Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Wednesday (July 11). An NYPD Public Information official confirmed the arrest in a statement to HipHopDX following a TMZ report.
The controversial rapper was apprehended on an outstanding arrest warrant in Texas stemming from an altercation at Houston’s Galleria Mall. 6ix9ine’s team reportedly told TMZ that they were aware of the warrant and intended to address it soon.
6ix9ine is accused of choking a 16-year-old in January. Video of the incident surfaced online shortly after, showing the rainbow color haired artist confronting the teenager.
In a January 6 post on Twitter, the teen claimed 6ix9ine choked him. He also shared pictures that displayed redness around his neck.
Houston police issued a warrant for 6ix9ine in May.
