Ahead of SZA’s appearance on the Complex show Everyday Struggle, host DJ Akademiks apparently had some harsh words for the Top Dawg Entertainment artist, going as far as calling her “one of those Amazon bitches.” During an online Q&A with fans, he was asked why SZA was coming on the show.
“I didn’t vote for SZA,” he said on video. “But fuck it, she’s coming on. I’m gonna rock with it. I like SZA. But what the fuck is there to talk about? I don’t know, man. I guess her album being delayed.”
The 50-minute episode went down with no word of what Akademiks had said about her, but as soon as TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson caught wind of it, he quickly retaliated with a couple of tweets.
“This nigga weird bruh lol,” Punch wrote. “Kind of a clown. I’m not sure yet though.”

He followed up with, “Nah he’s a full blown clown. I wish I would’ve seen that link before we went up there.”
SZA responded to Akademiks on Twitter, writing: “Shoulda said this shit this morning. Still don’t regret being nice to you. Peace.” That tweet is now deleted.
Not everyone shared Akademiks’ sentiments. Fellow Everyday Struggle host Joe Budden took to social media to praise the artist.
SZA was on the show in support of her long-awaited debut studio album, CTRL, which is scheduled for a Friday (June 9) release. Watch the full episode above.
