Lauryn Hill left fans less than impressed during a Toronto tour stop on Wednesday night (July 18).
The former Fugee, who was in Canada as part of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Tour, reportedly showed up over an hour late and left the stage after performing for 45 minutes.
According to Exclaim, Hill spent the majority of the concert criticizing her live band and tech crew, rushing through the 10 tracks she pumped out. Her set culminated with a rendition of Drake’s “Nice For What,” which samples Hill’s hit single, “Ex-Factor.”
Seething fans hit social media to vent about their frustrations regarding the show and many were mad at themselves for not knowing better. Hill has a history of showing up late to her concerts and people had no problem pointing that out.
The North American leg of Hill’s tour continues on July 29 in Saint Petersburg, Florida and wraps up on October 3 in New Orleans.

I didn’t want to hold her to her past BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I was skeptical hence why I didn’t buy those tickets for the July 29th concert. DEFINITELY won’t now. Feel bad for her cause I believe there may be some mental health issues not being addressed. 🙁 However, I don’t wait for folks to show up when I’m paying my hard earned money!

I’ve seen Lauryn hill twice and she was awesome both times, once on the miseducation tour and another time in like 2013 (I think). Most acts don’t start the show on time. When I saw Rihanna she was over an hour late and it was never reported. It seems that media loves to report every time she has a bad show but the media doesn’t do this to other artists. It’s like they’re out to get her or sumn?

I just recently attended the Miseducation concert. Was it the best concert i’ve seen? No! Was is the worst? Nope… i’ve seen far worse that Lauryn. I knew what to expect and I went anyway. Why… because i’ve wanted to see her for yrs but never got tix cause i only want to hear songs from that album. As you know, she will perform songs you’ve never heard. So yeah, i got tix. Glad i experienced hearing those songs live. Another concert crossed off the bucket list. Nothing more nothing less. She did sing the hell out of “Zion” tho!

It was the worst concert that I have ever been to, making it hard to deem her a queen. If you have bought tics and have yet to see her, set low expectations. If you spending your money on concert tickets then you should already know the artist regular habits.

When an artist signs up for a concert, there are contracts involved. If they cannot fulfill the terms as written, then don’t perform at all. I can’t believe you are actually defending unprofessional behaviour. At the very least, the audience should urge her to get help.

saw her / nas. after waiting for a while, nas did his set. he performed if i ruled the world solo (which seemed bizarre, i assume she was supposed to open for him and then come back out during his set later on, but she was too late).
waited for 90 minutes between nas/lauryn. she came on and sucked – all the usual complaints, yelling at band, performing worse versions of songs while dragging them out for 15 minutes. half of the crowd left midway through her set
Everybody knows she’s gonna be late. I never been to a show where the opening act didn’t make toy wait. And she doesn’t own her master’s so she can’t perform some of her songs in the original Key/version without permission from the label. So if you not down for remixes don’t go

There’s a differance between “defending” and “knowing what to expect”. I can’t and will never defend someone I do not know. My point was based on my experience and why I chose that experience. If you are a concert person as myself all i’m saying is know what to expect. If you are a music lover… know what the artist is capable of before you decide to see them live. It’s that simple. They’ve been talking about her being late for years so who’s really surprised thst she was late? As stated before, I didnt wait long between acts before she hit the stage. I also wasn’t expecting the show to start promptly even though it actually did. I’ve been to way worse shows. My experience at the show wasn’t all bad. It wasn’t great, but it had some good moments. Will I go see her again. Nope, sure won’t. I got what I went for and that was to hear that particular album live. On to the next experience.
