Drake‘s latest album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, has passed a major sales milestone.
Just three months after it was released, the PartyNextDoor collaborative project has now gone platinum in the US as it has sold one million equivalent units.
The album originally debuted atop the Billboard 200 after being released on Valentine’s Day.
Even though opening week figures of just shy of 250,000 were some of the lowest of Drake’s career, the album has had staying power and is still in the top five of the chart twelve weeks after release.

The album also had a breakout single in the form of “Nokia” which reached a peak of number two on the Billboard Hot 100 though Kendrick Lamar and SZA kept it off the top spot with their enormous hit “Luther”.

Despite only just dropping $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, Drake is already hard at work on a follow-up project.
According to OVO artist, Smiley, Drake was even working on the album during the video shoot for “Nokia”.
The Canadian rapper said on a live stream: “Even at the ‘Nokia’ video shoot, during a break, he had a bunch of producers and he was just recording. He’s in that crazy mode, right now.”
Smiley also revealed that Drake disappeared during a recent party to instead focus on making his new album.

He explained: “We’re at a party and he was in the other room by himself eating pasta with wired headphones writing music while we have a whole fucking party going on. He’s on a different mode right now.”
During a recent Kick stream with controversial online personality Adin Ross, Drake officially announced that he was working on an album.
“Working on a new album right now,” he said casually, before confirming that it will be a solo project. “It’s a slap.”

Drake has not yet revealed any more details about the project or when fans could expect to hear it.
Despite prolifically releasing music in recent years, Drizzy has not dropped a solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs which received mostly middling reviews but was a big commercial success for the Canadian.
