Nick Cannon was fired by ViacomCBS on Tuesday (July 14) after some perceived anti-Semitic comments he made on his Cannon’s Class YouTube show went viral.
During an interview with controversial figure Professor Griff of Public Enemy fame — who was once fired from the group for anti-Semitic comments of his own — Cannon said whites were the “true savages,” praised the anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and promoted conspiracy theories about the Rothschild banking family and the notion people of African descent are the “true” Jews.
Los Angeles-based rapper Kosha Dillz, who has built a whole career around his Jewish heritage, spoke to HipHopDX about the toxicity of Cannon’s words and the damage they’ve done to the Jewish community.

“Nick Cannon is problematic because he claims to fight white supremacy but has combined Jews into white supremacy and running the world, while supremacy targets Jews and Blacks together,” he tells DX. “Nick is using the positive fuel of the current civil rights movement for justice to end police brutality and combining it with hateful rhetoric from Farrakhan — who calls Jews termites and Satan — to create baseless statements of ‘Jews having too much power’ and ‘controlling the banks.'”
Kosha continues, “This divisive commentary is meant to divide Jews and Blacks who marched side-by-side in the first Civil Rights Movement. Nick’s rhetoric is the same rhetoric that led to the Jersey City and Monsey, New York attacks on Jews in December of 2019. If you look at the statistics, Jews are the most targeted minority in America for hate crimes. We are less than .2 percent of the world’s population.

“To give it context of how bad this is, Chuck D kicked Professor Griff out of Public Enemy for being anti-Semitic and Nick joined him on his show and applauded him saying we are fake Jews and ‘they’ are the real Hebrews. I met Nick and he surely didn’t speak any Hebrew to me.”
Cannon has since offered an apology to the Jewish community in a lengthy Facebook post, writing, “I must apologize to my Jewish Brothers and Sisters for putting them in such a painful position, which was never my intention, but I know this whole situation has hurt many people and together we will make it right.
“I have dedicated my daily efforts to continuing conversations to bring the Jewish Community and the African American community closer together, embracing our differences and sharing our commonalities.”
The Power 106 personality also promised to take action to unite the Black and Jewish communities and further understand Jewish heritage.

Still, Kosha isn’t convinced and insists Cannon has a lot more to learn.

“Jewish people have received unanswered promises over the years,” he adds. “Nick needs a first hand lesson and eye-to-eye experience with how Jews we’re killed for not being white. He should be invited to Auschwitz to see the concentration camps where my family was killed and millions of others have. He needs to understand Jews were ‘given Hollywood’ because it was trash before it became a thing.
“He needs to know Jews were in ‘money lending’ because it was considered the worst profession to be in. He has to unlearn every conspiracy theory he has been taught. And sure go to Israel and learn a bit. But he still has to be ‘canceled’ because until he is, he will never learn the consequences, no matter how many Jewish business partners he has that don’t call him out on his bullshit.”
