The death of a family member is never an easy pill to swallow. Pusha T and his brother No Malice are experiencing that feeling firsthand after announcing their father, Gene Elliott Thornton Sr., passed away over the weekend.

Pusha T made the announcement first on his Instagram page, showing a picture of his father sitting with his son and a video of the two and the “Diet Coke” rapper enjoying quality time.

“I love you Dad…you taught me to remain poised, to always be calculated, to be prideful, and to respect hustle and hard work but to know the difference between the two,” Push wrote in his caption. “I am who I am because of you and I’ve always been proud to be your son. We are all gonna miss you… R.I.P. Gene Elliott Thornton Sr. P.S. We all know what this is abt, kiss my mom for me.”

The Clipse brothers’ mother had passed away in November 2021 and Push did something similar by announcing to fans she had died on Instagram. No Malice logged on to his empty Instagram page and dedicated his only post to his late father with a caption explaining how he plans on dealing with the sudden death in the family.

“You told me Psalm 34:19 was your favorite verse,” No Malice wrote. “Right now, I clutch it with both hands. We all love you dad. You were everything a father is supposed to be. ‘Many are the afflictions of the righteous: But the LORD delivereth him out of them ALL.’ Psalm‬ ‭34:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬ #TogetherAgain #Jesus #Salvation.”

The Clipse brothers didn’t disclose the reasoning for their father passing away; however, they received a boatload of support from fellow peers such as Fabolous, Jadakiss, DJ Clue, DJ Envy, Steven Victor and more.

Pusha T and No Malice aren’t the only ones dealing with a deep, personal loss as of late, though. Chief Keef’s grandmother Margaret Louise Carter, also passed away this weekend. The Chicago-bred rapper took to Instagram on Sunday (March 13) to express his sadness over the sudden death of his beloved “granny.”
