterhouse album, sounded more like an Eminem album. I like Em, but his albums do not get heavy rotation in my house, in fact I don’t know too many people that do. I like the mixtape better, and that is not saying much. Hip-Hop DX, terrible review.

    294. lmao @ backpacker faggots hatin on the album because its “too mainstream” cuz the beats dont sound like shit and have actual production quality.

god forbid they rap about money or some shit. clearly not lyrical enough for you nerd ass rap nerds who only wanna hear battle shit. go listen to canibus, faggots

      1. that is a real comical statement. you are criticizing people labeling them backpackers since they don’t like this record. What does that make you? a mere groupie.

slaughterhouse has never been a hated group, and most of the disappointed people are fans. fans naturally tend to more open to the creative approach of their favorite artists.

this album was just too boring and is missing that great album feel. people have a legitimate beef because real talk, this album is ok, it is not 4.5 worthy album. people will forget about it by halloween.

    295. Ok. So I actually bought this cd. Regretful. Really the only hype song is Hammer Dance. Throw it away is a good party tune. That’s about it.

I don’t expect these masters to make radio music. I expect them to rip mics like they did on the EP. Who thinks of these guys as anything but lyricists?

Hip-hop needs more emphasis on flow and wordplay and this was in my opinion a wasted opportunity.

I hope they get dropped from Shady 2.0. They might make better music.

      2/5

    296. first off if any of u watched the interviews, this album was to show people they can a mainstream album, the one thing people say they cant do. thats why they u a mixtape an a ablum and people still talking stupid. shouts out to slaughterhouse.

    297. VERY WELL WRITTEN ARTICLE. A lot of truth, sad but true about the reality Shady Records artists face. I am not gonna buy the album bcuz honestly I think it sucks. That’s not saying Slaughterhous sucks, but the album definitely sucks. A few of their mixtape tracks before and after Bad Meets Evil were hotter and more fun to listen to. I feel like they didn’t step up to the plate or Eminem didn’t manage the album well enough. Eminem’s features on the album from what I heard are whack. Is Yelawolf on the album? Well I’ll be waiting to hear Eminem’s next project. But I think hes falling off with his skill. Is that possible? Yes even the great Eminem can flop and he’s probably realizing now with the feedback hes getting about his last several tracks which have been whack since Recovery. Bad Meets Evil was borderline whack too. Eminem is just immature and his rhyming is fast and crude but it lacks artistic appeal and there’s no heart or character in his voice it’s really fake sounding. They’re just another group and shady is just another artist in a huge rap industry that is delusional and entirely out of focus and out of touch with itself and certainly not in touch with hiphop roots and the elements.

    298. Funny how this is the most discussed album and has the highest rating on this site and then did like 13,000 this week @kazamm you like the two garbage songs on this album stop talking about lyricism your listening to the repetitive pointless hooks anyway

      1. If you read what I said I bought the CD so I’m one of those #s. I’m disappointed is all. I’m allowed to express an opinion in a comment section.

How do you or anon know to speak of my taste in music? Read what I wrote, don’t project all of your prejudices onto me thanks!

      1. ya bro shit is fire there just to nasty its ashame ppl clouded by the garbage on radio just like budden said “the radio is crime scene the masses are the hostages”

    299. Metaphors? Go and read some real books and learn what metaphor is. About the word plays: Ok, not bad but they don’t make this album good. It’s really an average album. I’d like to listen a D12 album but Em is not trying to do something for D12. Because mighty slaughter house is more important than his old poor group. And I saw that editor gave 3 to Madchild’s album. Is that make sense?

    300. I’m not some self-righetous pop-aphobe so I bought and actually enjoyed the album. Lyricism was present, good production, Eminem did his thing without being too over the place and the Outro(Our Way) had some good bars, underrated track.

    301. Shady 2point0 is 0 for 2
Trunk Muzic was ten times better than Radioactive and the Slaugherhouse debut was better than this.
      @HHDX
When I first saw the score of 4.5 I thought it was a mistake because I agreed with your review. Explain to me how an album with skippable tracks, choruses that get old, that is overly influenced by shady and is lacking direction get a 4.5? The review even suggests that they can do better and yet they get 4.5. Get out of here.

    302. Amazingly enough, there are still some silly-ass rappers out there who attempt to carve an identity for themselves by stoking the dead coals of the coastal rap wars of the pre-millennium tension. Despite the brutal lessons we’ve learned, they can’t help but hide behind the monochromatic local-scene identification, the pre-packaged fuck-the-world geo-team mentality ideal that claimed the lives of two of the greatest rhymespitters of all time.

