For Common’s next single, the Chi-Town emcee doesn’t think that a three minute video is enough. Instead Common will follow in the footsteps of fellow Chicago artist, R. Kelly, and make a mini movie to go along with his courtroom tale “Testify”
“I was thinking ‘The Usual Suspects’ when I wrote it, where you believe the whole time that the character is doing something, but then you find out something different,” Common said to MTV. “It’s about a woman testifying for a man in court.“
Com plays a court reporter following the proceedings as they transpire in the courtroom. The movie begins in a police interrogation room and then moves to the courtroom where a man’s wife is being questioned about her beau’s involvement in a murder and drug deal.
