Kelis evidently has more issues than just her custody battle with ex-husband Nas. According to The Blast, the “Milkshake” singer has been ordered to pay former nanny Soraya Tascon $17,000. A chunk of the judgment is intended to cover Tascon’s plane ticket, which she was allegedly forced to purchase when Kelis left her stranded in London.
The nanny filed the complaint with the Labor Commission of the State of California after Kelis allegedly refused to pay her in full for her services.
Tascon was hired in June 2016 to care for Kelis’ then six-month-old baby and her then seven-year-old son with Nas. She was tasked with working out of Kelis’ home and traveling with her on tour. Her salary was reportedly $750 a week.
In July 2016 — while overseas in London — Tascon claims Kelis fired her and didn’t provide a return ticket home to Los Angeles. Tascon says she spent $1,200 flying to her mother’s home in Madrid before returning to Los Angeles. In addition to reimbursement for the flight, Tascon claims she was owed over a hundred hours of wages and overtime.

The Labor Commissioner determined the evidence proved her claims and dismissed Kelis’ argument that Tascon had a problem returning phone calls or texts.
Tascon was awarded $17,623.73.
Kelis was faced with more accusations earlier this month when Nas aired out his issues with his ex-wife in seven lengthy Instagram posts. That war wages on to this day. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
