DMX put in a plea of not guilty to the New Castle Courthouse on his latest driving violations, which include driving with a suspended license. DMX also known as Earl Simmons was arrested on December 15th in New Castle, NY for driving 104 mph in a 65 mph zone. In June of last year he was arrested and pled guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and reckless endangerment after getting into an incident at JFK Airport in New York. Along with the plea agreement, his license was suspended for six months; he received a $1,000 fine and had to turn over his 1998 Ford Expedition. His spokesperson Jonathan Wolfson released a statement saying concerning his latest arrest, “This is not a major concern and we are dealing with it appropriately. Basically, it’s only a traffic violation”.
The publishing company who hold the copyright to Madonna’s hit song “Holiday” is suing Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Eve. The publishing company alleges the song “Not Today” from the Barbershop 2 soundtrack includes sections of rhythm and harmonic content as the 1983 song “Holiday” and believe they should be compensated for it. “It sounds similar enough to bear further consideration”, Judith Finell told CJ. “Both the pitches and the rhythm sound closely related. I don’t think they’re identical, because Madonna’s song is in what we call ‘major key’ and Mary J. Blige’s song is in a minor key”. If the publishing company wins, they could win at least $15 million dollars.