Sometimes, to establish a firm divide between Then and Now, you only need one true core dynamic. One group to eliminate all that silly old-school bullshit, not with words or posturing or non-regional fashion, but by existing as representations of all zones – with a skill set to stand against the hardest fire of criticism. This, of course, brings us to Slaughterhouse, a rap collective pulling strength from Los Angeles (Crooked I), from Detroit (Royce da 59), New York (Joell Ortiz) and even the Garden State (Joe Budden). After a searing debut, a mentorship under Eminem and a tremendous preceding mixtape in its own right (On The House), the dynamic flowmasters arrive in full color on their sophomore LP and major label debut through Shady/Interscope, titled Welcome To: Our House.

There’s a reason the flowmaster quartet don’t mind so much that the album leaked a week before release. In fact, it’s the only reason an artist should feel any sense of satisfaction on the cat escaping the bag ahead of schedule: the reactions are hugely favorable. Sharper production, a barrage of guest MCs and knob-crushers including Busta Rhymes, Cee-Lo, Swizz Beatz, No I.D., Boi-1da, Mr. Porter and T-Minus, among others, brings a widely varied collection that early detractors have claimed presents a highly commercially-ambitious design. Bringing the producers into the group’s Detroit studio for each session rather than importing patchwork tracks over email was essential to the album’s cohesion, but a major unifier in the sound was the fact that all group members were on hand to lay down verses rather than dropping in on a piecemeal platform. The team spirit carries through the speakers clearly, buoyed by none other than Marshall Mathers in his most populated set of guest appearances on an album.

Others have said that Eminem’s presence and influence on the record (he may as well be the group’s fifth member at this point) sometimes feels like a wrestling match for control of the wheel. They’re right, but don’t act like that’s a bad thing; Slaughterhouse are simply covering all the bases to ensure dramatic impact on all fronts, with a production level and consistency of quality that far eclipses their debut. With such a varied base of cooks in the kitchen, the spectral design is more than understandable – what’s important is that through quality of production and consistency of caliber, the variation is a strength rather than a weakness.

The furiously biting Flip a Bird delivers on the spine of a sinister minimalist beat with an MVP hip-check verse by Budden before Royce sets the blogger vengeance on edge, an entirely off-the-grid track in commercial terms that sets an even balance with its radio-bait predecessor “Rescue Me”. Here, Skylar Grey drops in with her trademark gorgeous ghost-haunt drip as Alex Da Kid frames a frightening track around some equally dangerous lyricwork.

Breathless runner “Throw It Away” brings a Swizz Beatz feature, produced by Mr. Porter with a banging beat and some classic Ortiz and Budden one-liners – though the chorus repetition suffers slightly. “Coffin,” meanwhile, is a perfectly fitting ring for Busta Rhymes’ tasmanian-gorilla rampage, but the real slug comes through on “Goodbye,” the fourth official single from the album. Produced by Boi-1-da, the jaw hits and bounces off the linoleum under a piano synth design as the narrative lays out Joes miscarried twins, Crooked Is family cancer and other deep-diary confessions. The sampled hook sings Goodbye, so long farewell, but its not the end of the chapter before carrying on.

A downright overwhelming album, Welcome To: Our House is brimming with the kind of masterful wordplay befitting the Shady label head and reputations of the four proper members. Eminem said Hip Hop needs this album, and in the sense of pure artistic aggression matching commercial design, he’s absolutely right. The typical nonsense modern rap cliches are few and far between here on Slaughterhouse’s second full-feast offering, with the group opting instead for evolved flow and fifth-gear intensity from start to finish. It’s a fine house, and we’re happy to be welcome in it.

    303. Just because the album didn’t live up to it’s unreachable expectations doesn’t mean it’s a bad album.. 5 stars, go Slaughterhouse

    304. What kinda editor is he? Mr.Porter is a badass producer and he’s just talkin like he’s a freshman. It’s not his best production! There is no need to talk about that funny 4.5!

    305. I’ve been waiting for this album for a loooong time. Didn’t disappoint whatsoever. I’m a little bummed they got shafted on their banger “My Life” man when crook starts rapping on that, I have to bang my head like he does on the video.

