Havoc has teamed up with Prodigy’s protégé Flee Lord for a special album paying tribute to the late Mobb Deep legend. Released on Tuesday (December 22), In the Name of Prodigy includes 10 tracks and is entirely produced by Havoc, with guest appearances from Raekwon, Busta Rhymes, Conway The Machine, Big Twins, Ransom and more.
Flee Lord explains on the intro, “So me and Hav kicked it, we was like yo, ‘We gotta get to it,’ and it’s only right that we named it ‘In the Name of Prodigy.’ We gon’ send you off proper woe, I promise I’ma carry the torch. I brought legends with me… let’s go Hav. We on shit. R.I.P. P, you’ll never be forgotten woe.”
Havoc took to Instagram on Monday (December 21) to announce the project and share the cover art featuring an illustrated Prodigy.
“New body of work by @inf_mobb_flee produced by yours truly ‘In the Name of Prodigy,'” he wrote in the caption. “Honoring our brother P. Drops tonight, tap in. rip @prodigymobbdeep.”
Besides the production, Havoc spits a verse on the final track “Bound to Take Losses,” in which he pays tribute to Prodigy and Killa Black — his late brother who took his own life in the ’90s.
“No, I wouldn’t change shit if I could bring back time,” he raps. “All the fuckery and shootouts and I’m still alive/I’m lying, I’d bring back P and Killa B/Forever in my memory as I remember we.”
Queens native Flee Lord has enjoyed an impressive 2020 dropping a dozen projects, including the Pete Rock-produced The People’s Champ.
Havoc and Flee Lord previously linked up with Conway The Machine in September on “Juvenile Hell,” a song also featuring Lloyd Banks from the Griselda rapper’s From King to a GOD album. Conway and Flee Lord both came through with verses, while Havoc produced the track and provided the chorus.
In November 2019, Flee Lord spoke to Bandcamp about his close friendship with Prodigy after meeting him for the first time in 2008.
“We had a little after-hours spot in the Lower East Side that we would go chill at near my projects,” he said. “Me and P would be freestyling, and other rappers would come through. We’d just fuck around and freestyle, and continue drinking until the sun came up. At one point P was like, ‘Yo, I think you should rap,’ and that’s when Flee Lord came about.”

Now a close affiliate of Griselda, it was Prodigy who first introduced him to Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine in summer 2017, before the Mobb Deep rapper passed away on June 20 due to complications from sickle-cell anemia.
“I met them in the hospital when they were visiting P during the crisis he was going through,” Flee Lord said. “P had been talking about them, and he was like, ‘Yo, I think you need to meet these boys. You should pull up because they fire and y’all got that same sound. Who knows, maybe later on down the road, y’all could start working with each other.’”

Take nothing away from Prodigy as an MC since he was talented but him as a person, he was arrogant POS who has no heart or loyalty to the code of the streets. He did plenty of foul deeds that pissed off a lot of top ranking hittaz and continuously mocked and taunted all of them including their friends/families. We will always respect Havoc and Mobb Deep as a Crew but Prodigy we’ll never accept as really being a Queens Native after all he’s done.
