KYLE has set October 2 as the release date for his SMYLE album, information he is releasing exclusively through HipHopDX.

The project’s cover art accentuates KYLE’s gold-fronted snaggletooth, something the Ventura, California rapper says he is highlighting in order to show people how they can make something deemed negative into a positive.

Life isn’t as bad as it can sometimes seem,” KYLE says in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “You actually do have control over your emotions and you can smile through anything. There was a point in my life where I first discovered who I wanted to be as an artist.”

At the time, KYLE says he was living at his grandparents’ house with several other relatives. When his grandfather, the anchor of the family, suddenly passed away from cancer, the family’s dynamics changed.

“I watched everyone in my family unravel in a bad, bad way, like where some members started to abuse substances and others started to have mental illness problems,” KYLE says. “It was the darkest moment I had ever experienced. There was a moment when I decided to make everyone around me happy so they could smile and laugh through the bad times. People may not think that it’s possible to smile through adversity but that way of thinking saved my life and my sanity. There was nobody else, no help, no light at the end of the tunnel but when I decided to steer the ship around by providing a light, it worked.”

KYLE released his Beautiful Loser album in 2013.

The standard and deluxe versions of SMYLE are available for pre-order on iTunes.