    306. First of all the album is sick! Any of yall who think its not, should lay some bars on us, and let us hear you do better. Second of all, these dudes all have solo careers aside from the group. The fact that they were able to come together and create such chemistry is incredible. Lastly, album sales don’t define the artist success. They probably got more illegal downloads than your favorite rapper and their live shows are packed. Yall broke ass ninjas who cant rhyme, but want to criticize need to shut the fuck up. Flippin yall the BIRD!!

    307. XXXX and a 1/2?!?!?!

      SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

NO DOUBT. Like that dude said down there, Eminem owns this site.

You guys hurt me with this obviously paid-for rating. Sheesh.

And y’all say ‘hiphop is dying’. WHO KILLED IT?!

    308. Lyrically this is an almost perfect album. Each MC brings it to the table, but it’s everything else that didn’t bring it’s part to the table. I hate to say it, but Eminem’s darkness (that only works for Eminem albums) and the label’s obvious strong arm was the anchor of this album. The first was leaps and bounds better than this album in every way!

    309. 3.5 to me. I love each member of SH individually but the chemistry between them all is debatable. To me, each rapper sounds restrained, almost on a leash. I’ve heard all their solo projects and each is a beast, spitting 32, 64 & sometimes longer barred verses. Hearing them contribute a ’16’ and sometimes less is almost like a tease to us ‘rap heads’ who wanna hear that boom bap lyrical wordplay. I agree with the review in that the project lacks direction. I counted at least 5 tracks that are skipable out the gate. “Throw that”?? To me, WACK! I at least expected better beats on some of the tracks. Dre?? WTF are you doing these days?? I gave the first SH album a 3 out of 5. This one gets a 3.5. Still ALOT of room for improvement as a collective. Personally, I prefer each of their solo’s.

    310. Dope Album !!! Dont know why Everybody hating! Sometimes Jordan scores 46 point sometimes he scores 16 – he is still Jordan! The Album ist dope its on Point! Lyrics are sharp, top notch! Of course it sounds different than a lot of other stuff they did but THANK GOD IT DOES! Because if they want to continue to exist they have to make some money ! These guys gave away so much quality high level rap to the listeners, I dont know what everybody is cryin about! be thankful and support their music! they give you 116 tracks in a year – and you love 100 of these 116 ! The 16 tracks which actually HELP them because they pay their BILLS are the tracks you dont like that much – well you know what ?! BUY IT OR FUCK YOURSELF for being unsupportive! Simple as that

    311. Its nothing wrong with trying to broaden your brand. But when you sacrifice or alter the integrity of your Art just to cater to an audience that wasn’t checking for you from the rip, what does that say for your Brand? Also the core fans who are alienated, The ones who supported what you were doing in the beginning. Who gave you word of mouth promo and copped multiple copies because they identified with your movement. Everything ain’t for Everybody!!

      1. that’s decent, given their comfy niche of lyrical rap. the only people that sell over 100K these days are Jay, Ye, Wayne, Ross, and pop-rappers.

      2. Laughterhouse, you are pretty funny. But this is not surprising. Many rappers, and musicians are no longer able to pull the units they might have done last decade or the decades before. You must know thaat records don’t sell in huge units anymore, people are downloading, and leaking etc etc.

    312. Except for 2 or 3 songs, the album was FIRE! Keep hating,Young Money and Maybach music fans. This is what a real hip hop crew looks like.

    313. bad meets evil album, radioactive and WTOH, got them all, shady records, the most lyrical crew about right now!! just wating on 50’s album and he’s uped his game! cant wait! 😉 fuck mmg and young money the artists on shay are killing it ryt now!

    314. The Punchlines are sick, too hot to handle. By Far the best album of ’12, wanted to give it a 4 coz the haters who gave it a 1 dropped the ranking so I am givin it a 5 to boost.
      Dope!

    315. Straight Garbage,,,,,,

This might be the most overrated group in years. Are they better than most shit on radio yes but to say they are a super group of real hip hop is a joke. They are Eminem dick riders with poppy beats and no lyrical substance. I dare you to read the lyrics in text. Shut out the beats and flow, just lyrics! Fucking wack. These guys have gone nowhere in hip hop in all the years they been around and that trend wont change..

      1. The only true super group is Fu-Schnickens. SH is a B Team…this album would’ve been better last century…a time when Eminem still mattered.

