Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony added another colorful chapter to the Verzuz story last December when they took center stage at the Hollywood Palladium. Although a fight erupted onstage, the two veteran Hip Hop groups ultimately put their differences aside for the culture’s greater good. After all, they’ve all known each other for decades, and some of them still work together. (Krayzie Bone, for example, is currently collaborating on a project with DJ Paul and Gangsta Boo.)
Growing Up Hip Hop star and bona fide Cleveland Hip Hop legend Layzie Bone took it upon himself to play peacemaker during the altercation, earning plenty of praise along the way. In an interview with HipHopDX, he took some time to reflect on that moment in his long-standing career.
“Overall, it was cool,” he says. “From reading all the responses and everything afterwards, I did feel like I got my flowers. All a person ever want to do is be acknowledged for what he really do in life. Keeping Bone Thugs-n-Harmony together, assembling my group and all that. That pat on the back, it felt really, really good to hear it from my peers. For them to see how we held it together through all these years? It’s been a crazy-ass ride, you feel me? And that’s the role I play. So I felt good.”

As for the fight itself, he was happy they were able to squash it so quickly, adding, “We kept that party going and really got to showcase what it was about, the ’90s, because we was banging. Three 6 and Bone Thugs was banging, and really we all friends now. So I don’t really know Juicy J too much because I found out that he’s an introvert, and that’s probably why, but DJ Paul and Gangsta Boo, I’ve been cool with them for a long time, so I’m glad we got to show that. It was a beautiful experience and we let them know God rule. That’s what it do.”
Lil Flip, who happened to pop up at the Verzuz, later went on record saying he’d be willing to hop in the Verzuz arena with his former rival T.I. Speaking to VladTV in January, Flip said he’d have to get at least $500,000 for the showdown, a price Layzie isn’t so sure about.

“[The battle] could probably happen,” he says. “Well, I hope it happens. I really would hope that it would happen, and they can end that peacefully too, so we can keep pushing this culture along. But, yeah, I’d love to see that. That’s something that I’d love to see. I don’t know about $500,000 on that though. I don’t know. That would be a dope Verzuz though. That’s the first time I heard that, so I think that should happen.”
T.I. and Lil Flip have been rivals since at least 2005 when they got into a brawl in the Houston neighborhood of Cloverland. Tip had been claiming the “King of the South” title for roughly two years, which Flip didn’t like. After months of animosity (which bled onto wax multiple times), Tip called him out on the Houston radio station 97.9 FM and said he was going to expose him as a “fraud.” The respective crews met up in Cloverland and the fight ensued.

But like Hip Hop fans witnessed at the Gucci Mane and Jeezy Verzuz in November 2020, it’s possible to bury the hatchet no matter how long two people have been at odds.
The 1017 Records boss had been taunting Jeezy for days leading up to the event and coldly shared a meme reminding Jeezy he shot and killed his associate Pookie Loc in 2005 in what Gucci said was “self-defense.” Despite the perceived tension in the room, Gucci ultimately accepted Jeezy’s olive branch and brought their nearly 20-year beef to a definite end, saying, “No disrespect. It’s all love.”
