Who has gone platinum? Mike Jones! Who? Mike Jones!!! In less than two months, the debut release from Houston-based Mike Jones titled Who Is Mike Jones? has been RIAA CERTIFIED PLATINUM. The album debuted #3 on Billboards’s “Top 200” and #1 on Billboard’s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” and “Top Rap Albums” charts. It continues to sell more than 40,000 copies a week.

The rapper, who has taken shameless self promotion to the next level with the incessant repeating of his name and giving out his cell phone number, is currently still moving a good amount of units because of the top 20 hit “Back Then.” It is seeing over 12 million in radio audience and was featured on MTV2’s “Making the Video.”
“By now everyone should know that my Grandmother helped me with this marketing idea and when nobody else believed in me, she did. So I went
with what she suggested and it worked,“ Jones explains.
