With many fans and spectators hinting at a possible drug overdose as the cause of 26-year old A$AP Yams’ death, A$AP Mob member A$AP Ant spoke with VladTV and dismissed the rumors outright.

“It ain’t no overdose,” A$AP Ant said. “People stop saying overdose ’cause that’s not what it is. It’s not an overdose. People keep talking about he overdosed on Xanax and shit like that, lean. No, that’s not what happened at all. I don’t wanna talk on it. It wasn’t that though at all.”

Reacting to a flood of social media posts from fans and websites alike sharing personal pictures of A$AP Rocky at the hospital, Ant asked for respect and privacy during the mourning period.

“Let the bloggers and the people that actually does that as their job, let them do that stuff,” he said. “Everybody on Instagram and Twitter posting pictures of Rocky at the hospital where Yams passed away at, ya’ll looking like females and tabloids. That’s not any of your business to post that. Let the blogs post that…That’s private for somebody. I wouldn’t want to see a picture of me on the Internet at a hospital while my grandfather dying. I wouldn’t want to see that.”

Speaking on the collective’s hopes to fulfill Yams’ dreams for success, Ant compared Yams to the likes of Puff Daddy and Suge Knight.

“We gon’ make his dream come alive,” Ant said. “He supposed to been the next rap mogul. He supposed to been the next Diddy, the next Suge Knight. The next innovator on some Teddy Riley shit. He was all that in one pot. Everything. His mind was so ill and so crazy.”

Late in the interview, Ant added, “I love my nigga Yams for real. I love you Yams bro, for real. I love you to death my nigga. I ain’t gon’ pour no lean up for you, I ain’t gon’ take no Xanax bars. I ain’t ’bout none of that. I miss you bro, for real. From the heart.”
