It’s that time again! Finalist that auditioned for the DMC American Battleground are set to begin competition on August 23rd. The seventh annual event will be hosted by Run-DMC’s own DJ Jam Master Jay at The Roxy in New York City. Having held regional competitions all over American from June 5th to August 3rd, winners of each region will battle each other in New York with the chance to face the current US champion DJ Lever. The winner of New York showcase will go to London to defend his title on September 14th and 15th.
DJ’s that have previously won championships during DMC are DJ Craze, Mixmaster Mike (Beastie Boys) and the Xecutioners. During the August 23rd competition DJ Premier of Gangstarr will be inducted to the DMC Hall of Fame and Kool Herc, DJ Radar and DJ Swamp will be doing a showcase at the event. Tickets for the event are available at ticketmaster and cost $20.00 in and advance and $25.00 on the 23rd. The show begins at seven and you must be 18 years or older to attend!
