While we have reported the troubles that have hovered The Inc. there seems to be a small uproar coming from the community against the charges against Irv Gotti and his label. It seems as if many feel that the charges are unjust and that Irv has been caught but not proven of laundering money to fund his label. The petition, which can be found at

The media attention this story has gotten is disgusting and unfair. Being a member of the media, I feel that these fellas are victims because they were caught for something that has not even been proven. How many rap moguls really even started their empires with drug money? Should we mention names? The Gottis were caught? NOT proven yet! Some have not even been caught. The Feds always look for scapegoats. Irv Lorenzo was and is still a DAMN GOOD PRODUCER. You listen to Ja Rule and ASHANTI’s music. This is good talent! Are you gonna tell me that Universal and Interscope did not know what was going on or someone had paid the Feds to exclude them or why weren’t they named in the indictment? Lets look at the facts where the facts are. The record companies need to be examined too.I am a news reporter and looking at both sides. Gotti’s lawyer Gerald Lefcourt, who represented Abbie Hoffman, has stated that the Inc. is financed through cash from Island Def Jam. Like I said earlier, what is Island Def Jam and Interscope saying?? Some radio stations deserted them like they were nothing. You are the fans and the ones that buy the CD’s. Are we a party to financing drug money? I know you said hell no! But it’s like saying I bought a stolen good and I’m not part of the crime. No one has told me to do his, Politicians in Washington are paying bloggers to make them look good or attack their opponents (Howard Dean who almost could have been our President), Columnits are being paid government and tax payer money to fund programs (Armstrong Williams, Gallagher. Now that two syndicated columnists have admitted taking government money for promoting certain points of view, is the growing scrutiny of all commentators long overdue? Or is the new scrutiny just a kind of witch hunt? In the wake of Armstrong Williams and Maggie Gallagher’s ethics problems. Shouldn’t indictments be handed down? Instead we put a football player (Jamal Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens) in jail or 4 months for something 4 years ago! Let’s open our eyes.