      2. No substance? Goodbye, otherside, rescue me, our house all had substance. Don’t be ignorant jus coz u don’t feel em.. Listen more, u might learn more from slaughterhouse. Straight killers

      3. whack lyrics? “Sorry i treated ur girl reckless, i fed her a squirrels breakfast, she left with a pearl necklace”, ur out of ur element go back 2 spice gurls

      4. Eminem dick riders? Really? I don’t think so. Em and Royce were doing shit before, and Royce has ghostwritten for a number of rappers today and in the past, independent of Eminem. I don’t see your point here. Praising Eminem does not mean dick riding him. Although, judging by production, I would say that Slaughterhouse need to be better advised.

      1. Lyrically, but not in terms of production. I felt the production was a massive let down for this group. They need to be better advised. Too much trying to latch onto current trend, with, what i think from my listening, produced embarrassing results towards the end of the album.

    316. This albums sucks shit. And I’m a fan of nearly everyone in the group. Their free mixtape was a million times better. Weedplate status.

    317. “The Slaughter (Intro)” (Produced by Eminem) The album opens with a nice dark sounding intro full of chainsaws and screams as well as the definition of an MC.

“Our House” feat. Eminem & Skylar Grey (Produced by Alex da Kid) This is probably one of my favourite songs on the album. The production and lyrics on here are great with nice and dark sounding synths as well as hard hitting drums. The concept for this record is dope and Skylar Grey sounds really great on here too. All around this is a powerful song to open the album with.

“Coffin” feat. Busta Rhymes (Produced by Hit-Boy, co. Eminem) “Coffin” drops in with hard drums and hard lyrics to match. I can tell that this song will sound dope in the club and based off of my experiences with seeing both Busta Rhymes and Slaughterhouse live, this song would be an amazing live performance. The only thing I’m really not feeling on here is the detuned synth on the hook but it doesnt ruin the whole song for me.

Throw That feat. Eminem (Produced by T-Minus, co. Eminem) This is Slaughterhouse’s strip club song (with a fun vibe to it) and the production on it is really dope to me. I like hearing Slaughterhouse on different sounding production other than just grimy beats. I think the vocal effects on here are dope and the synth work is nice too. Throw in a catchy chorus and melodies and you have “Throw That”.

“Hammer Dance” (Produced by AraabMuzik, add. Eminem) The first single from the album still goes hard to me; the grimy sounding synth melodies and drums fit the lyrics of this song perfectly (especially with they way Joell kicks the song off). No complaints here, this has that nice head nodding feel to it and would definitely make a dope club record to get you hyped up.

“Get Up” (Produced by NO I.D.) The vocal intro to this song is dope and prepares you for the upcoming lyrical onslaught. The beat on here is really dope with a chopped up guitar sample with some vocal cuts as well that give it a rock edge and motivational feel. I really like the sound of Slaughterhouse on guitar tracks and they match perfectly on here. I really like the change ups on here and the way the artists play off of the vocal chops in the beat is dope too.

“My Life” feat. Cee Lo Green (Produced by StreetRunner, co. Sarom, co. Eminem) The production on here is great and the lyrics are dope too. I like the celebratory feel of this song; it captures that “life is good” feel that Nas talked about on his album. Cee Lo sounds good on the hook and the synths and drum patterns on here will definitely keep your attention the whole time. This record would definitely be good for performances and radio play as well. I like the fact that this song celebrates where the members of Slaughterhouse are now compared to where they were in the past.

“We Did It (Skit)” (Produced by Eminem) Another dark sounding skit that plays perfectly into the next song.

“Flip A Bird” (Produced by Black Key Beats, co. Zukhan, co. Eminem) I really like the sample flip on this record and the concept that goes with it. The beat on here is really dope and finds the members talking about their path before music as well as where they’ll be if the music doesn’t work out for them. I think maybe some extra vocals on the hook from Slaughterhouse would have been dope but I don’t have any real complaints. The vocal samples on the hook work fine and are real catchy and smooth and the verses have a laid back smooth vibe as well.

“Throw It Away” feat. Swizz Beatz (Produced by Mr. Porter, add. Eminem) This song goes hard and would probably sound great in the club or your car. The beat is dope but this is probably my least favourite song on the album; I’m not really feeling the hook too much and the song doesn’t really grab me here but the beat works nice for Slaughterhouse. I probably wouldn’t skip this song right away but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it either.

“Rescue Me” feat. Skylar Grey (Produced by Alex da Kid) The production here is great with hard drums and a grimy synth as well as some personal lyrics to match. The hook melodies and vocals are really dope here too; I really like this song as a whole from the production to the lyrics. The beat here almost has a dark amped up feel to it but still leaves enough room for the deep lyrics, I just wish that this song were longer because it’s so dope.

