It has been a year since the death of Aaliyah and people nationwide are still feeling the effects of the tragedy. Many artists have been paying tribute to Aaliyah during their concerts to remind fans that “she is gone but not forgotten”. Jay-Z recently honored the memory of Aaliyah during his concert at the Sprite Liquid Mix Tour in DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. In a thirty second memorial Jay-Z and the Roc-a-Fella family (including Damon Dash) stopped performing his hit “Hard Knock Life” to remember “Baby Girl” (as her friends liked to call her).

Turning down the stage lights, Aaliyah’s hit “Try Again” blared through the speakers as fans lit the room with lighters. Aaliyah was born in Detroit, Michigan. As the song ended Jay said, “We love you. We miss y’all.” R &B singer Tank recently stopped performing during the “Believe” concert in Baltimore, Maryland to pay tribute to Aaliyah by playing four of her songs. After a year, gone but not forgotten.
