Los Angeles, CA

Cypress Hill and marijuana are practically synonymous at this point. In fact, the longtime Hip Hop collective’s de facto leader B-Real is often referred to as Dr. Greenthumb, a nickname taken from a Cypress Hill song of the same name.

So, it’s only fitting the rap vet operates his own marijuana dispensary called — yep! — Dr. Greenthumb’s. According to ABC7 Los Angeles, B-Real was on hand to cut the ribbon at the establishment’s grand opening ceremony on Wednesday (August 15).

The premium pot store — located in the Sylmar neighborhood — carries a wide variety of strains, which B-Real believes will separate them from the rest.

“You just have to figure out a way to keep what you’re doing in the shop at a quality that will compete with anything,” he said.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, B-Real explained how he remembers his lyrics during live shows despite his large intake of marijuana.

“It’s the repetitive nature of it,” he told DX. “The more you practice, the more you do it, you can focus in on it and you embed in your brain basically.”

That’s not to say he’s never forgotten them, but there’s a specific reason for that — and it isn’t weed.

“Only when I’ve had alcohol,” he admits. “It doesn’t happen on cannabis for some reason. It only happens with alcohol, so I don’t drink before shows, if I even drink at all.”
