DaBaby was questioned by Miami police on Monday (May 31) in connection to a shooting that left two people injured, one critically. While DaBaby’s lawyer confirmed the multi-platinum rapper was released without charges, a member of his entourage wasn’t so lucky.

According to Newsweek,Billion Dollar Baby Ent. artist Wisdom Awute was arrested shortly after the shooting on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm. The Miami-Dade County website shows he’s ineligible for bond as of press time.

The incident took place at Prime 112 steakhouse as two men were attempting to get into their car at approximately 11:20 p.m. local time, then got into a fight with “a famous musical entourage.”

One of the victims identified Wisdom as the man who shot him in the right calf. Christopher Urena, who was arrested alongside Wisdom for attempted murder and assault, was trying to flee the scene of the shooting in a black Chrysler 300.

DaBaby Questioned By Police Following Miami Shooting In Self-Defense

Once police made contact with the vehicle, Urena said when he got in his car, a group of men pointed a gun at him and shot at him as he drove away. During a search, police found a gun magazine in Urena’s bag. Consequently, he’s been charged with additional counts, including theft and a weapons charge.

“In less than 24 hours, Miami Beach detectives were able to ensure those responsible for the shooting were arrested and charged,” MBPD spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez said. “We will now work closely with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure a successful prosecution.”

DaBaby fired off one round in self-defense but, as previously mentioned, was cleared.