“Frat House” (Produced by T-Minus, co. Eminem) I like this record a lot and if you’re a fan of “Hammer Dance” youll probably like “Frat House” too; there’s some really dope hard drums and eerie synths and guitars throughout the beat. This record will definitely get you hyped up with its head-nodding feel and dope lyrics.

“Goodbye” (Produced by Boi-1da, co. Eminem, add. Matthew Burnett) “Goodbye” is an emotional and deeply personal record for Slaughterhouse with emotion stirring pianos and choirs throughout the beat. I really enjoy this as a song and the beat alone is really dope to zone out and reflect to. I have no complaints on this record; it’s definitely one of my favourites on the album.

“Park It Sideways” (Produced by Kane Beatz, co. JMIKE, co. The Mad Violinist, add. Eminem) The beat on “Park It Sideways” has an inspirational feel to it similar to “My Life” and I’m really vibing with it. The way Royce’s verse transfers to Budden’s is dope and I really like the production here; it almost has an epic feel but with a positive and happy vibe.

“Die” (Produced by Mr. Porter) “Die” opens with a dope vocal sample introducing the members of Slaughterhouse before the dark guitars of the beat kick in. This record has a hyped up feel to it with some really dope change-ups in the production (especially when the strings come in) as well as the hard lyrics that we expect from Slaughterhouse.

“Our Way (Outro)” (Produced by Boi-1da, co. The Maven Boys, add. Eminem) The dark beat on this record is great and works perfectly as an outro track for welcome to: Our House. The lyrics here find Slaughterhouse celebrating the fact that they made their own way into the music industry despite anyone who criticized and doubted them. I really like the string and piano melodies on this record as well as the drum patterns and the chorus. I’m not really feeling the brass that comes in during Crooked I’s verse but this is a great outro song for the standard version of the album and just a dope record overall.

“Asylum” feat. Eminem (Produced by Eminem, add. Luis Resto) The first bonus track on the deluxe version of the album has a very simple but dope vibe on the production along with an Eminem chorus. I like this song a lot as a whole as well as the concept to it but I was expecting a really epic beat for some reason (think “Ghost” by Tupac). Regardless, the beat here works well for Slaughterhouse and the extra synth effects and background ambiances that come in throughout the beat are dope.

“Walk of Shame” (Produced by StreetRunner, co. Sarom, co. I.L.O, co. Eminem) I’m not really feeling the beat on this record; some of the synths get annoying but I really like the snare rolls, guitars and the sampled vocals. The song itself is dope and comical (in a good way) as well but the production isn’t holding me on this song (although it gradually grew on me a little as the song played on).

“The Other Side” (Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League) “The Other Side” is another deep and personal record and I think the production here is great. The guitars, strings and synths all blend together well with some hard drums to match. Overall I really like this song and have nothing bad to say about it.

“Place to Be” featuring B.o.B (Produced by Kane Beatz, co. JMIKE, co. Eminem) The production on “Place to Be” is very unique and original sounding with some epic synths and string hits. The positive vibe on this song is dope and B.o.B does a nice job on it. At first I wasn’t feeling the beat here until the synths kicked in but then I heard how the track built up and came together nicely. I think this is a dope record to end the deluxe version of the album with.

Overall, I think welcome to: Our House is a very well balanced album and definitely does not disappoint. There were a few things I wasnt feeling on one or two songs but overall the album as a whole is really dope and a great piece of work. I think that open-minded fans of Slaughterhouse and all around good music will really enjoy this album. However, if you only expect Slaughterhouse to record 15-minute freestyles to dark beats then this is not the album for you. I plan on having welcome to: Our House on repeat for a while, especially since the production really is solid (both the beats and the concepts) and the lyrics live up to my expectations as well. I give welcome to: Our House a 4.5 rating because I thoroughly enjoyed the album (especially the diversity) and definitely think it was worth purchasing.

The way Royce’s verse transfers to Budden’s is dope and I really like the production here; it almost has an epic feel but with a positive and happy vibe.

    321. Look, I’m a fan of all these fools since way back and they SEALED IT for me when I heard that 16 minute D.O.A. freestyle. I waited for this album for months and months! When I finally got it, I played it through a few times, and even though I agree with what the review says, I don’t agree with the amount of stars. So many tracks were skippable, a LOT of commercial/mainstream influence, and like it said, Em’s influence (which isn’t necessarily a BAD thing, but I notice rappers always try to mimick Em’s quirky-dark-crazy humor about being sadistic/psycho/poppin’ pills, i.e. Joell’s opening line on the track “Asylum”). There’s not too many tracks I can really say I would play over and over, not so many memorable lines as it stated here (best line comin’ from Crooked on Hammer Dance about bodying your audio), but what can you expect with a super-power group like this? I’m sure it’s difficult to harness the power. Unfortunately, that means nothing when trying to rate the album based on the overall package. I actually like their first album better.

