With the Shady Records compilation album Shady XV due out next week, a couple more leaked singles continued to make waves on the Internet this week. A much-talked about demo version of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” hit the web along with an explanation from Marshall that he doesn’t even remember recording it. Eminem also enlisted his cypher cast of Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf for the big-name produced “Psychopath Killer” as well. Meanwhile, Pusha T surprised fans with a single with uncharacteristic production from Kanye West, again wondering out loud, “If the crown ain’t mine, tell me who am I behind?”
Elsewhere on the list Rick Ross pushed out his new single, Kendrick Lamar appeared to pay homage to Method Man in a Saturday Night Live performance, and Chicago rapper Tink showed out thanks to a plug from Timbaland.
Shady Records Releases “Lose Yourself” Demo
As the date for the release of Shady XV nears, earlier this week a clip of Eminem talking about the alternate version of “Lose Yourself” was released by his label. The demo echoes the same sentiment as the original but features a noticeably different chorus and flow from Em.
Describing the previously unreleased demo, Eminem admitted to forgetting all about the recording process.
“There was another version of that song that I don’t even remember recording,” he said. “I don’t remember where I was at when I recorded it. I don’t remember any of the first verse. I don’t remember. So he called me one day and told me about it, I was like, ‘What?’ He was like, ‘Remember the scratch version of “Lose Yourself?”’ I’m like, ‘No, I don’t.”
Pusha T’s “Lunch Money” Produced By Kanye West
While it’s unclear if the single signals the release of more new music or a full project from Push, the younger Thornton brother’s latest features some electronic flavor from Kanye West.
Speaking with MTV News about the track, Pusha revealed that Kanye wasn’t just behind the beat, but the concept of the song as well.
“The concept for ‘Lunch Money,’ it was a concept Kanye West had,” Pusha T said. “And he knows that when he does these unorthodox tracks that I’m probably gonna be the first one up to bat when it comes to tackling it cause just—My sensibility with those type of beats is like—that’s just what I’m attracted to. So, he played it for me and man, I just went at it. I just went at it.”
Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf, & Eminem Team Up On “Psychopath Killer”
With the All-Star production team of Boi-1da, The Maven Boys, and Just Blaze behind it, Eminem again drafted his Shady Records artists Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf for a lyric-heavy affair on “Psychopath Killer.”
Eminem spits his characteristically off-the-wall lines in his verse, rapping, “Now Catholics are panickin’ / ‘Cause I snapped back to my old antics and shenanigans / Dammit the pope’s mad again / Probably shouldn’t have ran up in the Vatican / With that mannikin singin’ / ‘Bagpipes from Baghdad’ again,” he raps.

Why haven’t you reviewed thestand4rd’s new LP? I’m just saying, the production was handled by Don McKinney (House of Balloons), and it has some extremely well-structured songs. You’d get a kick out of it.
