Michael Jackson has begun recording a song he wrote for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

According to U.S. magazine Billboard, the recording sessions have taken place in a Los Angeles studio and Jackson has participated via phone and satellite from London.

Ciara, Snoop Dogg and Shirley Caesar have been spotted at Los Angeles’ Conway Studios – sparking rumors that they will also be on the single.

Jackson worked on the music at a recording studio in London earlier this month, marking his first public appearance since being cleared of child abuse charges in June.

The track was originally titled ”From the Bottom of My Heart” but will be renamed, according to Jackson’s spokesperson, Raymone Bain.

”Michael didn’t need as many artists as he originally had planned for,”Bain said of the single. ”There are others who have to lay vocals as well. Michael plans on getting together with them for the chorus. We still have two to three more steps before the song will be ready for release.”

In the mean time, Jackson returned several antiques to settle a lawsuit with a gallery that accused him of not paying part of a nearly $380,000 bill, attorneys said Monday.

Kamad Enterprise, which owns Mayfair Gallery, alleges that Jackson owed $128,875 toward $378,875 worth of merchandise he purchased in May, according to Saul Reiss, an attorney for the company.

Jackson agreed to return items that included a Chinese chest, a mirror, clocks and a barometer, from that sale and a past sale, Reiss said.

Jackson’s attorney, Brent Ayscough, confirmed the settlement and said Jackson did not pay the company any money to settle the case.

”He did not know the exact dollar value of the returned items but that it was “in the neighborhood” of the disputed amount,” he said.