      1. I don’t think that they are trying to mimick Em’s subject matters- the members of D12, for example, were always like that. But you are right. Towards the end of the album is where the production goes tits up. Some of the tracks towards the end when I was reviewing it myself were awfully produced, and you wondered about how that had been allowed to stay as the final copy. And if production is shit, you are less likely to listen to all the lyrics. You are right about the lack of quotable material, too. I think they should have slowed things down a bit- not necessarily made the verses less complex, but kept in mind the audience. Skylar Grey’s appearnaces were good though.

    322. this is a terrible review. and this is a mediocre album at best. They got this better then Nas- Life is Good? wtf is that shit. These niggas dumbed down their bars, picked some horrible ass beats, corny ass hooks. I am a fan of all these dudes. I bought their first album. Have all of royces albums. But i will not spend money on this overproduced recovery mimicking shit stain of an album. Nuff said.

      1. mdh, I have to agree with you, although I think you have slightly exaggerated. However, on the topic of Recovery mimicking, you may be right. Did you notice that the chord progression for My Life is almost exactly the same to ‘You’re Never Over’ , by Eminem? And the producers for those songs are not even the same! How dumb is that?

    323. Shut Up they Lyrics Good Is the Beats That mess It Up Expected More
Better Beats Like Hammer Dance But i don’t matter I’m Still a Fan

    324. Some of the beats are terribly generic, especially towards the end of the album. Which is stupid, seeing, as the end should make you want to pick it up again. The lyricism, especially of Royce da 5’9 is excellent, though.

    325. I go to Slaughterhouse to hear aggressive MCs and lyricism. This album gave me four toned down MCs who are way below their own standers. Shady records putt these guys over generic beats and corny, sugary, choruses that they sound like crap over. I give 2 stars for Hammer Dance, and Coffin (and a good tape for compensation).

Slaughter on their debut and EP, are what I want them to be. This was radio bullshit

    326. Happiness and sadness (and all other emotions in between) are fused with this group’s tremendous verbal dexterity to create one of the year’s best albums.

The only real slip-up is “Rescue Me,” a three-and-a-half-minute-long piece of uninspired bitching and moaning, weakly supported by more of two-hit-wonder producer (“Love the Way You Lie” & “I Need a Doctor”) Alex da Kid’s tired horseshit.

The best song on the album, and this was difficult to pick, is… “Goodbye.” It belongs in my top five “awesome-but-sad-as-fuck” rap song list, just behind Bishop Lamont’s masterpiece “Home.”

Anyways, ultimately the album is dope as fuck and I would (and do) highly recommend it to all those who know what real hip-hop truly is.

    327. yeah, cuz songs about unexpected miscarriages, past and present pill addictions, references to alcoholism (i’m 24, and already been one year and a half sober from alcohol cuz it was hurting those I love, and myself), lyrical contemplations of suicide, and cumin on bitch’s faces is supposed to be “pop music”. except for rescue me, slaughterhouse brings it on every song.

also that Park It Sideways song is constantly played with full bass in the car pretty much cuz that beat and the hook are… MEANT to be constantly played w/ full bass in peoples’ cars.

Also, asides from Bishop Lamont’s brilliant song “Home” (which never fails to amaze me and yet fill me with sadness), I think that “Goodbye” is the second most depressing rap song of all time. yeah, sure, i’m gonna get hate for that, fuck it. the issue of losing a father figure i relate to deeply so when Budden raps similarly about it that shit makes me feel a little better like someone else i admire went through the same troubles.

in my honest opinion this is the second best album of the year, i’ve decided my top three can no longer be just a group, so I had to break it down: 1) goes to k. dot. 2) Slaughterhouse Our house, and 3) Game with Jesus Piece. Nas is number 4 and WT&DBlock are number 5.

    328. This album is great. Buy the deluxe edition 3 of the four bonus tracks are worth it. “walk of shame” is the not so good one. But overall this album is worth the money.

    329. I still play this album and their recent mixtape almost weekly. No reason to hate on thismusic, go listen to 2 Chainz or Chief Keef
