Damon Dash is severing all ties with former partner and friend Jay-Z. Dash sold his share of Roc-a-Wear back to Jay-Z and other silent partners for almost $30 million.
The long time friends split up Roc-a-Fella Records earlier this year after a falling out. Insiders say Jay-Z, the current president of Def Jam, initiated the split because he felt Dash was ‘taking advantage of him to get publicity’. Dash is still working with Tiret watch company, the Damon Dash Music Group, State Property clothing and the Rachel Roy clothing lines.
In the November issue of XXL, Beanie Sigel touched on the split.
”And it was always brushed off like it wasn’t nothing,”Sigel said of the break up. “But you could tell it was coming. And when they just couldn’t fake it no more… To me, it’s a personal thing and it hurt me, ’cause I love both of them. I don’t love one more than I love the other.”Sigel also stated that he believes the split was more personal than business.
