Turbo has won a $10 million copyright lawsuit against him after the vocalist of his producer tag alleged he used his voice without his consent.
Georgia-based musician Jamal Britt filed suit against the Grammy-nominated producer, Warner Chappell Music and several record labels in January 2024 over the “Run dat back Turbo” tag. The vocals came from a song the pair did in 2017 titled “Afghanistan,” and Britt alleged that he didn’t consent for his voice to then be featured on future songs – which included the likes of Lil Baby, Gunna, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and more.

Britt requested joint ownership in his lawsuit, as well as compensation for past royalties and damages.
But on Friday (March 7), the court officially dismissed all claims without prejudice in Turbo’s favor, ruling that Britt had no involvement in the tag’s use beyond the original recording of the 2017 song.

“We hang out all the time. We was in the studio and he was just talking. He’s like, ‘Man, what did Juicy J say? Shut the fuck up.’” We was just being funny. And I said, ‘Hey.’ I stopped it. I told the engineer, ‘You recorded that?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’
“I said, ‘Man, I’m using that as my producer tag because that shit is hard.’ … We didn’t say, ‘Hey, Logic, go in the studio, I mean go in the booth and do this.’ He just said it and it was recording.”
Apparently, even Logic was surprised by how quickly his voice was implemented and reached out to the OG after hearing his voice all over.
“He say he didn’t think I was serious,” Juicy noted.

“He said, ‘When you said you was going to use that as a tag, I didn’t think you was serious.’ He’s like, ‘Man, that shit sound hard. I’m hearing my voice every fucking where.”‘
Remarking 0n the trajectory of their relationship Juicy J says he is a fan of Logic, and initially had his management reach out to facilitate a collaboration. He claims they hit it off instantly and regularly link up to, “smoke weed,” and “take some shots.”
