Nas whetted the appetite of eager fans even more on Tuesday (August 18) by unveiling the King’s Disease tracklist.
The 14-song selection (entirely produced by Hit-Boy) sports a gamut of interesting features, including lyrical and singing contributions from Anderson .Paak, Big Sean, Charlie Wilson, Don Tolliver, Fivio Foreign and a reunion with his former supergroup The Firm.
“THE KING’S LIST,” the Mass Appeal co-owner dubbed the back cover art as he shared it with his nearly six million Instagram followers. He also dropped a fresh line of merch on his fan-favorite online store.
The album’s first single “Ultra Black” was released on Friday (August 14) and instantaneously spurned social media fervor with its dissing of one of the game’s biggest pop stars: “Sometimes I’m over-Black, even my clothes are black/Cash Money with the white tee and the soldier rag/We goin’ ultra-Black, unapologetically Black/The opposite of Doja Cat, Michael Blackson Black,” he spit on the first verse.
An unbothered Doja Cat later took to Instagram to sarcastically pretend she was offended but not much else.

Longtime Nas fans will note the current rendition of The Firm features original members AZ and Foxy Brown but Nas swapped Queensbridge stalwart Nature for another in Cormega. On his 2001 album Stillmatic (a few years after The Firm had dissolved), Nas dissed both Nature and Cormega via the song “Destroy & Rebuild,” ending his collaboration streak with them. In 2020, things have changed apparently.

Part of me is thinking this isn’t the real track list. I mean, a Firm reunion sounds almost too good to be true, especially since Nas, AZ and Mega haven’t worked with each other in years. But I’m still looking forward to this album. New Nas is always a great thing.
I saw on Instagram that Nas shouted out Mega and something about coming full circle. Mega responded by saying how grateful he was that him and Nas have now made peace and was honored to be on the project. Something to that effect. Check out my show. Nas is one rapper who sometimes makes some of the worst decisions. Here is an album that hardly showcases or promotes any of the talent he has on Mass Appeal. Yet he’s putting some new artistes on this album. How wise is that? Why not give your artists the chance to step up to the challenge. This is how he also relegated Queen’s Bridge rappers to the background whereas Brooklyn rappers were enjoying far more success because the greats over there weren’t as bigoted as he is.
Boy shut the F up! Damn… Nas can do what ever he wants to his album! Furthermore, Nas signed the artists to his label. What more do they want from him? 50 said the same thing about Lloyd Banks and Yayo. They need to go out there and get. And… on Nas promoting have you seen his Instagram of his artists.
I believe he has done features on many of his artists’ projects. He also promotes them on the label and via social media.
Either way, I look forward to this listen. I want to see how this album will differ from his other projects in theme and style.
