Hip-Hop has lost yet another of its own. Justo Faison, founder of the popular and successful Mixtape Awards, was killed in a car crash over the weekend. His vehicle reportedly ran off a highway in Richmond, VA and struck a guardrail before flipping over and hitting a tree.

The 36 year old founded the award show that recognized the mixtape back in 1995 and became a staple in hip-hop culture. The latest event honored P. Diddy as top executive and featured performances by Kanye West and Cuban Link. He also held positions at Nervous, Atlantic and Epic records over the years.

This past March, Justo released “Justo Presents: The Mixtape Documentary” on DVD which further explored the world of the mixtape DJ. He will always be remembered for his contributions to hip-hop and will be forever missed.
