When Kendrick Lamar released his verse on Big Sean’s “Control” earlier this year, B.o.B was not mentioned by the Compton, California rapper. Still, B.o.B released a response to the selection with “How 2 Rap.” Recently, B.o.B spoke about “Control” and whether he was surprised when he was not mentioned by Lamar.

“Not really,”  B.o.B, who released Underground Luxury this year, said in an interview with Vlad TV. “People don’t really place me in the category of the emcees because I’m so much more than that. I’m not just an emcee. I’m a musician. I’m an artist. I do things other emcees can’t do and I do them so well that it’s hard to classify me just as a rapper.”

In the interview, B.o.B also discussed his favorite “Control” response.

“Probably Meek Mill’s,” B.o.B said. “I like Meek’s. I just liked the ‘Ooh, kill ’em.’ That was the best part, but Meek always comes with bars. He always comes with energy. He never lets you down. So I wasn’t expecting nothing less.”

In September, Meek spoke about “Control” and his relationship with Kendrick Lamar.

“Yeah, I know Kendrick,” Meek Mill said in an interview with DJ Whookid. “He’s a cool guy. I seen him the other day. I seen him at [Jay Z’s] party. I said, ‘You know I’m loading up to fire back.’ He’s a cool guy, man.”
