Kanye West and Franz Ferdinand are quite successful and have amassed a great deal of fans- but who knew they were fans of each other’s work? Both entities met last fall at the MTV Europe Music Awards and quickly found out that they enjoyed each other’s music.

According to MTV, West dubbed the group as “white crunk” and inquired about how the group got to achieve their sound. Since then, West has openly stated that the group has had heavy influence on the sound created on West’s next album Late Registration. And according to Franz Ferdinand’s frontman Alex Kapranos, the feeling is mutual.
A lot of [Kanye’s] production has been inspirational for us on this new record,The approach to the recording is revolutionary, and he’s been a big influence on us. There’s a confidence in that kind of recording that you often don’t find in the recordings of [rock] bands. I think it’s just having the guts to take a melody and turn it right up and say, ‘This is the tune, it’s really catchy — why don’t you just listen to it?’

So hopefully this will make both artists music go to the next level. West’s Late Registration is due out this August.
