West coast veteran and former Def Jam employee, Jayo Felony makes his return to hip hop with the release of his third album, “Crip Hop.” The LP debuted at number ten on the Billboard Indie chart the week of November 12. Crip Hop has garnered some positive reviews: The L.A. Times said…”This San Diego rapper has more beef than a butcher shop…Jayo’s incisive lyrics have spunk, and his ferocious delivery could wake the dead. The Times gave Crip Hop three out of four stars.
MTV.com remarked: “The songs drip with West Coast funk…propelled by Jayo’s spirited lyrics.” The first single from Crip Hop is “She Loves Me” featuring 7-year-old MC Young Nube. Other artists on the album are E-40 and the Dulow Gang, as well as production from Battlecat and Tyfyffye. On the album Jayo sets the record straight regarding his feuds with Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.
Jayo Felony last released an album under Def Jam some 3 years ago, he left the label and claimed Jay-Z prevented the release of his next album.
