Xzibit has teamed up with Cingular Wireless, Sony Ericsson and Sony Urban Music to search for the next hip-hop supastar. Artists interested in joining the contests must submit an original song in which Sony Music executives will choose ten finalists who will then have their music transformed into mobile ringtones. Hip-hop fans can then vote on their favorite ringtone ultimately deciding which person will win the contest. The ten finalists will also get a chance to perform during Xzibit’s tour when he visits selected cities from March to April 2005.
“As we enter into music’s newest era, we are searching for artists with strong vision and a creative delivery of their self expression, someone who defines what hip0hop is all about. The winner will be someone with an authentic , unique style who can connect with the hip hop community in a way that’s both real and fun”, Senior VP of A & R Dino DelVaille said.
