Following the drama at Nas’ show at the Brixton Academy in London on Monday night, the police have launched a full investigation into the incident, in which two shots were fired in the middle of the crowd.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan police said, “The [gunman] suspect was described as a black male by witnesses. No arrests have been made. We are continuing our inquiries.”

In a statement released by the Brixton Academy, spokeswoman Louise Kovacs told of the venue’s “high level of security” throughout the night, although many concert-goers later complained of the lack of bag searches earlier on in the night.

Nas’ publicist, Shoshanna Gilbert has also been talking to the press, making clear that the QB rapper does not support or tolerate violence of any kind. She said, “It’s ironic because only today he released his latest single, ‘Just A Moment’, which is about the fact that he is dead against violence in rap. This is not something he stands for, and he doesn’t understand why there should be a connection.”

The last time Nas performed at the Academy was in 2003, and that concert also saw crowd trouble, when 50 people tried to charge the doors without tickets.

Nas has only toured the UK three times in the last decade, and his recent show in Brixton was the last of a handful of dates in his UK tour, which was in support of his latest double A-side single ‘Just A Moment’/‘No One Else In The Room’.
