P. Diddy has been bitten by the acting bug once again and will star in the prequel to acclaimed gangster flick, Carlito’s Way. More than a decade after Al Pacino starred in the original Carlito’s Way, Jay Hernandez will star as a younger version of Carlito Brigante in Carlito’s Way: The Beginning. P. Diddy’s role in the movie has yet to be announced.

Carlito’s Way has been kept alive over the past decade by hip-hop culture in various ways. From clips from the movie being placed on albums to emcees utilizing many of the references in the movie, Carlito’s Way has become the #2 gangster flick (behind Scarface of course). The original was produced by Martin Bregman, who is handing over the reigns to his son, Martin S. Bregman.

No date for the movie has been set for the movie to be released. Filming reportedly begins next year.
