After turning the music world upside down with his 2002 chart topping album Dutty Rock, Reggae star Sean Paul is back in the studio attempting to rekindle the fire he created almost 3 years ago.
“You feel a sense of responsibility, and I’m holding up the whole dancehall thing, as everyone’s waiting on my album,” he said to MTV in regards to the pressure of following up. “So there is a bit of pressure.“
He’s currently got his special guest list under wraps saying that it is all “top secret” but did divulge the concepts of some of the more emotional songs.
“This album has party tracks, but there’s some deepness to it,” he said. “I had a friend that we lost, part of my crew, and some violence happened. He got shot and there’s a song that’s a tribute to him and people that I’ve lost over the years. It’s a very sad song, and songs like this on the album make it more moody than Dutty Rock was.“

The first single off of the album is “Gimme the Jeez” and should be premiering sometime soon while his as-yet-titled album is due to hit late in the summer.
