After putting his rap career on hold for a short period of time, DXnext alum and Philadelphia emcee Trel Mack is putting together his latest project, Return of the Hustle EP.
With his last piece of work, The New Dynasty, released in 2008, Mack explained his absence and subsequent plans for 2010. “I took a break for a minute due to personal issues, but now I’m back to kill the game. It’s the return of the hustle, because I’m coming back stronger than ever and my music has grown so much since the release of The New Dynasty.”
Along with his own musical growth, Mack has also harnessed the skill of finding quality collaborative talent. One such example is R&B singer Tony Tatum, brother of Pittsburgh Steeler’s linebacker LaMarr Woodley. Upon meeting Tatum, Mack stated, “Once I heard Tony sing I was blown away and I’m all about making hits, so we instantly hooked up and I knew it was going to be the perfect chemistry. We got some radio bangers coming soon [that] will crush the game.”
One of their collaborative tracks waiting in the wings is “Pound 4 Pound,” which will be released next Monday (May 3) for radio. With other features from Fedarro, Marvo and J. Noize, Trel Mack’s Return of the Hustle EP currently has no tentative release date.
