Just when you thought the Jay-Z and Nas battle had lost its fire, Jay decided to let the world know that he isn’t finished. Earlier this week Jay-Z was a guest on Angie Martinez afternoon show on Hot97, and discussed how he would like to put an end to the lyrical battle he has with Nas. Jay-Z suggested that he and Nas stage a pay-per-view lyrical battle, where each MC would perform songs as well as a three lyrical freestyle battle. Jay-Z suggested they both put up a million dollars so that there would be a purse (lump sum of money) for the winner.
Don King and other promoters have expressed interest in helping to build up the event. Nas has not yet responded to Jay-Z’s suggestion, but you can catch Nas making his first Murder Inc. debut on a new track titled “The Pledge” with Ashanti and Ja Rule. Nas is not officially signed to Murder Inc. but his company Ill Will is now an affiliate to Irv Gotti’s label. Just a little side note; check out the lyrics Ja spitting on the new track, could they be aimed at a certain “top dog” in the rap business.
