Hip-hop and video games have gone hand in hand for awhile now and now for the new “NBA 2K6” Basketball game, not only will there be hip-hop but once again the artists will be on the court handling the rock. The Roots, Redman, Common, Lyrics Born and Little Brother are some of the artists featured on the soundtrack to the game and will also be playable characters. Look for The Tracks (the name of the game’s soundtrack) to hit stores October 4th.
Who says drama doesn’t pay? R. Kelly and his “Trapped in the Closet” series have found their way into the hearts (and pockets) of many. Kelly’s TP.3 Reloaded smashed the competition by selling a massive 491,000 copies out the gate. His release topped Soundscan this week, leaving Missy’s The Cookbook eating his dust, moving 176,000 units.
After being sued for not finishing a book he was supposed to pen for Random House, P. Diddy finally settled out of court. The suit dates back to 1998 when Diddy was advanced 300,000 to publish a book of his life memoirs but failed to produce a finished product. According to Random House spokesman Stuart Applebaum, “The matter has been amicably resolved.” But it has not been released whether Diddy paid the advance money back in full.
