Common and Jennifer Hudson have seemingly been going strong for quite some time, but their most recent date at a New York Knicks game did not go as planned.
The couple were sat courtside at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (March 4) as the Knicks took on the Golden State Warriors, and were central to a moment of drama early in the second quarter.

Knicks guard Miles McBride was pursuing a loose ball as it bounced out of bounds and ended up crashing into Hudson.
Common also attempted to protect his girlfriend from being hit by the stray ball, but unfortunately managed to whack her in the face with his right arm.
On the TV broadcast, Hudson could be seen looking shaken up as her glasses appeared to have been broken in the fray.

Common and Jennifer Hudson have been dating for a little over a year, and it appears things are getting serious as the Chicago rap legend recently teased marriage.
During an interview on The Breakfast Club, Common suggested that if he were to ever to tie the knot, it would be to the Dreamgirls star.

“If I’m gonna get married, it’s to her. Simple as that,” he said.
The 52-year-old MC and actor further gushed over his romance with Hudson, saying: “This is definitely — with all due respect to all the women I’ve dated ’cause it’s all love — but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship.”

He also spoke highly of their mutual Chi-Town roots: “Having a lady from Chicago, that has allowed me to home and just be home. I hadn’t done that in a while where I was just going home and being around my loved ones and having no work to do.”
He added: “When you’re with somebody who’s from where you from, it’s a different kind of connection.”
Hudson later referenced his comments when Common stopped by her talk show to promote his collaborative album with Pete Rock, The Auditorium Vol. 1.
“I was asked about marriage and I just answered honestly. You told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants.’ And I was just saying my true feelings,” Common said.

“Like listen, Jennifer is the true person. If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was just being honest. Now wait. Where do you stand on that?”
Laughing, Hudson replied: “My mother was right. I think that if she had met you, she’d say, ‘I don’t know about the rest of them, but that Common is alright with me.’ And I would agree.

“I think it’s a beautiful thing, I think you are a deserving man and I support that idea. I think it’s a beautiful idea. Now hold on – in due time, if it ever gets to that place.”
