Lil Durk opened up about his fallout with French Montana in a new track previewed on Instagram. The OTF leader shared a snippet of the upcoming song, which featured lyrics reflecting on his relationship with his mentor.

“When I fell out with French Montana that shit did me damage/I learned the rules of a contract but I was planning on signing/He picked me up when Def Jam didn’t, he turned me diamond/Now I’m the voice of the streets, perfect timing,” Durk explains on the song.

Although things didn’t work out between Durk and Montana in the past, the two are on good terms now. After hearing the snippet, Montana showed love to his former Coke Boys affiliate in the post’s comments.

“Brothers 4life let’s finish what we started !!” he wrote.

Durk later explained in a 2018 interview with VladTV that he didn’t sign with Montana because he was “young and dumb.” He told DJ Vlad about how other people were in his ear telling him not to do it at the time. But in retrospect, Durk noted he would’ve signed the deal if he knew what he knows now.
