50 Cent’s dominance of the industry continues after his second week (first full week) on the charts. In just over 11 days, 50’s The Massacre crushes the competition and is closing in on double platinum status.
Last week 50 out did J-Lo’s Rebirth album by nearly a million copies. This week 50 moved 771,000 copies of his sophomore album and ran over Jack Johnson’s In Between Dreams who pushed 117,000 copies in it’s first week on the shelves. The truce between Game and 50 could have contributed to the ridiculous sales numbers. Game’s Documentary moved 86,000 copies to keep a steady pace but nowhere near his former G-Unit cohort.
At this point it seems that the beef and truce helped more than hindered both artists involved. Even Young Buck saw a boost in sales, moving up 53 spots by pushing 9,000 copies of his debut Straight Outta Cashville, to prove that the G-Unit is completely in charge of the industry at this very moment. How long can 50 stay at the top? We’ll just have to wait until a formidable opponent arrives.
