As selfish as your average rapper is around the time when his/her album is supposed to drop, one may be surprised that there is a rapper who cares more about the community than his album. Embodying the title The People’s Champ to the full extent, Paul Wall is more interested in saving lives than record sales.
The rapper is hard at work performing for benefit shows and rounding up much needed materials for the victims of the hurricane.
“I have a foundation in Houston called Hope for Houston,” Wall said to MTV on Thursday. “We’ve been petitioning a lot of clothing lines I deal with personally. Like Travis Barker got a clothing line called Famous Stars & Straps, and he donated to my foundation 5,000 pieces of clothes — shirts, jeans, whatever. Ecko said they was going to clear out the entire warehouse and Algiers said they was going to send thousands of shirts.”
He continues “I got an album dropping Tuesday. I can’t really concentrate on my album ’cause I’m trying to help these people. In my heart I feel like the album, that’ll come, but I need to focus on these people and helping them in their situation.“

In the meanwhile, the album will still be dropping September 13th and hopefully Paul can prove he truly is The People’s Champ.
