In more major moves since his announced “retirement”, Jay-Z has teamed with production company @radical.media and Paramount Classics to release a film accounting how his last album was created and takes viewers backstage during his farewell performance at Madison Square Garden last November. Fade To Black is narrated by Jay-Z himself and should give fans a glimpse into the mind of the (semi)retired artist.
“I was on the biggest stage in the world, with some of the biggest stars in music, and we pulled off the perfect night,” Jay-Z said. “This was the ultimate dream growing up in Brooklyn. I went from Marcy to Madison Square.”
Jay-Z is executive producing the film under his Marcy Projects Productions along with John Meneilly, Frank Scherma and Jon Kamen and was directed by Pat Paulson and Michael John Warren. Fade To Black hits theaters nationwide on November 5th, 2004.
