Remember “Voltron”? Yeah…the cartoon about the five lions that, when combined together, formed a humongous robot that defended the universe. Yeah…I’m sure if you are a child of the 80’s you know exactly what I’m talking about. Well Pharrell Williams is getting a chance to get all nostalgic and assist in bringing the robot cartoon series to the big screen.

The Neptunes producer is going to not only produce the soundtrack to the movie, but will also be an executive producer for the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter the movie, “Voltron: Defender of the Universe” is being produced by Mark Gordon (“The Day After Tomorrow,” “Saving Private Ryan”), based on a story about five pilots who have to travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate Voltron- a robot which is made up of five smaller robots.

For those of you who are feeling nostalgic, “Voltron” isn’t the only 80’s cartoon making a move to the big screen. It seems that Steven Spielberg is executive producing a live-action version of the hit cartoon “Transformers” which will be directed by Michael Bay.

Stay tuned as these cartoons make their move back into the spotlight.
