The Hip Hop Week In Review: 7/11/2011 – 7/16/2011

HipHopDX has begun weekly recaps of the happenings of Hip Hop, posted each Saturday. We’ll give you a condensed version of what took place in the previous week, so you can get your weekend fix from your favorite one-stop.

This week was defined by a veteran making a public criticism of a young star, Lil Wayne releasing a new mixtape, and a longtime Hip Hop affiliate making her big splash.

More Information On Clayton Hill, Luke Takes A Shot At Wiz Khalifa

Following last week’s exclusive interview with Illinois inmate Clayton Hill, who provided us with reports that he believes himself to be an accessory-after the fact in the 1997 murder of Notorious B.I.G., DX ran an additional conversation with Hill. Speaking with HipHopDX throughout the month of June, Hill claims he transported the murder weapon from the trigger-man, who Hill all-but-confirmed with longtime suspect Amir Muhammad to officials within the Nation of Islam. The full two-part feature may spark further interest from legal investigators into Biggie’s murder.

2 Live Crew’s Luke recently called out Wiz Khalifa over Amber Rose. In a blog, the southern Rap pioneer said that by his association with Rose, that the Pittsburgh emcee had “gotten soft.” Luke pointed to an array of his Rap peers who have been loyal to one woman in the past. However, Luke thinks that when Wiz, Memphitz or Soulja Boy date high-profile women associated with other male rappers, it’s bad. Wiz has yet to respond.

Lil Wayne Releases Sorry 4 The Wait

Lil Wayne delivered a new mixtape Sorry 4 The Wait . The Cash Money star is gearing up for his Tha Carter IV album – which may be his last, and followed the tradition of letting a promotional monster go to the masses. New songs flooded DX, and we even reviewed the work. What do you think about it?

Nikki Jean Charms With Black Thought & Lupe Fiasco On One Song

You heard her with Black Thought on Roots albums, and Lupe Fiasco albums. Now Pop vocalist Nikki Jean put both emcees on the same song, “A Million Star Hotel” . Dice Raw‘s partner in Nouveau Riche just released her Pennies In A Jar album, and is making a deep impression, especially with DX readers.

      1. Oh for real? Like we didn’t notice….don’t take that as an offense though you got the balance between real and fake hiphop and for once the writers on a damn blog aren’t bias so its all good.

    2. ON THIS SITE IVE ONLY SEEN ONE DECENT WEEK AND THAT WAS WITHOUT EMINEM. IT WAS NAS. PAST COUPLE WEEKS ITS BEEN CRAZY BAD.

    4. This site is getting crazy. I don’t mean DX’s fault either. I like to read comments and shit, but it seems like people just complain about the website they visit and participate in daily. I don’t get it. Word up DX for keeping the site going even though everyone claims to hate it. Damn, I’m on this site complaining about it (guess I’m a hypocrite.).
