Newark, New Jersey, native NBDY is helping to usher in a new era for the recently relaunched Arista Records with his first release on the imprint, “Admissions.”

“The song came from a place in my past that crippled me for so long,” he explains via the label’s press release. “It was my first heartbreak. I wanted to take the listener back to that moment, explicitly giving them the full experience.”

I’m so honored to be added to the Historic legacy of @aristarecords . The best things really come when you least expect it. Last year when I was in LA working on my ep my managers @godfathernsoul and @nygiant Told me that @davidmassey123 wanted to meet with me. Dying from anxiety, I met with him & funny enough, neither of us could hide our excitement. It ended up being the best meetings I ever had with an industry exec. 4 weeks later, on September 17th 2018, I signed with the new #ARISTA. The rest Is history to be continued. I wanna thank all my day 1’s who’ve seen me go thru the mud thus far. Thank you for keeping me motivated and pushing me to continue striving to be as great as y’all believe I could be. I almost gave up on music too many times, but like I said blessings always come when you least expect it. Let’s keep growing this tribe ?

NBDY hopes his tenure on Arista will put him on the path to curbing the generational curse in his family. His father, mother, aunts, and cousins all attempted to pursue music in the past, but to little fanfare.

His father signed with Sony music 20 years ago after striking up a relationship with Wyclef Jean.

“During my official signing, my dad looked at me and said, ‘It’s like watching me all over again, you’re just doing it better,” he continued.
