As the Biggie wrongful death trial was just set to get in motion, an informant emerged to state that two LA cops, and central trial figures, had a very close affiliation with Suge Knight and Death Row Records.

Kenny Boagni, has claimed to have at one time shared a cell phone with former LAPD officer Rafael Perez, who at one time partnered with David Mack. The lawsuit contends that Mack, with Suge behind him, conspired to have B.I.G. killed. The ongoing accusations had no merit- until now.

According to the Times, Boagni’s statement to police was read in court and claimed that Perez (who reportedly served time for, among other things, stealing three kilos of cocaine from LAPD evidence facilities) and Mack both worked off-duty security details on the side for Knight and Death Row Records. It even suggests that Perez worked for Death Row at the very LA party that Biggie met his unexpected death.

This throws a monkey wrench in the whole trial and U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper halted the proceedings until Thursday to give time for both sides to digest the statement.
